On dead players. ;)

So these past few days have been strange indeed.. First, Im one of 2 on a server at the NWAF. Ive been away from dayz for a while so lately Ive been jumping on low pops to try to get back in the swing of things. So Im in this super duper low pop.. lol, and low and behold I bump into the other guy. Now its the NWAF so I dont think its strange at all. I follow him around for a bit and eventually he does an about-face and runs right into me.. it scares me so I shoot him. Feel bad for a minute, but then I move on. Later that day, Im at the tent city in Myshkino. There are 3 or 4 people on the server. I had lost connection earlier on the server, so I stopped to do some real life stuff and when I logged back in I was about 20m next to the officer barracks. I start to run towards it, and to my surprise some guy exits right in front of me.. I hightailed it around the side, and hid near the truck crash just on the right of it. My heart is pounding, and I remember why I liked dayz to begin with. Im having fun now, finally. But then I see him, he decided to hunt me down I guess or something. He never said anything, and he turned and pointed his rifle at me so I shot him with my sks. I start to just leave his body there, and bolt to cover knowing he probably has a friend nearby when I notice he has an Aug rifle on him. So I am quickly filled with greed and start looting his body. I get done, and head towards some tents. Ive now forgotten about any friends of his and feel generally alone. And then I see him.. his buddy. He is aiming at me, but with this almost tangible look of, "wtf?" on his face. So I take cover. He runs inside a tent. I flank all the way around and shoot him with the Aug. I feel like Rambo. But again, its Myshkino so I dont feel like things are too weird.. even though thats two low pop contacts in a few hours. The next day, I log into yet another server (I know Im a server whore, hate me). There is just 2 of us on. I spawn in berezino as a freshie. I loot for about 10 mins, and then it happens... I bump into the only other guy on the server again! We exchanged friendly contact. He tells me over sidechat he is new to the game, and I offer to help him out. We part ways amicably and I realize.. I am some sort of genetic mutant capable of attracting other players like a human magnet. Anyone else have this "gift"? :P

Yesterday I wanted to see how many "encounters" I could have a full pop server.. I was as foolish as possible, running around in my underwear with a lit flare, etc. I was killed roughly 6 times in less than 10 minutes. :D

This just happened to me.. found heli crashes, was fully geared for the most part when I got "player xxx is losing connection".. I waited the 90 seconds countdown, knowing that my player might not make it out alive since I was on the second floor of a police station. I logged back in after about 1 minute. Fresh spawn. But see, to me its just time to start over again and no big deal.. I did however not play on that server any longer B)

Are you seeing the "wait for host" message for an extended period of time when this happens (i.e. joining a restarting server before it's connected properly to the hive) ?

I havent had my character "reset" in ages.. like as in at least a year. And I play on countless different servers, both private and public. OP, are you sure you're not joining private shards? Does this genuinely happen only on public servers, and only on either 1st or 3rd person?

I agree Blunce.. its rather cheap, but in an early access game, perhaps its necessary while there are nasty bugs still present? Full Disclaimer: I've used it before when trying to get a "better" spawn.

We had the word friendly that lasted all of about 3 minutes. It worked for a brief moment to let others know we could be trusted, but the trust has been lost and tarnished by those abusing the "agreement" we all had. We have never had a way to tell others that a town or area belongs to a group, like graffiti on walls or flags flying of certain colors or even with writing on them like clan tags, etc.. I believe its time in this game that eventually we have options like this. Its been brought up before, but I think being able to craft a white flag that you could attach to your back in place of a rifle that would stand out drastically to others much like pictured here, would be a great idea: A flag on the back could then be placed in the hands, to be held during times of interaction with other players. This would let them know that while you hold it, you are defenseless and hopefully therefore can be trusted. This can obviously be abused, but it leaves the abuser at a serious disadvantage without sniper friends at a distance.. and we are always open to that no matter what the scenario. All of us are. At least this gives us a valid option rather than simply being tied up or cuffed so that the player knows we cant do anything to them. This could also be used on the edges of towns or outside buildings, camps, player made bases to let others know who you are to some degree. The =UN= clan would have a blue flag, with =UN= on it and things like that would make marking territory quite enjoyable for all I believe. KOS players could try to take land from others and hold their own. Heroes could claim areas as friendly and police them with the knowledge that the flags let players know what to expect in that area. Clans could mark their bases, etc.. We could place the flag in our bag to conceal and then on our backs when we see others or hold it to let them know, we really are trying hard to be seen as friendly. They should all be non persistent unless placed in specific ways like on flag poles in towns, or larger crafted flag poles at player made camps. What do you think of the idea of flags in dayz? Crafting a stick with a rag or tshirt to make colored flags and using black or green spray paint to write on them? Discuss your ideas and input below.

Truth be spoken. I mean.. one of the first things they gave us in this game is the M4 and handcuffs. How anyone got confused from there on out is beyond me.
