I now am fully able to get in-game. I have done what Youtubers suggested with the game's settings, and used RAMDisk succesfully, and it does seem to have maybe made a slight difference. What's really irritating about Arma 2/DayZ are the braindead keyboard configurations. WHO made these idiotic configurations? For example, chat is "/", Y and U are team swapping... It's completely counter-intuitive the way it's setup. An acceptable excuse would be that the developers are Russian/use the Russian language, and use different keyboards, hence the poor conversion of settings - but unless that's the case I think it's really poorly designed in that respect. There are of course some other annoyances, such as for example that my hatchet can't kill or even hit any zombies, and that zombies will run mad until I go to a pinetree and hide under the leaves - where they can't get to me, and they'll start going back. In addition, I have to crawl to get past them, I can't turn inside a doorway, can't lock zombies outside, etc. etc. I guess I'll just have to get used to it :) until the SA

Exactly my point. I did actually avoid installing the last software because I had noticed that I had pressed accept too many times. And I was very tired yesterday, it was around 1 in the morning and I wanted to get the darn game working before today.. now I'm slowly cleaning up my PC from this scrap crap that has hijacked my browser, etc.

Reading the linked thread, I can only call the creator a total A-hole for doing this without putting up a giant "DO NOT INSTALL THIS CRAP" sign marked in a red color, since there's spyware in the advertised software from the downloader.

Everytime I start my Firefox automatically an infected website (i.e., a malicious website that possibly drops a malware) opens up. I also have a toolbar, some "PCBackup" trash, "sys" something, etc. I have to clean it all up before it does something unwanted.

It's not the DayZ Commander program itself, it's the downloader/installer, whatever, that has some other applications in it.

It could be made a bit more visible - but why on Earth even allow malicious software to be advertised through it? Some day someone is going to end up clicking through it too quickly when they're tired or not paying attention. This is utterly irresponsible.

Please look through the crapware that you allow be put into your software. I have just had some malicious software installed that has captured my start page on Firefox and various other things, because the DayZ Commander installer did not specify exactly what was being installed. I've been smart enough to block at least 3 of the installers, but 1 of the installers has still gotten through - and installed another piece of software. Now I have to cleanup my PC and do some listening with Wireshark to be safe.. very irritating :(

Thanks, I'll try that. What causes lag I assume is the very far render distance -- which is also required to snipe enemies. I'll seek to reducing the render distance if possible, if not by much then at least a bit. Currently I've downloaded a bit over 8.6GB and only approx. 5GB are missing so I'll soon be able to play (hopefully)

Ugh.. Are you crazy? OF COURSE I WILL, it's in my nature to cause harm onto others. Heck, I'd even shoot an unarmed person or a freshly spawned player :P

Yup. I became a fan due to watching DayZ videos and Dean's great marketing strategies. I just never bought the game because of the horror stories of lag on high-end PCs, laggy zombies, cheaters, etc. Thanks :)

Is it possible to reduce range of vision so less content is overloading my system? Like the "network bubble" Dean Hall is working on for standalone?

I got an i5-3570K @ 3.40GHz CPU dependent games like Planetside2 run very good. How about the purchase? Which edition is necessary? I of course want to spend the least amount of money, and I'm going to play DayZ epoch or whatever it's called.

What's with OP? He hasn't updated this thread for days. Also, is it worth buying the Arma 2 game now to install DayZ epoch? Is there still very low framerates, etc., in the game?

But none is actually confirmed by the glorious Dean whose name is too glorious to be spelled out fully? Didn't think so.
