Agreed. Sorry about your leg.

I'd settle for a question mark and a salient point. This being the DayZ forums, I realize my expectations are unreasonable.

I started playing the mod in early 2013. Never played in a group until recently. So, I am neither new nor a group player. Never even shot on sight before tonight. I killed before tonight, just not on sight. I still have a public hive mod character that has been alive for almost 300 days. Hoppers. I hate them. I don't like to presume too much, but I'm pretty sure I killed a hopper. Even if not, I don't feel guilty about killing someone on sight at an airfield.

I just sent you a PM. We'll handle the rest from there.

Mitch! Does this mean no tongue? Did you just actually post your address on an internet forum? U mad bro? Yes, I will fly up to Ontario forthwith, spending money and time in order to flex my internet muscles. I'll be right there! I am, though a big wheel, still subject to the laws of physics, thus I can't simply teleport. But I am very excited to meet you, Mitch! But really, I demand tongue, little wheel.

PM me your address! I'll be right there. Now I'm really excited! Tongue and everything? 1S1K-Airborne: I disagree with your humanity idea. It was NEAF. Anyone there dies, pretty much, especially hoppers. I've died there, and will again. That said, I usually take the tact that it's better to talk first and die than to shoot first. Don't really care what others think about it. This time I was looking specifically for hoppers. And, the doors opened, a silhouette emerged and I fired. Even if there was an armband (I think that's what you've been lobbying for) there is no way I'd have seen it, even in daylight. No visible sign of humanity would have been obvious in that situation, and then, as I've said in your thread, they are all prone to manipulation, IMO.

You can try to call me that when you meet me in person. Then you'll understand what is meant by "consequences." Until then, enjoy your effete internet trolling anonymity, child.

Your Best Methods To Preserve Your Character/Loot
zhrike replied to KissMyAxe's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, that's it really, in terms of resets (which it appears to be what you were originally asking about). Stick to the official list of servers, villayer servers ... I think there was at least one other provider that didn't experience the hive connection issues. Some resets will be impossible to avoid, being alpher and all. So, if you log in on the beach when you had a geared character log out immediately and try an official server or one with a provider that has been stable. -
Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.33.114782
zhrike replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Software development consists of various specialties, so many of the things you suggest aren't going to happen serially; they happen in parallel. You'll have a team working on optimization, performance, possibly, you'll have another team creating the models, and a team responsible for coding their interaction with the engine, in-game physics, etc. etc. These things take place simultaneously, and with a nested tree of dependencies that have to be carefully managed. If people see shorts being added and wonder why time is being wasted with those kinds of things rather than vehicles, or some bug fixes, it's just not that simple. Edit: And I personally think that the devs are doing a great job of releasing content as well as engine/server performance tweaks as they are becoming available, despite the fact that an obnoxious vocal minority of alpha testers behave as though they're owed a finished game NAOW! Not you, quoted poster, just using this response as a mini-platform as it were. -
BUG: Random "you are dead" + "you have been kicked off the server"
zhrike replied to mythal's topic in Troubleshooting
No. You're complaining. Bug reporting instructions. Edit: Clearly, you do not. -
Cleary, he means the lack of beards. And I agree. FIX NAOW! Oh wait, that's a chick. There goes my lame ass joke.

Seeing those types of players is one of my favorite aspects of DayZ, and yet I never find them in game. Well, I'm hardly ever on the coast, either. By the way, MBP, love your play style, and your videos are awesome. Subbed last week.

No there isn't dude. I hear what you're saying, read the entire OP and the thread, but I disagree with some of your generalizations. I agree that most humans act out of a need to be rewarded, and sometimes that's simply the feeling of helping another. I genuinely enjoy that, too. That said, there are many play styles, and all of them are valid. From the derpy spawnkillers who can't hit the side of a barn, to the over-friendly noobs who run into danger yelling "friendly friendly!" only to be shot, rage quit, and post a tirade on here. People yelling at me trying to give me stuff annoys me, too, but that's only that person. There are also simple friendly encounters with people who are bored with the otherwise lack of content in the game, and maybe trying something new for a bit. Or maybe just trying to find a friend? To test boundaries? DayZ is a fascinating social experiment in a lot of ways, as well. I once went from the North all the way down to the coast with the intention of giving everything I had away. However, 1) I wasn't looking to be killed, and 2) I wasn't insistent about it. I would not run up to people trying to give them shit, or hide in a bush yelling. I would interact, see if I could discern what they were about. Some people who are brand new to the game would actually love to have a friendly interaction. Edit: I only tried that once, and it didn't happen. I wound up going back to the north, and then being reset. So there are complex motivations for all play styles, and they change even in the same person from time to time.

^ Beans for this. Congrats on your health. With the new patch, eat until energized and hydrated, and avoid "stuffed," otherwise you'll be spewing, stuffed, and starving at the same time. I speak from experience. derp.

I'll say. He was shooting people in buildings that were no where close to where you were, through the walls, and talking about it. He was not just glitching, but running fully through the walls, in a straight line. And there was a running dialog between the two of you, and many cuts. After watching that video, I find it difficult to believe that you weren't aware of what was going on.

I prefer the mosin and will dump an M4 in favor of one, and no, I don't camp. It's so much more accurate at any moderate range, though an m4 tricked out with all pristine attachments isn't as ridiculously inaccurate as the stock m4.

Nonsense. Clearly we all wear the same size shoes, shirts, pants, and are all champion marathoners who can also sprint as fast as a horse, and broken bones are healed with a shot of morphine.

Lay off the bubble helmets, bub! The green actually provides decent camo. To whit ... here is my "Where's Waldo" pic:

I hope so. Those orchards ought to be producing something. Just imagine: Orchards, the new PVP hotspot. Yeah, okay, that's not gonna happen. But yeah, trees with fruit. It would also be awesome if some of the little house gardens produced some wild tomatoes, beans, etc., once in a while. And those pumpkins. Why can't we eat em?

Are there any plans to add new maps to the SA? (Ex. Lingor)
zhrike replied to IHaveNoSpoon's topic in General Discussion
I believe that there are plans to open up the development of SA for modders once it has reached full release. Rocket has intimated as much. They're also planning on adding to Chernarus+ ... they had Utes below Skalsity Island, but felt that it looked silly, so are going to work on a new island there from scratch. I'd love to see maps like Namalsk, Taviana and Panthera ported over. And Altis, which is huge. -

What do we really want as far as Character Progression?
zhrike replied to crimsonbzd's topic in Suggestions
The only kind of persistence I'd like to see are traits that 1) are in line with a character surviving (like BEARDS!), and 2) that have no effect aside from aesthetics. Once your character dies, you should start from scratch, otherwise: permadeath loses its luster. I have mixed feelings about tents and bases, too, though I've used them (and vehicles) in the mod. -
There is a cluster of buildings just north of the NEAF. According to the DB, they should be spawning loot, but I've been through it a few times, including after restarts, and have seen nothing, and that includes zombies. I'd guess that they're going to give it a name and perhaps some additional structures at some point. If you continue NW of there, on the north side of the train tracks and that major road beyond it, there is a very large area of intersecting roads, that if an entire city would rival Cherno/Elektro in size. I can't wait to see how that shakes out.
