I don't understand. Why do they only play for 30-50 minutes at a time?? Surely the game must be more entertaining and worth to spend time on.

#habenning (hoping) I just bought a family size kebab pizza and my stomach hurts already from eating half of it. Is this proof of the occurance of certain events leading to the release of DayZ SA? Well, yes! Ancient assaonauts created DayZ standalone. Is such a thing even possible - well, yes!

What does SteamDB have to do with the server? SteamDB doesn't count server activity but only game client activity - yes? And the server count tells me that it's a DayZ SA client. I could be wrong, though. I hope it's not just a fail troll attempt on us.

Make that 27. What are the actual failures? GetLastError function return? Server crash? What counts as a failure?

Back to topic guys: Do you think the fact that Dean has returned from his "silence" is evidence that he thinks it's ready to release?

Curious, are the alpha testers allowed to go play on the official UK server while the server is empty and when Rocket/whoever is not in the office?

As long as it's not "trial and error" LOL ;) hoping The only reason these big projects benefit from being open source is because they have many thousands if not more of programmers who will freely look through the code and find vulnerabilities and either fix them themselves or report them to the publisher(s). With SA, since it's owned by BI, only BI's own programmers will work on the project and who would want to spend their time trying to find vulnerabilities in a client just to report the vulnerabilities to the publisher? Besides, the BI programmers are smart enough (hopefully) to know what is exploitable and what's not, and hence don't need to make it open source.

LOL, trial and error for professional programmers? Don't think so! They debug the client constantly to find out the source of the problem, and then come up with ways to fix the problem (they usually have drawing boards for this in offices--believe it or not), and when all have agreed on a suitable solution, they attack the problem. Sometimes the programmers also put their code through a review process so other programmers can test the code. I hope the implementation of the Linux platform won't slow down the release.

Hey, can anyone please answer this question. Rocket said he would aim to get the official DayZ servers on a Linux platform (I believe he said), but the current UK server they got up and running is running on the Windows platform. Check the bottom of the page: http://www.game-monitor.com/dayz_GameServer/37.220.18.218:27016/DayZ_SVN_Server_developers_only-.html so what's up with that??

The SA game? Good luck when people find exploits then easily.

Am going to bed. Don't you dare release before I've gotten up again from bed! See ya in 10-12 hours (I'm a long sleeper)

He's only saying that because he knows that financially it would be unwise to release it too early, but similarly would it be with releasing it too late. Dean is not an idiot (I hope not), and he's not making a product to please us--it's a business.
