Overall, this patch puts dayz in a really good state with a few bugs. I like the new drink system a lot. I usually just went soda to soda with no issues, and now dehydration can happen (it might be a bit too rapid a rate, not too sure yet). However, I do have two main issues both with zombies. Their attack radius is either too long or bugged. It really makes any town completely not worth going into. I can work with their high damage output, but the range is too much. Another issue for me is zombies spawning in a line behind me as I run. Every few seconds about 10-15 feet behind me a new aggroed zombie spawns in. This can lead to me being chased by 30 zeds or so. >:( And Borges post before mine, I have the same issue. It is a bit drastic. This overall is a great step in the direction for dayz :beans: :beans: :beans: . Good job all, just keep it up.

Arma 2 DLCs..Buy all or just specific ones?
MasterPepper7 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So here is my question. All of Arma 2's DLC are for sale on steam, and I know they will only boost textures in Dayz. Is it recommended to buy all 3 with perks visiable from each one, or does one certain pack (like BAF) do more than others? Any info would be great, just wondering. Long Live Dayz Mod! <3 -
Arma 2 DLCs..Buy all or just specific ones?
MasterPepper7 replied to MasterPepper7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thanks for info, got them all. Arma 2 extra missions was also a nice addition, I am sure they will be played at some point. -
I played the mod as a hero, i found it hands down the best way to play Unless they add distinct medical clothing or hero markers so I can display my intentions from a distance, i dunno...hopefully vehicles will rekindle the SA into a game that finally beats the mod for amount of stuff to actually do

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

I really wish there was some indication. I understand how that is not realistic, but a few aspects of this game really make the mod shine... -
Dayz - More complaining, less gaming

Anyone Miss the Mod's Medical and Humanity Approach?
MasterPepper7 posted a topic in General Discussion
First off, the SA is awesome. It has several upgrades from the Mod and the new survival aspects will take it into a new realm of awesome. Once vehicles hit, I will play nothing else, and there is still a ways to go. This said, I have stopped playing it for some time, and I am back in the mod. Why? The Mod is a Simulator that got 1.7 million players by NOT being completely lifelike. I would argue that this is an aspect that I have not seen in the SA at all. What is better for me -> An awesome video game, not a simulator where I will spend hours doing simply basic and trivial survival things (EVEN THOUGH I recognize this as a core game mechanic, I would kill for the old medical supplies as opposed to ALL the new aspects such as colds and heart attacks) and then move up to better things with some morphine and a pack of antibiotics being all that is required. Basically, I would rather worry about zombies, look for helicopters, shoot bandits, and talk with heroes (I vote for this system to come back). This survival approach has merits, but I have 400 hours in the mod with its limits, bugs, and 3 medical items. If I could have the Mod with better graphics and mechanics only, I would be happier. -
Anyone Miss the Mod's Medical and Humanity Approach?
MasterPepper7 replied to MasterPepper7's topic in General Discussion
I agree the humanity system was broken as all hell, but if this could be tweaked into a new system, I would be all for it But I do recognize the value of everyone being constantly considered a threat without cautions being given by the game. I am glad I do not make these decisions :D -
Anyone Miss the Mod's Medical and Humanity Approach?

Esolu - Yes, by giving my two cents, I am imposing my will of the exact definition of fun to all. Bud, comments like that do not pull you ahead any or win you any Internet fame. The SA is awesome, but I always felt that there was more to Dayz then just the survival aspects. Getting enough tools and medical loot was always step 1, then I could move onto Step 2 whichever that was. The humanity system was broken, but I still like player recognition even if it's not "like that in real life." But maybe I am just completely mad; this is probably more accurate. Just my opinion. -
This just happened to me as well. The bandit actually wounded me, then I killed him. Still lost my hero skin. Dayz takes so much away...

was giving people rides along the east coast in my little blue van, life is good the inventory - 1 frag grenade Pick this guy up, stop at a gas station for some fuel While fueling up the van, i look back the guy is in a baseball throwing animation......i look down Boom.....my poor liddle van....

Ok, so i played through 1.7.7.1, and im glad of the changes. Zombies are easy to lose, but the ever present death sentence of infection balances that. Loot is at a decent place, you can get what you need and that's about it. I would like to see the medical/hospital spawns pumped up a little since everyone needs a morphine or two. But overall i like this waaaaay better than 1.7.7. This said, I still miss dayz from before this patch. Where the zombies a joke? Yes. Was pvp, spawn-camping, and loot present everywhere? Yes. But i never really considered this an issue since my goal in the game as a hero was mainly to fix vehicles and give rides. With this current setup, a lone wolf simply cannot get a vehicle up and running. You might find 1 wheel in 3 towns and cars spawn in needing 3 or more. There was always a huge thrill to gun a pickup or van through cherno or electro to see if you could live through it.... Do I understand the thoughts behind the patches? Yes, this is dayz, a zombie survival game which makes the changes to the zombies perfectly valid. But the loot (especially for vehicles) makes me sad that i must run everywhere from here on out. Just my two cents, and I appreciate all the effort put into this so far.

the zombies are just fine, no problems I actually find med supplies now its just i miss the vehicle aspect of the game....you pass fuel stations, parts, and cars that are simply too broken too fix by meself....i mean, why keep them in the game at all if you need a 3 man squad to fix a motorcycle?

You know you are playing too much DayZ when...

When you start planning your day around server resets -
As of 1.7.7.1, I really like where the game is at. Compared to the old version where you hoarded gear and backpacks brimming with morphine. Loot - Its possible to get all you need, just takes awhile Zeds - Great right now. Can be lost, but infection is a death sentence Weapon Spawns - Expanded, you can find military stuff inside castles now, and balota's oceanside camp is a GOLDMINE My 1 Gleaming Problem - Everyone is running around. Cars spawn in too broken to fix even before loot was limited. Now they just sit there till a reset. I think it was balanced when helicopters required a squad to maintain, and cars for the lone wolves. IF ONLY cars came in like they used too (not 100% but working) this would be perfect

^ feel the same way Like this setup, far better than 1.7.7 Fixing vehicles is still a pain, so i guess my days of getting a little bird up every few days are long gone....but overall good job

What it means to me to be a hero
MasterPepper7 replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I played a little breaking point recently as a shoot on sight bandit ( a first) and that really had no appeal to me. Poor guys just running around to randomly eat a bullet... Being a hero in dayz (especially with this new patch) is extremely difficult but worth it completely. Carry on Gents! And P.S. - I live in the southern US, and the hero skin is a flannel jacket. This means i have a crusade to maintain this outfit regardless of cost XD -
I gave it another day, and I still hate this patch. I play on a vanilla server and found a car. I then proceeded to hit every town around the map including zelengorsk, vybor, berezino, and a few others. My total loot? A hunting knife, compass, binocs, a lee, and 1 THING of antibiotics. the berezino hospital actually had ZERO MEDICAL SUPPLIES. If this patch stays the same, im calling it quits till the standalone (and praying nightly for a different setup in that game).
-
Ok this patch did a lot that I like. The Combine mags option, new guns/weapons, and other various things are great. This said, i do not like this new form of dayz. The value of antibiotics has jumped through the roof and they rarely spawn (I found 1, used it, then immediately got infected again). The zombie speeds are fine, but the loot spawns (ESPECIALLY MEDICAL) make it annoying difficult combined with this crazy infection rate. If only these two things were fixed, this patch could have descended from on high wrapped in bacon. Side note- Sure the AS50 was kinda dumb, but i miss the m107....wish they could have just lowered the damage or something

We could call new-spawns Dwarves since they all have axes :D

Even if you all are running a laptop, you can still post in the Can I Run it Thread. They answered me rather quickly with good answers. To answer the post, i have an HP Envy with a i5 - 3230 processor, nvidia GT 650 M graphics card, and 8 GB of memory. Runs just dandy on medium settings, might be able to do more but I haven't really tried it. cost around 860 USD.

Don't Be Fooled by Other Players: "Bad Guns" are Hidden Gems!
MasterPepper7 replied to applejaxc's topic in New Player Discussion
G17 is awesome, mainly for clip size. M1911 is still my standard go to gun. I hated the lee infield with a passion for awhile, but I now see its great potential against players and zombies. Its a must use for early scavenging. :D -
The things you're not proud of. What you did in Dayz. Tell us your stories.
MasterPepper7 replied to soulsil11's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sitting outside Stary Sober. There was actually a car next to the white fake car. So I scope it out. 2 bodies already there, car parts on both of them. So I retreat to the hill behind it and wait. Over the next hour or so, 2 more people periodically came up and fixed the car. I had a DMR so they were easy kills. The difficult part came in when i tried to take the car. 1 guy came into town who knew what was going down. He used every piece of cover in the town and damn near circled the entire area before he made a go for the repaired car. Killing tards who rush a car on sight teaches them a valuable lesson, but sniping the guy who spent 15 minutes checking the town felt kinda bad...but free fixed car for me :D
