Press F to drink, open doors search bodies and so on. The scroll wheel is useless if you have a gun. So, F to interact.

What do you put in your hotbar? 1. Gun 2. Axe 3. Bandage 4. Map 5. Compass 6. Cuffs.

I know you've fixed it already, but for the future you can handcuff him and make him log out while cuffed. This should kill his character.
