it doesnt matter if you "know how to gear up" *said in a cocky ignorant voice* the NVGs are so rare that you dont just come across them while gearing up any ol' time. you may have once, maybe even twice (not probable) but guy is correct in saying 2.6% of players have them, because the stat was posted in the stat forum. not a typical "gear up" item, its a lucky gear up item. i agree that this is a very good load up though

if you were in a real zombie apocalypse and some one tried to kill you and they didnt succeed, from that point on, you would be the person trying to kill first. or not just a thought

is there a server setting that enables a small light transparent circle marking every living/living dead thing in my sight? the closer i get to any creature or player, the circle gets bigger. i can even see it through walls, hills, trees.... anything and it shows me things that are far away too. Its only been on 2 servers that i noticed... i do not remember which. but if this is a setting, ill know to avoid it. because it ruins the game for me. i do not believe i have taken any hallucinogens... recently.... so thats not it

yeah i typically only play on veteran servers. i may have stumbled into a recruit server, but i dont believe i did. i had never seen this till last night, and i have been playing for at least a month, hopping around servers always my apology for making a new thread about an existing issue/question

try switching the chat to Direct Chat instead of Global Chat which is what its set by default, which is blocked as for the punishments for murderers, when rocket took out the bandit skin he said that the humanity level will stay in for undisclosed purposes (probably because he hadnt thought of anything for it yet, but hes busy, its understandable) so dont worry you guys im sure something is being worked on. hes already fixed the careless marakov weilding fresh spawns by giving us no weapons at start, so something will come... or not. if not, it keeps to the realism that is DayZ and im fine with that. i get murdered unarmed constantly, and it makes me mad, but then i change how i approach the situation. Learn. Carry steak, morphine and bandages with you and shoot players legs, break them or knock them out. take their weapon, bandage them, feed them, bring them back to full function, give them a weapon, walk behind them.... force them into friendship!!! change yourself to fit the game we all love, dont change the game we all love to fit yourself

I know it would be more complication, and i love this idea, but a more realistic approach to trading rather than pregaming in a forum would compliment the realistic goal of this game. keeping it how it is with a posting when and where and asking for some help is reasonable because it wouldnt take off without that. with the "fence" trading whatever comes in i think gives it more realistic depth. thats just me, ill use it either way :)

yeah and after we remove the PVP lets remove the zombies.... it would be so much easier to score loot

i think this would be a great idea, get some of the hill campers to get up and move at some point, gives big groups of people something to do. or even get a whole server to decide to come at it from all angles. Common threat Hordes of zombies = Bringing people together

as both a bandit and a survivor (mostly survivor cause i feel the pain of banditry on a regular basis) i see how both sides are at a mutual gain from this. and the fact that players are making this game their own by setting up small "mini-game"-esque situations is what makes this game great. its a great concentration of good equipment for both survivors and bandits. and if there werent bandits attacking this trading post, it wouldnt be a simulation of a zombie apoc at all. so thank you all for helping bring this game closer to its full potential by respectfully trying to kill eachother for the sake of reality

No gun at respawn? Impossible for beginners

i like it better with no starting weapon. at first i was a bit weary about it, but after a while i realized that i feel more accomplished once my inventory is full because hardly anything was handed to me. the game is hard but completely worth learning. i think the most successful character ive had so far has been since the update with making the zombies more challenging and taking the starting equipment.... also ive noticed that the main DayZ page "Average Life Expectancy" has gone down a few min :) this i like -
i love the idea of two large groups going at it in all out war, both sides could be ready for a huge attack, Trading Post being the best equipped but bandits have the element of surprise. Helicopter attack whilst people are charging the post and vehicles zooming in to get close enough to jump out and try to infiltrate. when/if servers get bigger (100-200).... would be enough to make even the most strong boweled men poo in excitement

i was in the same boat (less tears), then i kept playing and got better... bottle up those tears and throw them at the Zs, that can be your starter weapon... only problem is, they love the taste of tears.......... we all do

Are there any veterans that can offer some advice ?

i agree with the others about getting a mic and talking to other players to hopefully form a companionship. make sure you see them but they dont see you (very important, you want the upper hand) most players will kill you for fear of death themselves but if you can show that you could kill them and havent yet they might just trust you. i suggest this for the first hour or so, usually once i get my inventory full of what i want (compass, map, matches, hatchet, hunting knife, weapon w/ ammo, binocs, frank and beans) i become even more weary of other players because theres something worth losing at this point (still dont care if you die even at this point, its going to happen, alot) its still a big let down when a player you fully intend on teaming up with kills you at first sight, so avoid or kill if you have any sort of suspicion they are making a move to kill, cause most will. that is what makes it fun and unrelenting though. ive had too many times where we are staring eachother down and the other person isnt responding and its mostly wait for some one to make the first move ( in my case its usually them) all in all have fun, cause it is fun -
On Thursday I had $100 to my name. Now I have $70 and it was worth EVERY PENNY! I plan to donate as soon as finances allow because both teams (arma and dayz) of dev's deserve it
