So far I'm not too thrilled with Standalone. I feel everything is amazing about it in every single aspect BUT the fact of that nothing has changed when it comes to PvP except for nobody having guns really. I mean, this is the first day and it has consisted of me resorting to slugfests with other players because they just feel like... well following me around trying to punch me. I've gotten into several fights, and been beaten to death while looting. I feel as if when we get 100+ player servers it's just gonna be 100 people running around trying to punch each other. This truly makes me sad.... All I've been doing is trying to bug hunt and enjoy myself by exploring but apparently 95% of people could give two shits about that.

Then I'm afraid I have no idea. Never dealt with a dedicated server before. There should be some place to check server logs, but I've no idea how to access it. This is probably something I would take to http://opendayz.net/, they know exactly what they're talking about and can help with practically everything related to coding and managing a server. Just drop a thread down and wait. It's where I learned and got into reading server logs and coding.

No, I don't. I've been playing the game for a long time. I have seen it go through stages that were both good, and bad. The survival stage, the hacking stage, the youtube craze, and then a few more stages that started changing the game into what it is now. I'm never going to cast away DayZ, but the game for me has changed from something I play religiously, to something I play casually. I have no doubt that there are good servers out there that would be very fun to play on. The musty servers are a prime example. However, it's just not a game that I feel like investing anymore hours into without playing with someone in Teamspeak and such, and they'd have to ask me to play. lol. Your whole "novelty" theory is great and all, but you're pretty much speaking the truth about all games. Once someone has become tired of a game, they simply stop playing it. That's what I'm doing with DayZ. It's pretty respectable to say I got over 800 hours out of it. Edit- And I'm not blaming the community as a whole, I'm blaming the part of the 'community' that has turned the game into Battlefield with zombies. When I want to play DayZ, I wanna enjoy the landscape, explore, and meet new people. I'm not scared whatsoever of player interaction, I embrace it... but when 99% of people are out there shooting everything that moves, I find it hard to want to play the game. I don't wanna hear any "g3t b3tt3r br0" comments either. I have no problems killing someone that tries to kill me (most of the time), but the premise of killing people that I could interact with just doesn't appeal to me.

Everyone is sick of the mod is why. It's literally the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over...... and over and over and over again. When you put over 700-800 hours into a game like I (and many others) have in DayZ, you really start to move on to other things because you're sick of the repetitive nature of what you're doing. I did a brief stint in Origins after done with the Vanilla mod, and then moved around between Namalsk and Origins afterwards. I don't play Epoch mainly because I really don't care for the concept and view it as Wastleland with zombies. Once the standalone comes out (after Alpha) I'm confident that I'll get back into the game, but until then, I'll have practically nothing to do with it. I cannot justify playing it anymore, the game has approached Call of Duty level of shittiness IMO. Not because of the game itself, but because of the community.

But I guess I have to realize that some people on the internet lack the comprehension or intelligence to figure anything out. Looks like I've found a prime example. I really don't know why I keep engaging in conversations with people that are clearly too stupid to use any real world understanding. Maybe it's because in my profession I have to keep my mouth shut around people with levels of unimaginable stupidity. Oh well. I'm not gonna rack up another warning point arguing with someone who has been a member for less than a month and can't come up with an actual, non-troll name.
