    0.44 being pushed to Stable

Honestly, before hoping for some new guns and rifles to be in the next update, I'm firstly hoping for this "guaranteed messaging" thing which has been mentioned in previous devblogs already. It's not only a performance issue on mid-end PCs, but especially a lag issue if you're playing on a very frequented server. As an explanation: As of version 0.43.116251, updates have to be spammed from client to server since the sever can't/won't confirm the received update message (yet). This obviously takes bandwidth and performance thus causing lags. So the goal is to send an update until the server confirms it so it doesn't have to spammed continously. (I hope this is sort of correct.) That's why before the AKM or whatever gun/rifle people are waiting for, I'm waiting for this to be finally realized. But yes, new features are allways necessary in updates to keep players interested. And I am really looking forward to the the hunting and cooking/crafting mechanism which have been anounced. I'd even like it if runs and rifles were massively reduced in quantaty while bows and crossbows will be introduced, so people can actually concentrate on hunting and surviving and don't have to watch out for that triggerhappy KOSer on the next hill.

    Suggestions for the defibrillator

Hi there, somebody just had an idea I liked, so I thought, I'd post it here and watch the reactions. Since the use of the defibrillator does not seem to be very clear already, I'd like it if you were able to reanimate a player with a defibrilator when he is dead. Of course this wouldn't be very senseful to try on a player who's just been riddled with bullets, but in my eyes, this would encourage teamplay if it was possible to bring someone back to life who recently bleed out or froze to death (unlikely on Chernarus, but who knows...). Especially after firefights between teams, it would not automatically mean that if a member was shoot, the whole team would have to wait for him to run all the way back. At the moment, I cannot imagine another senseful use of the defibrillator, but other suggestions, comments, critics and arguments are welcome! :) Regards, Johnny

    Suggestions for the defibrillator

Hey! We haven't contiued this topic in a while! Didn't know if you guyz realized already. The defibrillator has a senseful ... sense ... or something... now ... *derp* Changelog of version 0.42.116181: "Medical: Players can have a heart attack (declared as "irregular pulse" with pulse checking actions) [...] Medical: Defibrillator used for restarting the heart of players who have a heart attack" Anyway, you can get heart attacks now ... for whatever reason. And you can use the defib to get them back! Isn't that ... well ... something? :D

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

That's why I was asking. Honestly, I've never used those tablets yet, but ok, I guess the fact, they were not killing cholera in the water, was just a bug. Cheers, Johnny

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

Some questions on the changelog: "Gear: Hard headgear (ballistic, moto, construction and pilot helmets) cannot be wear together with masks" But why can a ballistic helmet not be worn with a mask? In the army, they're actually combined with gas masks, so why shouldn't this work with any other mask? Concerning map: I personally find way too few map parts. There's just no motivation for me to use the ingame map since I barely find even one part. "Actions: Removed force feed action for disinfectant and alcohol tincture" Why? Players weren't actually "abusing" this option, were they? "Gear: Purification tablets package contains ten tablets now. Cholera removing functionality added." Does this mean, if my character has cholera, I can eat such a tablet to get rid of it or do I have to drink purified water? "Gear: Even lower chance of backpacks spawning on construction sites" This makes me smile, since the "drasticly lowered" spawning change of these backpacks obviously wasn't drastic enough. ^_^

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

The experimental servers are not down (yet). Your current version is newer than the latest experimental. That's why they are not compatible with your game version.

    All DayZ Standalone changelogs

Right! Especially when you look at the frequency, there's no reasonable justification for bitching about too few patches. I assume people complain, because they don't understand that bug fixes take their time and that some seemingly easy things (like the firestation access-ladder-through-wall-glitch) are way more difficult to fix than crafting pristine stuff out of badly damaged things. ---------- All DayZ changelogs on top of this page!
  16. Please open a standalone sever as soon as you can mod it. I f*cking love(d) AKA!
  17. Hello survivors and developers, as some of you might have already noticed, the server_data.pbo does not seem to have been updated since game version 0.32. But in order to understand how certain things work server side and to provide feedback on that (e.g. by bug reports), it would be very helpful to have an up-to-date server_data.pbo on our clients. So dear devs and responsibles, please keep the server_data.pbo updated client side, so players, willing to participate in the development, are given the chance to actually participate a bit more deeply than just by reporting what they see on their screen. Regards, Johnny

    Suggestions for the defibrillator

Oh my god, I cannot believe they really did it: http://store.steampowered.com/news/externalpost/steam_community_announcements/920159972988415838 Look at the fourth last bullet point under "Fixed": - Players can now be revived with the defibrillator Congratulations, you are one step closer to Battlefield... XD You are right about the combat logging problem. In many interviews, Dean Hall has talked about the new way, the servers work in that point of view. Actually, the "big improvement" which I am looking forward to, is that the server decides, whether you are logged out or not. So if you're in the middle of a fire fight and you just pull your network cable, the server could act like: "You cannot logout right here. Find a save place and/or wait ... minute(s)." or something like this. This would be a very nice thing as well, because people would know combat logging is senseless. Regards, Johnny

    Suggestions for the defibrillator

I have seen a documentary about this topic some years ago. And if I remember correctly, it was said that at some point to get a heart beat regularly again, it would be necassary to firstly shock it to stop it and secondly defib it so it starts pumping regularly again. To be honest, I'm absolutely not sure though since I couldn't find any proof "on the fly", but if anyone finds something supporting/debilitating this, I'd be grateful. Regards, Johnny

    Suggestions for the defibrillator

No. 1: I don't get what you mean by "depopulate the coast". No. 2: Does not sound very "hero Societic". As I already mentioned in my first post: "Of course this wouldn't be very senseful to try on a player who's just been riddled with bullets." But if somebody is wounded and bleeds out, why not do some heart massage, stop the bleeding, give a blood bag and at the end, some defib shock? Sounds wierd and probably "unrealistic", but why not give away a slight bit of realism for a big influence in game- and teamplay? Dean Hall himself said: "We cannot make it realistic, but we can make it authentic." This sort of abuse would probably be the most senseful thing to do with the defib! In my eyes, building bombs and traps is probably the most senseful thing to do with stuff that does not seem to make any sense the way it's supposed to be used. To speak in "realistic terms", dead is not absolutely dead. It depends on the circumstances. Headshot, riddled with bullets, burned etc. - no chance to revive anything - agreed. But even a person who choked or drowned can be revived, because the brain is not unreversebly dead when the body is dead. If you get the heart pumping and the lungs filled with air (after you got the water out somehow) so the brain has oxygen again, you can get this person back to life, though unconscious. Of course, this BF style of reviving is absolute rediculess bullshit (especially because the "dead" player is obviously alive enough to lift his hand before being "absolutely dead"). But I think, dadod2 has a good thought concerning the way under which conditions somebody should be "back in life". If somebody is poisoned or very low on blood, there may be a need for a defib, because this can make your heart "go nuts". But what we see in this discussion is that the proper use of a defib is way more complicated than it seems in the first thought. There would have to be a complex system of what will happen when you defib somebody under the most different (and rediculess) cicumstances. This is probably a reason, why a use/abuse like Wisper mentioned it, would be the most "senseful" with that thing.

    A Simple Request for Developers

Yeah, I tried 0.30.XXXXXX too, but as it didn't work, I simply removed the dots, so now I do 030XXXXXX. Would be better, if there was a template of how they actually want it.

    Suggestions for the defibrillator

Torture? Well, seems kinda "logical" in medical terms, but why would you torture a player (character) in DayZ? If you want his gear - restrain and loot him - gotcha. If you want his group or camp - torture him? Why would he be willing to answer?
  24. Heeeere's johnny!

    A Simple Request for Developers

Oh, now I get what you mean! So now, I totally agree with you. ^_^ I definitely support this plea. As "reporters", we are encouraged to fill in the correct version as well (and will allways do). And it's happened here and there that a bug, however, came back with a later update. So yeah, dear devs, please do NOT use phrases like "fixed in latest patch" - Instead, please use something like "fixed in patch 113925". We will really appreciate it! :) Regards, Johnny

    A Simple Request for Developers

The thing is that the feedback tracker is already way overloaded with billions of tickets, reporting the same issue or some slight variation of it. I follow the tracker myself and when I recognize a ticket, reporting an issue which has been posted already, I politely encourage the ticket creator to close it and use the search function to check if an issue has already been posted, just as a lot of reporters are doing, too. If nobody provides me (good) arguments why not to do this, I'd continue and also recommend others to do the same, because the devs already have enough problems, sorting the important from the less important. And except for simply reporting stuff, I'd like to help a bit keeping the feedback tracker just a tiny bit clearer. So, this is one explanation I can give for why so many tickets are closed without filling in when it has been fixed - because very often it's just a duplication or maybe the reporter accidently claimed something to be an issue, which actually wasn't one. I like to share arguments about my opinion so you're welcome to provide some and/or to critcize (constructively). :) Regards, Johnny
