Backpacks, tents, ammo, and weapons we have confirmed will stay for days on end, even if untouched, when left on the ground. Everything else seems to get wiped rather quickly when placed on the ground, I believe after the next restart. Its possible other things stay like vests, and cases.. but I and we (clan) have not tested this yet to my knowledge.

:| Stop arguing. We get it, you disagree.

Spot on.. :) I was just trying to define what I meant with clarity, more than argue, for the record.

That is the point I made.. Everyone thinks that. The real truth is it varies from Dev to Dev, but there is a general guideline that the industry has followed since the beginning, and that is what I detailed above. In reality, right now, we are in Early Alpha or First playable version. The next step should be Alpha, or Feature Complete, yet they are talking about going to Beta soon.. that is my point. I know what everyone is told and assumes Alpha means, but look it up.. Plenty of literature on it (not wiki or simple internet definitions) that has been written both currently and decades ago, all stating the same thing.

Yeah.. but Im not whining. Im questioning things, in an area that devs frequent, in the hopes that one of them reads this and thinks to themselves, "yeah, why are we fucking catering to the community?" Because I know that is why persistence is in stable. I want them to stop this whole line of communication thing.. its stupid. Just do work, and let us play. Separate the "Church and State" if you know what I mean.. But Im just pointing things out here, because in all honesty we all have options and we do not HAVE to play on persistence nor do we HAVE to even play DayZ. I am fully aware of the scope of where we are now and where this game is going.. but I am also aware of the fact that if they keep doing what they are doing, this game wont come out in its final state for a LONG TIME. But if they just focus on making the game, and releasing things for testing once they are actually ready.. not do: internal testing, its broke, fix it, do more internal, still broke, push to exp. build for further testing, still broke, push to stable, still broke, add in more items, push to beta, still broke, push to bug fix for the next 3 years because you have so many damned bugs in a game that is so complex that you realize how bad it is now that you have to fix all of those bugs at once rather than not implementing them until they work to a degree that is logical. I mean here is an example of what an Alpha is.. Im going to blow some minds here because everyone confuses Alpha with FIrst Playable or Early Alpha.. which is what we are in now: "Alpha is the stage when key gameplay functionality is implemented, and assets are partially finished. A game in alpha is feature complete, that is, game is playable and contains all the major features. These features may be further revised based on testing and feedback. Additional small, new features may be added, similarly planned, but unimplemented features may be dropped. Programmers focus mainly on finishing the codebase, rather than implementing additions. Alpha occurs eight to ten months before code release."

Oh agreed, and I understand that.. sort of on my point too: why after testing like they did via the exp builds, and knowing its not stable.. push it to stable? I mean if they need more testing, fine.. but shouldn't that happen in exp builds? I feel like the ONLY reason they released it was people complaining about timeframes and things being released. Like.. the ONLY reason.
  9. I had fun last night organizing our base... Shit has more loot than anyone could possibly imagine. Im serious when I say, there are easily more than 100 backpacks filled with gear. :| That's just the tip too.

    Persistence explanation?

Persistence: 1. This is an early alpha build and everything you see now will change. Drastically. 2. Loot does not respawn from a restart, but does respawn from other loot being picked up in persistent enabled servers. This means every item you pick up, and take away or use, it forces another item to spawn. The codes rather basic right now and is distance based in part, so what happens is you start to see towns that are empty of loot or only holding items like boots and books. On the outskirts of these towns, the new loot spawned in, and its possible that it was picked up as well, moving the newly spawned in loot further North and West. This causes 2 problems: barren areas that have no loot, and loot havens that are difficult to even loot in some cases because there are just too many items on the ground. If you spawn in fresh and do not get lucky enough to find either an unlooted area or one of the loot havens, then you typically either starve to death or meek out a very meager existence living off the land. 3. The loot "bubble" the forces new loot to not spawn around you is not flawless, and seems to be causing areas to get "locked" out of any loot being able to spawn there. I think that is why we see loot havens, because the loot has nowhere else to spawn in. The game sort of locks out areas for good, and the new loot all spawns in small concentrated areas. So if you find loot.. any at all. Take it, use it, get rid of it. Do what ever you can, to force new loot to spawn in. And if you find a loot haven on your own server, or one you call home.. remember it. The theory is that only a small amount exist on each server, so finding them all would mean your ability to survive well, versus perhaps not at all. 4. Loot can be damaged, it just needs to be on your person. It will not degrade on the ground at all currently. It will however disappear if you placed it there, and do not touch it for several dayz on end and it is not in a tent or other container that does not get removed eventually. This rule seems to not stand as true if you picked up an item and moved it only a short distance, in those cases the server seems to treat it as a spawned item and it stays regardless if touched. This is probably attached to the "loot bubble" that defines where new loot can spawn in. 5. I am making educated guesses at best, as I did not read the code and have no clue about that sort of stuff really.. I have played a lot, watched a lot, and read about it a lot (the .50 build) so Ive gathered up some pretty good information. Hopefully my additions above help you all. If not.. I mean.. piss off :) j/k
  11. Last night I met someone.. we exchanged "hello's" Apparently my Hello, is much more effective.. ;)
  12. Went from Novo, to NWAF, to Zeleno.. Logged there.
  13. Fuck yes!... Ive always loved hopping on your clans server, because its always so inviting and everyone is so friendly. Especially with their bullets. Everytime I join, someone tries to give me a bunch of ammo.. ..in my head. ^_^
  14. Needs both if possible... Id love to see blood all over the walls after a chainsaw murder. Or people torn to shreds by Zeds, with limbs and blood all over the floor. As well as the text if you scroll telling you what happened.. the body temp could be the way you tell how long ago it happened, once you learn how it works.. make that thermometer more useful ;)
  15. oh yes, well we need that too.
  16. you two.. I almost woke up my son laughing at that. :P

Thoughts on the new .50 Update...

I can already tell you.. and there are numerous videos on the newer version of weather/season and its affect on the player.. But Ill let you have your fun first. ;) Just a tip though, its all based on movement now really.. still have heat values, but movement is what really brings your temp up. You can bring it back down instantly if you find out how.. again, Ill let you test it all out. Have fun man!

    Current persistence in 0.50 patch

May have been.. but he was concise and explained things thoroughly in my opinion. Sometimes being a dick sucks, but its necessary to cut through all the BS we have in this world.. Not to imply that anyone in here was needing him to be curt, just that sometimes even though its brash.. its not that bad to deal with if they are still being constructive. And to answer your question OP.. it works on the exp build and they are one and the same currently.. I had a stash all week that stayed up fine. But many servers that I set stuff down in, crashed so no way to retrieve it.. which goes back to what was pointed out rather harshly perhaps: you cant trust it, but if it works.. and you find that it does for you on a certain server.. great. Come let us know, once you get there. Im sure you'll find it works out fine.. but again, you cant trust that the server will stay live or not reset in some way causing you to lose your stash.

The DSCI: DayZ Standalone Crime investigators

So I think that the bodies should eventually stick around until restart or burrying.. and when you check pulse it should until the body is gone say how they died "..unknown entity (or better yet it still says the name) is cold to the touch and died from .." : "gunshot wounds" "blunt trauma to the head" "face eaten off" "stabbed to death" "dismembered" etc. Like it is now but richer, deeper, and make it enjoyable to find out how people died that you come across..

    New backpack?

Im sure Im like number 14 to say this, but I had no time to scroll and read.. so here it goes. Black Dry Bag is in.. use it until other options arise.

    welding mask

Oh its not random.. I see welding (to fix vehicles) in our eventual future. Youll have to find the parts, the vehicle, the welding mask, and the welder as well as other things probably just to think about fixing certain issues.. going to be a nightmare, and a blast. :)

Thoughts on the new .50 Update...

Good to know, thanks man. I havent got my chance to hop in yet.. and only got a minute to talk to my clan and ask how it was.. Has anyone been through several restarts yet and seen how loot is spawning and respawning if at all?

    Controller support confirmed?

I knew it was coming eventually.. Im tentative to see what sort of influence this game going to console has on its final design. Interested, yet tentative. :)
