    Another first - did I just witness a zed kill itself?

    There is the small off chance someone was watching you and tried to protect you.. a very long range sniper shot can make no sound on the SA. Outside of that, Ive only seen Zeds kill each other while swinging at me.. which is hilarious. Many a Zed has helped me survive ;)

  6. 1. Why do care how others play? Its does not affect you at all, does it? I know you wrapped it up with that bow of yours "and I am in no way telling people not to play a certain way because.." but you have to be honest with yourself that this thread did not need to be made if that was entirely true. 2. Yes, I use my previous military training in game because it works. Formations work. We use them in the military for a reason, and when the game is attempting to be a mil sim then usually those very same real world tactics will work. I even use them in Battlefield series games. It always works out better when you have an organized squad using effective communication, formations and tactics. 3. Why would anyone play a game modded off of Arma, and question using military tactics in it? Last but not least, the only difference in war is training. Equipment is secondary. When you take a 4 man team that has been trained heavily for the past 6 years, and pit them against 100 untrained, unskilled men carrying more weapons and ammo.. Guess who usually wins? The trained team.

    Look. I can see you have a point you are trying to make here, but you need to know a few things first. Night is not broken in anyway. There are full moon nights, and partial moon nights in DayZ that allow you to see easily without lights. Right now though, that is turned off. Reasons why they would do that? So you are forced to test out your flashlight, and lamp. So things can be tested properly for night time. See, if they make it easy mode and have full moon nights or no night at all then how the hell do we test the night? Alpha is for testing, not playing. Its simple. Just wait, or play something else until you can handle the night time

    Im back to the mod!

    DayZ official Vanilla Mod server 3280. Always a large pop, its almost exactly what the SA will be down the road (minus the Arma 3 assets), and the players are much, much better. I mean take last night for example.. I met 3 people at the NWAF, all friendly. Not a single shot fired, and I surprised all 3 of them at night. The odds of that happening on the SA are .001% if that. I looted Balota, and the towns on the way to the NWAF as well as the NWAF, while the server had a minimum of 30 players on and not a single murder happened while I was playing. Random players were giving other randoms helicopter rides, people were calling out parts to each other, the sidechat text that is global really makes the game much better. Players can talk easily, tell each other where the bandits are etc.. 2.5 hours later all I had was an M4A3 CCO with 4 mags, a compass, 2 bandages, hunting knife and some food. Thats it. Not a single backpack found, only 1 other weapon was seen the entire time: a machete. And since you can only have 1 primary without a backpack I had to pass it up for the better protection my M4A3 CCO camo offers. The zeds are actually a threat, and you can use stealth to sneak around them and expect the same results each time if you do it right. Everything is better, and I forgot how good the mod was while I was away playing the SA version. Ill hop into the SA when patches drop from time to time, but no more of this only playing SA.. the mod is where its truly at.

    Parachuting...

    With all this talk of helicopters and whether or not we should say yes, no or remain neutral on them. It got me thinking of the ifs when they finally do implement them.. like parachuting. Some mods it was automatic. Your chute pulled itself once you were a certain height from the ground. Others you had to pull it, some there was no option at all. I think a parachute has a very good place in dayz. And with the container capacity of helicopters perhaps a good idea would be to have a separate parachute that acts just like a backpack. You must remove your pack, place in the heli, and put your chute on if you want the protection incase things go wrong midair. This could also make for some amazing moments if base jumping was possible and perhaps even things like paragliding could happen one day as a form of transportation. Do you think we should even have them in dayz SA, rather automatic or user controlled once helicopters are placed in? Do you like the idea of separate parachutes that are usable for other things than jumping out of aircraft? Do you like turtles?

    DayZ Mod 1.8.0.3 Hotfix.

    We really had such a great community at BMRF.me.. really sad to see Peep have to shut it all down like he did, but things happen. Real life gets in the way.. Back on topic: Im just glad the time is being taken to work on the mod at this point. I genuinely appreciate all the hard work and am willing to offer any help I can.

    questions

    Its possible to have the audio come out of both your monitor/speakers and headset but not to separate the 2 sounds from in game. If you used say teamspeak that would work, but pulling out the ingame chat and separating it from the ingame audio is not possible. You can go hours without eating or drinking even if you sprint everywhere, or nonstop sprint. Ive done it. All you have to do is eat, eat, eat, drink, drink, drink until you are as full as can be. You see that full meter, stop until its gone (short time span) and then immediately start eating or drinking again. You can go somewhere around 4 hours or more without any need to eat if full and probably around 3 hours without drinking if you start with it max full.

    Small question/idea about logging out

    It definitely is possible in some form.. on the servers I used to work on, we had a log out timer of 30 seconds also, but the way ours worked was you would select abort.. when clicked a 30 second timer would start. At any point you could hit escape twice to get back into the game.. and if you selected abort again a new 30 second timer would start. This made it so that the similar screen you see when you hit escape and the options come up to quit game, the edges still show you whats going on and the audio is still present.. So you could save yourself if it was a foolish logout, and combat loggers would still be at enough of a disadvantage that it worked. I think this would be a good thing and have been preaching it since they implemented this 30 second timer log. We need to know that our player is just sitting there.. like a ghost. If we cannot even see what happens to him, then the majority will be confused next time they log in.

    Excellent read.. thank you. I wonder if we met, and Ive been in servers with you folks several times (judging by the CDF tags Ive seen), what would happen? See I play with an RP in mind... I dont stick to it strictly but mostly. I am a volunteer for the CEF chernarus eradication force. Our task to stop the infection at all costs, including taking our own lives. I say our, but its just me doing this, so I will not shoot anyone on the coast that is not well geared and in fact stay away from the coast entirely on stable regular servers. So my only real moral is not shooting fresh spawns or hunting on the coast, and this ties in with my RP as anyone on the coast may be fellow volunteers like me who have just arrived ;). I will kill anyone, and every zed I see. I let none pass without a proper burial, so the infection can be stopped in its tracks. Before the zed spawn update I used to go around clearing towns of zeds, then overwatching for players and taking them down after a short talk about my intentions. I almost always warn people, but lately have learned that logging out is an issue and now will shoot anyone on sight that is in a high risk zone such as an airfield. I stand by my code and remain honorable to it. I am fully aware its just a game here, but while playing I do get caught up in the RP side of it and will often talk to people as if I actually was doing this IRL. So how would I be treated? Would it be an extra gruesome firing squad or maybe less because of my overall intentions? lol.. just wondering here

    Parachuting...

    Loudspeaker is genius. Searchlight.. FLIR.. fast-rope... tow rope to pick up and transport certain military jeeps/trucks.. armor.. painting (with several cans) maybe even camo paint options for little birds/hueys.. inflatable water-landing skiffs (craft from deconstructed rafts).. so many options for further player crafting on the choppers and would give a continuation for those clans that are successful with getting and keeping one running. I really like where these ideas are going.
  19. So Im cruising along.. my jeep is full of weapons, top tier stuff.. tons of ammo. Im all set. Now Im looking for some action down near Balota airstrip or to trade in for a heli.. I stop to eat in the forest. The server starts to get a little laggy.. I get up and use the restroom. I come back a bit disoriented.. and start to drive off while looking in free view And then I hit a tree. Boom. Dead. Server is restarting in 5 mins! .. lol, I hadnt noticed with everything I was doing. Tried to recover the gear to no avail.. All that fun.. lost to a damn tree. :D

    One of my funniest moments was flipping about 150m into the air (no joke) at the Berezino docks I think it was.. sent me flying right in front of about half of my squad. They were in tears before I even hit the ground, and when I did.. somehow I survived with broken legs? It was so damn funny

    Parachuting...

    Good ideas.. I would like 1st person only flying. No weapons on helis or planes. No chutes unless you find one first. Auto-rotate in mid-flight removed, and the ability to recover from engine failure (crash land) if done properly. Give us that, and no one will bitch about helis except about how much of a pain they are to fly.

    The only reason people are freaking out is because of this other lame game coming out that paid to build a ton of hype for it, and no one asked any serious questions other than to turn on BIS. If you pay attention to the way news has come out, its almost all propaganda style blogs about how DayZ is so behind and this other game is going so quickly and will be so much better.. Its all foolishness. Some just dont think, the ones that can, and others are too young or inexperienced to realize this game is coming along well. There will be delays and missed deadlines, as well as things that come out early and little surprises here and there. All of the people that are bitching so loudly will be back each time there is an update.. and eventually they will either fade away or start to like the game. For me its perfect because if I get bored of the SA, I just go play Arma or the DayZ mod. No need to get upset over alpha. Ever.
