I'd love to see them gone or a very rare spawn. They are currently exploited and contribute to the KOS mentality. It is far too easy for a couple (or more) of bandits (or assholes) to grab a shit ton of blood bags (particularly with the way medical supply boxes are bugged), shoot at everyone (especially lone players) with little worry about getting shot themselves because they can just tea bag ... err, blood bag each other back to full health. If they had to worry about getting into a firefight, being shot and being brought to low blood, it would change their behavior/impact. Either they'd be more invested in careful assaults/gameplay, or they'd simply die easily and more often. I play lone wolf and have no problems hunting (since I no longer trust anyone, particularly on public hive) to regenerate blood. The only other mechanic that I think would help is sleep (as works well in Origins) and/or time. Your blood should regenerate very slowly over time - only time spent in game, however.

It was fun flying around in the Huey convoy with you and Grim, looting kamenka, balota, and NW, too (I'm Hanse in game). I still don't know how you dropped out of Grim's chopper at Balota.

My morning on DCWF - US East coast. Fun times! Hopefully enjoyable to read about it ... So, I logged on waiting for the sun to dry off the grass enough to cut, and saw that Grim was on (hi Grim), one of the GBYC guys (hi Unit), one of the RSB guys (hi Jorgen) as welll as Anton (hi Anton) and some other guy (hi whoever you were) who I blamed for my murder ... well, not really blamed ... more credited, ha. Q something ... can't remember his or ner name. He/she may or may not have been murdered by the upside world of GBYC Unit. In looking back at the summary, I basically: ran a 5K, was murdered, ran another 5K and picked up a backpack. And yet, it was a lot of fun. Log in at campsite, decide to run down to the new city. I can't remember that damn name, Grendlschickerbackerfjord or something. Anyway, lots of running, kill cow, gut cow, cook beef, yum, get close, lots of zombies, shit someone is here. Heli goes overhead ... at around the same time Jorgen goes "hi Unit" in side. Hrm. I stay in the industrial building trying (obviously unsuccessfully) to be stealthy, trying to find the player. No zombie aggro. Loot some tires and glass 'cause why not? BANG! Unconscious. I watch as my blood goes down down down as the unconscious meter goes down down down, thinking "wake up wake up wake up you fucker!' All the while cognizant of the fact that whoever shot me would prolly just do so again to finish me off, but I had a few thousand blood in beef in my coyote backpack. I swear the meter was almost out when DEATH! Okay, so a glorious Kamenka respawn. Nice shot Q(whoever). [GYBC] Unit: "were u in new city?" "yeah." "wasn't him." YOU BASTARD! LOL. Head over to military spot in Kamenka to see if there is anything useful ... PDW is about it, while doing so "[GYBC] Unit was killed." Jorgen: "got ya." LOL. Hmmm. Should I try to get back to my body? I ask Unit "did you loot my body?" "I was about to but was killed over you." lulz. Jorgen: "I looted both, but will return your stuff when you get here." Right. I'm totally expecting to die when I get there, but maybe, just maybe I can shoot Unit in the face first lol. Head north, Jorgen asks proximity, I was 3.5K, say so. Asks Grim to give me a lift. Grim: "I'm staying out of it man!" Don't blame you. I am expecting to die, honestly, but I have nothing on me and my camp site has some stuff, so nothing to lose. Jorgen asks if we're both on foot. Unit says something that I believe indicates that he isn't going to his body. Damn. Jorgen says he'll meet me halfway. Wait, he's a bandit, right? Okay. Still expecting to die, I go to Z, follow his directions (sorta, no way I am running on the road) north of the city. He sees me and drops my coyote backpack with weapon, never asks me to drop the pdw I had. Damn. I could have shot him ... but. could. not. do. it. I am still expecting Jorgen to shoot me. Any minute now ... Anyway, 5K, murder, 5K pick up backpack = fun? Yes, indeed. Somehow, some way.

Thanks for all of the responses, Nimrod, EB, and Arch. I play as "Hanse" btw. I hear everything you're saying. When something like that happens ... again, it's not a big deal, I wasn't angry, and had expected to die at some point (playing dayz you better) ... anyway, I first think "fuck it, I'm killing everybody." But then the trolls win. Then you add to that shoot-on-sight cycle. Then I shoot someone who approaches the game like I do. I'd rather take a chance and die than do that. So, I will take chances in order to help people, and I am sure that it will cause me to die again. I mostly play on epoch, 2017 and public hive and haven't died in months, so it had been a while. Anyway, yeah, I'll be back on and thanks again. BTW - love the new abandoned town idea. Did you get the zombie hordes going yet? When I was there yesterday there were a lot of zombies, but manageable.

Hey, thanks for the response. To be clear, I didn't really believe him, which is why I posted. Also, I don't think he did anything deserving of a ban. He played as a bandit as he sees it defined. I think it's a cowardly, trollish way to play, but fine, no worries. There will be others. Now I know. Thanks for the info on the clans; I'll definitely be on again.

So, define "friendly." :-) I'm all for PVP, and for banditry - makes it more exciting. On yesterday, only person on, decide to use it to gear up. Get an m4a3cco, ghillie, BA pack, hit the new city grab a temp huey, go to NWAF to check that out and TaDeadMage logs on asking me where I am. I ask where he is. NWAF. I say "same." Asks me for blood, and other requests for help. Have none. I'm sitting prone next to an mi17 outside the ACT as he is fumbling around on top of the tower, and then down below, aggroing zombies. He comes out, I have my sights on his face. "Where are you, north or south?" "Close to you." At one point he runs within two meters of me. I'm not a bandit, so I don't shoot him. He dies via zombie. I feel badly. I was about to logout. He asks if I can take a heli and come and get him to take him back to his body. Yeah, okay. So I fly down to cherno, on the way deciding that I'll just give him the heli and logout, hanging around the city for higher population times. I tell him to take the chopper, get out and turn away from the heli to log out, and he shoots me with the guns from the huey. I literally had the "abort" menu up. I log back in and decide to see if I can sneak on him, but he flies the huey away past Kamenka, and though I heard it for a bit, lost it. We're talking in chat during the time. I ask if he has a clan, just wondering what bandit clans might be on (though his humanity is just under the hero level, and he had no bandit skin, else I would have killed him at NW). He mentions "yeah, and I'm also friends with the admins." I thought it was amusing, but also disappointing in this sense: Next time I have some unknown in my sights ... kill them? That was my first reaction, but no. I'm not going to behave like a coward because others do. To me, this is not skill. You're not displaying elite dayz killing skills by deception and shooting someone in the back. That works once. Anyway, I'm not angry about what happened, and I'll check out the server again, but when you advertise "friendly server" and there is a guy who behaves in the way above who says that he's a friend of the admins, makes one wonder what that means. And anyone else who has, might, and is playing on the server: if you get TaDeadMage in your sights, kill him. :-) Oh, and just to add to the IP/port conflict - definitely two servers show up on the same IP/port combination, which I thought was somewhat odd. I know many servers can be hosted on the same IP address, but thought the ports had to be unique.

Oh rlly? "He" said this: Yeah, blah blah blah. Two things. One: I didn't say the ban was premature, the server owner did, the person you apparently agree with. Second: There is not enough information to determine that the OP was or is a hacker. You're jumping to conclusions. My issue here is a server owner/admin who is banning someone because they used this forum to discuss their issue, which is fucking ridiculous. Next time you get caught up in your zeal to jump to conclusions and presume things, try reading the whole thread.

I've played on this server, and talked to some of the people involved on mumble previously, and was there when hungryhippo was on the other day - I mentioned that it was nice that vehicles don't show up on the map, and he mentioned that they show in admin maps, which is true. Amusingly, the heli I found was gone when I logged back in. I've played on another one of the syndicate's servers and found the admin partially named here to be fair and helpful, however, as I stated in game, admins with admin tools/rights/power also playing on the server = inevitable admin abuse. There is just too much emotion invested too often for power not to be abused, and the temptation is too great.. The Syndicate has a nice idea going, setting themselves up as mercs; the obvious conflict lies in the fact that players can pay them (in game, of course) for hacked in vehicles, weapons, etc., but more importantly, if a player (say a bandit, for example) pays the syndicate to assassinate a particular player or clan, they can simply use the admin map to locate that player, and it's done - so they have multiple vested interests in abusing those capabilities. Now to be clear, I don't think that has ever been the intent on their part, but as soon as C explained this to me on mumble one evening, I thought "well, that's going to lead to problems." Admins should never be players unless they have a firm understanding that their playing role and admin role are entirely disconnected. If the syndicate wants to set up shop as a merc clan, you need to be either very strict with ZERO tolerance for use of admin tools and/or powers, or play on a server where you don't admin, pool your resources, and leave everything else to fate. On a final note, everyone deserves a second chance. They have a neat idea, and a busy server. You have to expect people to gun for you, and have to be prepared for it.

No, it is not low. In fact, it is the very reason for this section of the forum. If there is any embarrassment, it was caused by a premature ban (though it seemed a reasonable reaction, actually), BUT moreso, by your responses. Had you simply said either "yes, we acknowledge it was premature, it will be sorted." or even "We'll look into it. We take these matters seriously," you would have accomplished the opposite of ridicule; you would have garnered respect from this user, and from the readers of the forum. You would have communicated that you are responsible, mature admins, and probably would have drawn additional players to your server. You make your server look bad here. You.

^^ Could have written this post myself. It's a great game that is virtually ruined by these types of behaviors, which are all too common. Admins don't need those tools. Period. EVER. Players die by glitch, lose their shit? Tough. Get more. As a lone wolf player I've been killed by abusive admins, hackers, glitches, and normal gameplay - c'est la vie - there is always more stuff. TLM's thinly-veiled bullshit excuses are pretty bad - it's obvious that he not only allows a culture of cheating, he encourages and supports it. It's good to see that there are at least a few voices who are as disgusted by this type of behavior as I am. But the real BIG issue here is that chat log. That's actually the documentation of a crime. Literally. If someone is interested, charges could be pressed by the appropriate law enforcement agency - provided those logs can be verified and validated. If the victims ever read this - you should contact the poster about it. This is far from child's play. These immature assholes seem to think that they're as insulated in the real world as they are in their little dayz fiefdoms. Not so. The actions of a site owner with integrity would have been: immediate ban of the abusive admin, and the total removal of those tools. Unfortunately, site owners/admins with integrity seem to be the minority by a long margin.
