Progression System in DayZ Standalone
CreepySalad replied to BoaDrago's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not if you don't make it shitty. It's not going to say "BANDAGE FIRST" You'll be thrown into a situation where you don't know the solution to unless you know about medical stuff. Also, yes, Day Z is trying to be a realistic type game. Why else would you use a MILITARY SIMULATOR of all things if you weren't trying to be SOMEWHAT realistic. I don't know if your trying to be a dick, but you should stop. -

The TES series isn't trying to be a realism-esque game. -

Like, six. I don't understand how a system where you have to find out how to deal with the situation yourself would ruin the experience more than a "YOU LEVELED UP!" popping up on your screen after you ran for a bit. It doesn't even HAVE to be a visual based minigame. It could be just a text based deal. "________ has several burn marks on his left arm (broken). What do you want to do? •Bandage •Splint •Apply morphine •Apply lotion •Apply Burn cream •Apply Gasoline •Stitch •Give alcohol •Apply alcohol •Etc." A visual thing would be better, as you could see what you were doing. But there's always a different variable to wounds. Ever played that flash game where you were a field medic in old-timey wars? I forgot what it's called, but like that, except harder, and not telling you what to do. -

>"An experience point (often abbreviated to Exp or XP) is a unit of measurement used in many role-playing games (RPGs) and role-playing video games to quantify a player character's progression through the game. Experience points are generally awarded for the completion of quests, overcoming obstacles and opponents, and for successful role-playing. In many RPGs, characters start as fairly weak and untrained. When a sufficient amount of experience is obtained, the character "levels up", achieving the next stage of character development. Such an event usually increases the character's statistics, such as health points and strength, and may permit the character to acquire new abilities or improve existing ones. In some role-playing games, particularly those derived from Dungeons & Dragons, experience points are used to improve characters in discrete experience levels; in other games, such as GURPS and the World of Darkness games, experience points are spent on specific abilities or attributes chosen by the player." Also, I've made plenty of friends on Day Z. Help new people, and stop KOSing yourself, and you'd get some nice experiences out of the many different people in the server. RPGs are now regularly known as, (and described as) games like Persona and therefore, will be described as such by me, and anyone else who's played a video game. EXP is just a false form of progression, at least it would be in this game. I hated FC3 for this reason as well. The previous games did an excellent job in making you feel like you were against the odds, which was completely ruined in FC3, due to one of the reasons being perks and EXP. If you want to play a RPG, you should go play one. No need to be a dick-wrinkle as well. Calm down. -
More cars. (This is not a "ADD A LIMO" thread.)
CreepySalad replied to CreepySalad's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It would still be like that. It's just instead of charred, exploded cars, they'd be abandoned. A lot of which wouldn't be working. Why else would you ditch a car? But I can see where your coming from. I just think it'd be more realistic, as all. -
Yeah, they shouldn't be. They should be devastating. To the point where you don't want to take chances with a guy with a Makarov.

Has it? I didn't see it. If so, toss me a link, and I can close this right up. -
Progression System in DayZ Standalone
CreepySalad replied to BoaDrago's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Aw, I forgot about that game. Anyway, yeah, that's what I was thinking. But with vehicle repairs too. It'd add depth and immersion if it's done right. If done wrong, though... -

Yeah, I was thinking about that as well, then I remembered, ARMA II has a shitload of vehicles being moved around on servers, which a lot of the time is 70+ players. I haven't really played much ARMA, (I'm pretty bad with military talk, too nervous for a server) but from what I've seen, it runs very smoothly with 200+ vehicles. And I don't think we'd need that many, as most of Chernosk (i think that's what it's called) is rural. A lot of cars (10 or 20) in the 5 or 6 cities, and a few stray ones out and about in the country. With the keys, a lot of people I knew wouldn't support, but I think it's a good idea, so you kinda surprised me with that. But, I digress. Thanks for the feedback. -
A Great suggestion for DayZ Standalone or a mod.
CreepySalad replied to tomk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
In real life, killing is overpowered. Choking is overpowered, guns are overpowered, knives, fists, etc. I think we should just up the damage on everything. There'd be no need to run up to a guy and knock him unconscious to kill him if you could just stab him, or shoot him. So basically, "real up" the damages. -
But if all you did was sit and reload, you'd be positive you leveled up your reload. It doesn't matter if it's hidden. What matters is that it's there.

You're... you're kidding, right? You're thinking of an RPG. Not an MMO. MMO just means lots of players on one server. RPG means leveling, EXP, etcetera. I understand if Day Z was trying to be this, but it's not. The stuff you find isn't the only content of the game, it's the experiences that are gained from other player interactions. If that's not enough for you, then this isn't the game for you. I don't understand how it WOULDN'T be, considering there's an endless amount of things you could do with other players, but I guess it's not your cup of tea. I hear they're adding a perk system in War Z, though. Why don't you try that one out? It's just like WOW, except in first person, and zombies. Not even joking here, I'm serious. Go play that if you want Day Z with leveling. I heard they're improving it. -
Handheld flares - worth looking into?
CreepySalad replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I wouldn't mind different kind of flares found on dead soldiers, or in military areas. That'd be kinda cool. -
I think guns should be "overpowered." They shoot red-hot lead at you over 600 MPH. They are dangerous, and should be represented as such in game. Hopefully with this revamped damage system, hits to certain places on the body should do more damage. They could counter that by making ammo and guns themselves, way more rare.

please no

Rare items shouldn't automatically be the best.
CreepySalad replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yes. YES. With the gun durability thing being added, having like, airsoft guns or model/replicas, that don't look different from actual guns would be kinda cool. With the airsoft guns, there should be an indicator. Like, when reloading your mag, your rounds not being able to fit. The replica could be the same thing, I think. Never held a replica. -

You...You really aren't sure how this experiment is supposed to be, are you? If brutal survival is boring to you, go play L4D or the Nazi Zombie gamemode on CoD. The fun comes from the brutal difficulty, tension, and the joy you feel from finding good loot. If you don't like that, go play something else. This isn't your kind of game. -
Same thing. They're accepted as silencers even among gun professionals.

don't like the cure part.

I am so angry right now. No. -
I think we should just have more buildings period. No need for ULTRA COOL LOOT It should be realistic, and maybe find a couple of guns (rare. of of the ground, or dead cops)
-
i like all of these ideas. with the silencers, they shouldn't be too quiet, please. I want a realistic sounding silenced gun, especially considering there probably won't be subsonic ammo sitting around. I would like it of they'd study up, and put appropriate sound levels in the game. But it's not necessary, I guess. I'm rambling. Nice ideas.

give us what we (do not) need! - junk and unique loot
CreepySalad replied to joe_mcentire's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I love it. It would totally add depth to the game. Finding seemingly useless stuff, and there being a small use for them, (or even none!) would be cool just to have. -
Only a person who wants the game better would say that (; (Quick Edit: I like that you can take a joke. Thanks for the beans.)
