  1. Just a side note for all you fanboys before you start criticizing me and my post count - I have been playing DayZ since release and the MOD since 2012. I read the forums on a daily basis but prefer to keep quiet most of the time.

I always thought the Standalone will fix things and make the game what most of us wanted it to be but things did not turn out as expected. All I ever hear is Early Access is to blame but I think its more than evident now its the lack of efforts towards improving the pillars of gamneplay the community wanted - hack free game, base building, weapon attachment system and crafting.

Instead we got a game that was heavily focused on nutrition (eating, drinking) right from the start, glitchy as fuck, hack friendly, char wipes due to bad network infrastructure.

For as long as our glorious leader (I used to worship Rocket) focuses on things like cooking, hunting and collecting/throwing rocks instead of zombies and hacking DayZ SA will never go in beta.

I understand he is obcessed with nutrition, cooking, hunting and survival because he fucked up big time while on survival training in the army and that ended his military carrier but this kind of feature list also will most likely end his dev carrier. DayZ SA is simply not going in the right direction - people liked the mod because it focused on hardcore PvP, squadplay, exploration, lootruns, ect. NOT because it was a realistic survival sim.

Now that the game has more than 1.7 mil copies sold I expected to see Bohemia Interactive put a lot of efforts and manpower into supporting the game and a product but also as a service.

  2. When is something gonna be done about char wipes? To me its the biggest issue the community has with the game so far and its one of the oldest issues reported! Lost a 15 hour character last night because I had to go to the WC...

Whats more important than fixing central hive? When private hives are released I will never ever play on central hive again, buggy as hell...

  3.

Why has <insert any bug> not been fixed yet when there is new content coming in?
While priorities are very important when assigning work, there is a limit to how many people can work on a complex task without making it even more complex. Also, many of the team are focused purely on content/design so while the important stuff is being fixed, they continue to provide content and design updates.

There thats a quote straight from rockets post on this very forum, maybe you should have read it before you became another person complaining about content being pushed out instead of bugs being fixed.

Who is this addressed to? Maybe you should check when I started this discussion? Dean refers to big NEW features when saying 1 person has to handle them. Trust me - there is no limit of how many people can debug a game. I am not bitching about fixing bugs but if the new patch breaks more than is fixes like 557 did I will be very disappointed and it would be clear even to a fanboy like you that dev team is full of chaos right now because information flow is slow.

Also latest changelog was again very brief and with no explanations - we are not the dev team, we need explanations. If you ain't got the time to write them use those 20 million Euro and hire someone who will...

  4.  You may remember Lok, how chaotic the il2 devs were with communication, especially when it rolled into pac fighters and '46 and then of course CloD. Same with the strike fighters devs..same with a lot of devs. These are not AAA titles we are talking about here. They are smallish teams juggling a lot of balls at once.

I think a lot of players/users do not think that they have anything else on their plate excepting the game. Day to day life, family, bills, every man and his dog on a hundred different sites asking questions and demanding answers... and of course all of the 'game producers' that seem to have popped up in here the last few months stating how they would run it ;) The last three places i have worked have been more chaotic than here and no matter how hard we try and keep that customer happy, we still get shat on daily. But we keep on pumping on.

Just think, when you go to bed after a fairly normal day and have got your couple of hours of gaming in and are all snuggled up on your pillow and cuddling your teddies, the devs are more than likely sitting there with their eyes bloodshot and hanging on their cheeks with a million things burning at the back of their brains.

I don't know how many times these devs had to say 'Don't buy the game yet..it's really basic and needs fucktons of work and you will more than likely have a fairly shitty time'.

     Gotta love it.

     I

I am not complaining of the state the game was released in, tbh honest I did not expect that much.

What I am saying is the features in 557 were so bugged upon release it is a shame they got the green light to distribute the patch and I really think the community deserves more frequent updates because producing in dev phase and live phase is a very different thing and with the enormous success and attention the game got by fans hiring 1 more person to be responsible for technical writing and community changelog seems very logical.

So whats the purpose of the official DayZ forum if random bits of info get released randomly by random devs on random internet sites?

Look at real big FPS MMOs - Do artists from the Planetside 2 team post their work when they desire on twitter or reddit?

Please BI - be professional about it...

  6. Well tbh honest Q&A happened several times so far but always on Dean's guest twitch appearance. Why not here? Why not somewhere people will actually see it...

The need for an official wiki is also evident - there's like 5 wikis and all are full of crap!

  7. Currently game is trully in early alpha with game breaking glitches such as duplicating and wall glitching.

Those warning that you should not buy it and if you play it, except game breaking bugs are no joke.

Wall glitches and zombie noclip are not easy things to fix but the fact that a member of this forum with 1k + posts has no idea of the project's roadmap speak for itself - cold war proportion information blackout by BI.

Early alpha or not - 1 million people deserve DAILY or at least WEEKLY updates + proper changelog of released features and community feedback...

  8. It's an alpha... Not really sure what your point is, everyone playing the alpha is testing and finding bugs, before alpha release, a small group on reddit helped to test the game, they possibly still are...

But things get released and there are bugs, this will always happen, usually even with QA, that's why day 1 patches exist. That's the beauty of it being an alpha though, there is no priority to get patches out (unless something NEEDS addressing, like the security issues a few weeks back).

Let's use than as an example, what would you rather they fix?

'I can spawn myself a mousin' or 'Spray paininting my mousin, made it only take 1 round'....

Personally, I'd rather they carry on like they are, small issues that can be avoided get fixed on next update, big issues such as urgent patches with character whiped have a forum post detailing what was happening and why.

As for getting updates, what else do you need to know?

Anyway, this alpha is better than most alphas (and some full releases.. looking at you payday 2, where I STILL cannot connect to some of my friends) I've played in terms of stability. I rememberwhen arma 3 was first released, it would crash for like, no reason... I'd rather there be a mag exploit than the game close every 5-10 mins. So far I've been impressed with the alpha, especially when compared to arma 3, I've found a few bugs but none that are game breaking.... just don't spray your mousin (or anything), problem solved imo.

And out of curiosity, what games have you produced?

Look around, the community is blind. No one cares to shed some light on ongoing issues.

If developers were to actually acknowledge bugs there would not be 50 duplicate topics of the same bug.

The hive related char wipes serve as an example - they released hardcore and regular hives and no official announce was made. Many people entered hardcore and were confused - they decided their characters were wiped.

After that there was an issue with hardcore characters not saving. Again no info was officially released and server hosters kept their servers up which resulted in thousands of people spamming forum, bug tracker, reddit, ect. When you have 1 million players you can't afford to say "Its alpha". You have a community that you should keep informed even if that means hiring a PR and community moderator. Money should not be an issue here - big companies cater to their players and the respective communities thrive even after big fails. So far thats not the case with DayZ.

About the infinite ammo exploit and mosin glitch - fixing those will not delay cars, bases ot private hives! Why? Because team members that develop the new features did not work on spray painting. The problem here is really that shifting priorities is very slow in a chaotic bug tracker full of duplicate issues.

Dean should organize the workflow better or hire someone that can. Early alpher is not an excuse when have characters wiping on hardcore and noone announces it properly in the official game forum for 24 hours. Bohemia needs to learn to cater to the community - something that's also evident from the release of A3

  9. First of all, I'd like to say I really enjoy DayZ, both mod and SA. I know my way around the gaming industry since I am a game producer myself.

What I see when going trough patch notes and bug tracker is best described with 1 word: CHAOS

    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

    1. Patch notes are vague at best. People should understand what the features actually are and it will take no more than 20 minutes to describe clearly the feature.

    2. Does anyone QA this game apart from the community? How can spraying be released when painting an empty rifle magazine fills it with bullets and paining a mosin lowers its ammo capacity to 1 bullet?

    3. Why isn't magazine exploit fixed asap or at least paint canisters removed from loot tables until it is?

    4. Why do we have to follow dev's personal twitter account or their friend's livestreams to get info about the game? Is this some new kind of PR strategy the industry has never heard of?

    5. More than a million people bought the game and warned about the alpha state or not you at least owe them information.

Alpha is alpha - things break, sometimes migrating to live branch breaks something that worked before. AND its ok - but SAY it! Write a weekly update, explain to the community whats going on, act on critical issues, don't let them stay. Hire a QA ;)

  10. VAC is not enabled yet incase it causes performance issues. When it is enabled (soon) hackers will be banned and have their CD-KEYs removed.

Until that happens thay can work on their hacks and they will not miss the opportunity. Once they know what they want they will get a bypass and hack without risking ban.

Pains me to see the SA in the same light as the MOD :(

  11. Except - that's exactly how server software is written.

Bugs must first be identified in order to prevented. A company isn't going to waste its time trying to speculate on every potential hack from infiltrating its software. They are going to do exactly what Rocket and the Dev Team have done - release an alpha, discover relevant bugs and hacks related to weaknesses in their specific programming, then patch them.

It really is a rinse and repeat process.

Server architecture does not and should not have bugs that allow users to spawn in loot. It is the ABC of Server-client architecture. Client sends request to the server and server replies whether this request is possible for the client or not. If people were able to spawn items than perhaps sadly SA = MOD

I did not want to believe the posts in reddit and here even though I saw maphack screens and godmod ON cheaters... Client requests should be looked into very carefully because this starts to smell like another game that had Z in its name...
