    Random starting gear...

Yes, that would bugger it up. I don't think it needs be that complex anyways...

Where do I find leather jacket?

I had one for all of 5 minutes. Pristine and then a zombie ruined it in one hit. It's the first time in awhile I felt the game truly slighted me!

    Crosshair/Dot gone soon.

Yeah, but what about the interaction bonus it gives? Opening gates and actually "seeing" gear that is in precarious spots is hard enough...

    Random starting gear...

I could see a knife or maybe even an axe as a player might have been out collecting firewood, sure!

I the game doing it on purpose?

I don't think you can loot your own corpse. Last I heard, once you die someone else can loot you, but you couldn't access your previous self...
  6. I think people are making an assumption that the DayZ mod was dead as they as individuals quit playing it. The only true drop in numbers or servers I noticed was after StandAlone came out. Just because you quit playing it doesn't mean thousands quit playing it at the same time...
  7. I can read sarcasm, but it's the inflection of voice that makes it obvious. <_<
  8. Kill it, definitely, let modding be in Arma and let Arma 2 be it's own game. We don't any more DayZ shit

    Ok, so it happened again.

It sounds like you got lucky and finding that 'friendly' first and twice lucky not to have been shot by him!
  10. Then this thread, or at least 90% of the comments, should make you take heart! Consider how they all Love SA. If there is any truth to what they are spouting, then you will not have trouble finding people to play with or servers to play on. Heck, start your own server and run it complete vanilla. If people really do want this as the thread suggests then they will come....
  11. Did you know that you can go into the first mod and filter out original, unmodified public servers?
  12. Pray tell, what happened? Can you be specific?
  13. I've always been confused by this line of thinking. How do you mean ruined? Because I am here to tell and reassure you that vanilla DayZ won't disappear because of a mod. And perhaps most importantly, you do not have to play the mods. If anything, mods will add years of life to DayZ. I played Battlefield 1942 and several mods for it, switching back and forth between the 'vanilla' and forgotten hope, highway 74, battle group, etc., along with several thousands of people. That game is 10 years old and people are still playing and modifying it.
  14. I've felt the first few months of SA Alpha had made people grow complacent as the zombies were no threat, really at all. The current iteration of zombies is one of necessity, I think. No, they aren't at all smart. Yes, they glitch through everything. But they are closer to the threat they are supposed to be. I've always felt that's supposed to be the game's Yin and Yang, whether or not you choose PvE, grouping with other players against the Hordes and bandits, or playing PvP, risking everything to go it alone. Even after the zombies are sorted there will be complaints about them. But they are the reason for the apocalypse, at least in this universe. People will just have to deal with it...

    Dean Hall On PvE

Of course the thing is you don't have to play on PvE servers. I wouldn't want to play that way either, but I have no problem with people creating their own rooms and letting the PvP people enjoy their rooms...
  16. How can you say with certainty they will never be the primary threat? If they implement zombies the way they want to, say 10,000 zombies on the map localized mostly in populated areas? Sorry buddy, but you're threat level to my individual person became a lot smaller...
  17. True, but it's kind of a tit for tat, wouldn't you agree? Players get to do a number of things that are 'unfair' to gameplay because the game mechanics aren't complete. The way the zombies currently are does illustrate to an extent how players in the DayZ world will react to the hordes, whether there are a hundred zombies there at that moment or if they spawn in one at a time.
  18. Optimization Ability to use multiple cores Servers can now use more memory Well then, I'm interested as to what's being used currently and what that change will be. This could be huge.
  19. More zombies, please. The spawn points are wrong for them, though. Can you affix their spawns to buildings, dense tree growth, etc?
  20. I voted "No" on this poll because there are not enough zombies. You're just going to have to rethink your PvP tactics is all. I am of the opinion that we should be allowed to play as zombies ourselves. I would be curious to see how that would pay out...
  21. Go play Wasteland or hell, make a mod that suits your tastes. Zombie apocalypse! Fuck Yeah!!

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

Really? I see the guys talking about guillie suits and range finders loving Duck Dynasty. How poetic...
  23. napalmdog

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

I wonder why it's so popular then...
  24. napalmdog

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

I think it's because some people want the atmosphere and feel of something like "the walking dead". Imagine how boring that show would be if all the characters were fully kitted military personnel...
