I used to do this every day I played on the DayZero mod with my old clan [KOS].. its amazing to do. Hit Reddit early on, get people interested and informed of server and time. Then its on after that. Dont just invite one group, invite anyone. Much better that way as the action is typically non-stop. :) Let me know, and Ill come solo if I have to

The fireaxe is still a one hit kill to the head, FYI. The difference is the fireaxe takes more practice to master the timing and aiming. Also, it was fixed on experimental prior to them going down the other day.

You know, I should have mentioned.. that today is my Birthday. Already got my first present last night :)

Take off your glasses/masks as it is a dead give away and makes it very easy to spot you. I was just in a US central server Hardcore, minding my business and looting the NWAF for some Binoculars and as Im on the phone IRL with my character watching the front entrance of a hanger I was in the back of, a player enters.. no lights (good for him) but wearing sunglasses so it was extremely easy for me to see him even though he essentially disappeared into the dark as soon as he was out of the view of the opening. I shot at his glowing sunglasses and down he went.. so FYI, do not wear your sunglasses at night.. contrary to that 80's song. :) ..dont worry though you non-KOS/PvP players out there.. Karma got me in the end as I was trying to switch to his Hunter pack and lost the majority of my gear to this weird server desync I had shortly after shooting him. I had this massive delay and could not pull out my weapons, and was stuck. Came back in the server many times trying to pick my stuff up and even did a full PC restart to no avail. I did end up with most things I needed like the Hunter pack but lost enough to be bummed. Oh well, now I have something to look for besides those damn elusive binoculars. (I know, I know..everyone seems to find them except me!)

That wont do much for you at certain times.. its still pitch black no matter what after midnight or on cloudy nights. But I prefer to not use the gamma as much as I can, if I find myself doing that I just think, "why am I even playing on night if I have to pseudo-cheat just to do it?" Not that it is cheating, but I just feel cheap for those that have no clue that they can do that or prefer not to. This dilemma is why I dont play on night that much.. I do, but I prefer day as it has no moral dilemmas involved. None. What. So. Ever. I love PvP. :)

Aim for the head and learn what aiming for the head means.. I constantly take them down in 1 swing on stable servers by walking up behind them, and head shot with my axe.. down the go every time. When being attacked, same thing.. aim for the head. Go youtube how to headshot with melee. Then profit.

What would you guys think of persistent bandages and splints, that are tied to the server and active until restart only? The idea is simple, when you bandage or apply a splint, it will persist on that server until either your death or a restart. This would do several things: allow players to see if you've been hurt recently, for players dressed in camo the large white bandage on your leg would make you stand out more to other players, adds to immersion, and if possible could show where a player was wounded.. so a leg shot would end up with a leg bandage, etc.. Of course this would not be something to get going soon, they have plenty other content to work on and bugs to fix, but perhaps this is something that can be worked on down the road if people seem to like the idea. Discuss your thoughts on the idea of persistent bandaging, and whether you would like to see things like this added into DayZ. Also turtles are a subject. Maybe DayZ needs turtles?

^ this. And the premise that these places would be empty is shallow. People are infected. The towns folk are the ones we shoot as Zeds. Most likely these places would be looted, like all others are too (its not like we find a stocked market) but they also would have what you would expect to find in small quantities as not everyone just survived and left town. They also were infected. Last but not least. This is not a survival game. Tell me how it is a survival game vs. a wasteland mod with Zombies?

I genuinely miss the banter, the baiting, and the calling out for help you would get in sidechat global text. You could ask for morphine, a trade of weapons, a magazine, or a fight. You could troll players, get people to head into towns. It was glorious. The downside was people could bitch and moan after they got killed... and argue for hours with each other. Also the side text would always be there on your screen. It would be nice if it was like the hotbar.. you could make it appear or disappear with the push of a button. If you needed a device (like walkie talkie or maybe a "smart phone") that was readily available before you could sidechat text, and you must be alive in game to use it, that would be a good addition. Limiting people to number of uses per minute, or similar, like a cooling off period would be nice as well. All of this would be great. But I can wait until final release/beta for things like this if I must. I just really hope it does not take a modder to do it :)

I think a fundamental shift in loot is needed. More realistic and plausible loot locations would help with immersion. As far as guns go, I would love to see: New Gun stores for large towns, cities. Make any other residential weapon spawn be in a hidden place like closet or under bed. This would feel more realistic. Cabins could have a gun rack over the fireplace that may have a rifle spawn or not.. and the Gun stores would always have some sort of weapon loot and several ammo loots. Military bases would be unaffected, just the residential gun spawn locations could be shifted mostly into the new gun store locations (as the OP mentioned). This would make yet one more loot location that is heavily contested and searched for, while also making the immersion even deeper. +1 for the idea OP!

I think I saw that "Sons of Guns" episode where they made a custom mag insertion like this.. totally. :P

I saw a video or something showing a wounded animation.. I think it was youtube? recently though. Maybe it was on experimental on the 23rd, or maybe I am just way too blind ? I thought I saw something that made your player move hunched over and slower, but was bugged and let you run around still if sprinting.

I believe they've already implemented a wounded animation???.... I could be wrong. Its new if they did. I need to be wounded first to know for certain and thats not happened yet.

Is that crips and bloods or... ??? ;)
