The Current State Of Development - DayZ - Understanding the Development Process

That honor belongs to the one and only Fraggle. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/user/44910-fraggle/ ..in this forum at least. ;) -
What are you looking forward to on the Steam Workshop?
Irish. replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Since we are going to have companion dogs.. Well, someone has to make a DayZ: Mad Max style mod. -

..that is because Rocket himself is basically the community manager, and that is essentially the problem. He cannot do it alone. So he has help now, and we shall see how things pan out. But I have a feeling that you have a large group that gets disenfranchised because they don't understand what is happening. -
It seems like an obvious addition, but perhaps animation wise it is tricky? I'd love to see belts that have holsters, attachable tools and pouches.. ammo, medkits, etc.. with the weight system in bound it would just be a matter of trading space for movement. I would love to ditch a backpack, and be able to carry everything on my lower body, chest i.e. vests, belts, large volume clothing, etc.

That is a very valid point. BIS was very lacking in info, and have made some moves recently to rectify that. Hopefully the work they have done on communication continues to grow, as its one of the keys to keeping your test audiences attention throughout the course of a long development period (1.5 years is their hope). If the devs just had a community manager to turn to for all forms of communication and rarely hit the forums/Reddit themselves, two things should happen: They have more time to focus on working, and the communication between the community and the development team should be more streamlined and straightforward. Its a very simple fix, they need to find someone who can handle the task.. and Im sure they already know internally that its not a small one. Its fairly insurmountable to be honest. -
Its going to make me look fluffy.. So Im all in!

You are Dead at the N W A F Fire station tower
Irish. replied to Boxer23's topic in General Discussion
So either you were sniped or found a bug. My question is why are you not learning your lesson about entering that tower? Or making a bug report on it before a forum post? -
I often cry when things don't go perfectly my way also. Especially when it comes to the price of a game Ive already purchased..

Yes, it is correct. In fact, it goes deeper than that even. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/193291-reddit-hicks-206-on-early-access-games-and-discounts-in-the-light-of-recent-abandoned-towns-game/?hl=beta To be fair, the scope of DayZ easily puts it closer to a full 3 year development cycle. We're four and a half months in from the initial Early Access offering, the project has made several large leaps forward on the infrastructure side. (These might be things that don't jump out at people as super visible, but they are core systems that will enable us to support a rich feature set in beta, and release) I feel perfectly comfortable with the estimated 1.5 year Alpha/Beta/Release candidate phase we've discussed publicly with the consumers, and while sure it can get distracting dealing with people insisting they get their favorite up-coming feature "now, now, now", I tend to just focus on the work at hand and look forward to playing the released title with that type of passionate user in the future. -

Do you know that DayZ is made by a company called Bohemia Interactive Studios? DId you know that they made a game called Arma 3? Did you know that they allowed early alpha access, and beta access at a discount over the final release, and when the final release came out it was in fact more expensive? So those that purchased the early access version were not scammed or lied to in any way, and this was recently from the same company. Why do people not think, and I mean you know... really think to the point of research and checking facts, prior to placing their cranium within the safe confines of their lower intestine? And I don't mean you Blazed.. Im speaking broadly and not singling you out. I get it, simple issue of not knowing on your part Im sure. But I mean, this forum has a high rate of posts before thought going on. How is it so damn rampant? Its the internets - it's never been easier to check the facts and people know how to link "please look that up for me with google" better than they actually know how to use google themselves. -
So you knowingly decided that we needed another thread about embarrassing moments? ..I mean you do know the mods merge threads like supercomputers right? ;)

I played the mod, waited for the SA to get through its first few inevitable major bugs and then I purchased it full well knowing what I was getting into.. I love the intensity of the pvp in the mod, and the exploration aspect of playing. I get about the same already from the SA, but must admit the mod is still a much better experience to this day. I have faith in the products BIS puts out, but also do not expect perfection from them as that is not their track record. What they do typically bring is some of the most realistic games out there, and I know that once the SA is finished it should be leaps and bounds better than the mod itself and that is my main reason for purchasing it. Also, it was a steal at its price so I could not go wrong. :)

I feel bad for you man, really I do.. but at least you learned that you should never log out in a place like that. Ever. The logging in process is often long, and usually your player is just sitting there in game the entire time. Sometimes the server restart or a random disconnect will leave you in horrible log-in locations. The only way around this is find an empty server, log-in, move to safer location then find good server.
