I think that KoS players are still a minority (Less than 50%, right?), but when people like me bitch about it, it makes it seem like 90% of players KoS. I think you should stick with the friendly survivor thing. Most people will find the game more fun that way. You get a lot of interactions with other people if you don't just shoot on sight. You should just remember to not speak to them if you don't have an advantage. If you don't, it might be better to run away.

I think you have the Standalone as you bought it from Steam. The mod is free, but you can download it from Steam.

Two minutes wouldn't do anything. Alt+Tab and then 9gag or whatever for those two minutes. I think 15 minutes sounds nice. Not a lot of people want to wait that long for a bit of extra gear.

You're not taking any damage at spawn. Your screen will just be slightly saturated until you find a well and drink those 30 liters of water your character apparently needs...

People do what they want when roleplaying. Some people want to roleplay because it is IMMERSIVE. Which it is. Just stay away if you don't like it.
