When will loot start spawning in camo buildings again?
IkaikaKekai replied to Cavity's topic in Suggestions
When people stop wall glitching. -
Since it's wireless the first thing that comes to mind is either some sort of outside influence interfering with the signal, but there's no real way to test that as it could be something as out of your control as someone with a CB radio in their car driving by (I've never had such a thing interfere with my mouse, but it has happened to my sound system strangely enough), Something may also just be 'wrong' with the mouse, I've had problems with buttons dying or spamming on me in the past with my wireless equipment, so I've slowly started replacing stuff with more wired things (a wired mouse is next on my shopping list when this one finally dies).

REMOVE ''Player Kill Count'' from newui
IkaikaKekai replied to thefriendlydutchman's topic in Suggestions
I'm a bit on the fence about it. Players will do what they want because 'fuck you'. There should be in no way any permeant record of KD regarding players, and no achievements tied to player kills either (whenever they do add in achievements). It should be tied to the current life you're playing, but even then, 'ProGamers' will just screen shot that shit and brag, that will never change, there's nothing devs can do to discourage it, they can simply just not encourage it. -
Zombie / infected characteristics and cpabilities
IkaikaKekai replied to Xbow's topic in General Discussion
1) Makes sense 2) Players are immune to THE infection, however we will probably have a chance of getting other infections/diseases from zombies in the future. 3) They're probably gonna tweak them when they start actually working more on zombies. 4) See 3. 5) Makes little to no sense. Lethal is lethal. If I double barrel their forehead at close range they should drop (well their heads should explode, but engine limitations/self censoring). 6) I hope they do this, and will expand with my own thoughts after critique. 7) Yes, and more than likely going to happen sooner or later. Needs/Behavior: Zombies should have to seek out water and food, something like a very simplified system of what we have for players. IE zombies will have to seek out a water source every hour, and a source of food every 3, when they get cold they'll seek out warmth, maybe they'll try to head indoors or for shelter when it's raining/ect. The devs mentioned life cycles or life spans for zombies a while ago, needs should affect these. IE a zombie that doesn't eat something (a corpse, a player, a dead animal, plants from a garden) or drink water after a certain time will grow more weaker and eventually die. Now a source of food/water should be a bit looser for zombies than for players (IE a rain barrel or a toilet), and they carry the chance to infect a food/water source if an infected zombie uses it. IE if a zombie with Typhoid splashes about in a lake as it tries to drink water it might infect the lake with typhoid. Or say that same zombie stumbles upon a player's farm/garden while they're not around, eating their veggies and wreaking up the place. Another thing I'd like to see make a comeback is zombies seeking out sources of light at night. I remember from the mob one night I found a silenced bizon, got up on a factory roof just outside electro, threw a flare into an empty field, and waited as I practiced my night shooting. Zombies kept coming for the flare at a slow shamble. -
Doubt the map's gonna get much bigger, if at all. They're more likely to do another map, but even that's a slim chance.

Where is luncher for install days on arma 3?
IkaikaKekai replied to roby7979's topic in New Player Discussion
DayZ mod is for Arma 2, not 3. I think there was a dayz clone mod done for Arma 3, but that was a separate project and no affiliation with DayZ Mod. I can't remember the Arma3 Dayz-like mod's name or where you get it from. -
This game don't need no jumpscares or cheep tricks... It's scary enough when you're looting a building and hear footsteps or some other sound related to human activity.

I'm getting tired of repeating myself...

It takes more than just modelers to add in guns, otherwise we would have the K98, M1 Garand, and several other weapons that have been shown but not added. As you said, it's easier to make a model of a new gun than it is to make the new renderer, and I'm sure most of these guys are doing their own projects in their 'free' time, and we'll have a large catalogue of weapons to choose from once the VERY important gameplay stuff is 'done' and they start focusing on content. I'm sure the M16Awhatever will be added in at some point in the future, but I would not hold my breath as that future is not anytime soon.
-
My point still stands. As of right now we have the M4, other than barrel length and lighter parts the M4 is not much different than the M16, and its unlikely that the AR15 would be making the rounds in civilian hands in Chenarus. At this stage it would be something of a waste of time to add in basically 2 more copies of the same gun. If I remember right, they had 3 guns, the Mosin, the SKS, and the M4 at launch. It wasn't because they just picked 3 guns at random, they encompassed 3 different types of weapons, a bolt-action/sniper rifle, a semiautomatic, and an automatic, with the two types of magazines, detachable, and internal. Same with the pistols they added, semi auto and revolver, so on with the shotguns. This allowed them to test things, which would be harder if they just added 3 slight variations of the same gun, with the same attachments, same caliber, ect. When we get into beta expect to see more of the 'same' kind of rifles. This is partly my point, adding the AR15 and M16 would be the equilvent of adding the Type 56 (Chinese AK), AKM, AK47, Saiga Rifle (Civilian AK).

The US probably was minding their own business, since the zombie apoc was global, not just in Chenarus. Lore is still a bit tricky to pin down, we don't know exactly where it started or how it progressed, just that it's completely engulfed the world. The NATO/US forces in Chenarus were probably already stationed there after the events of Arma2 and probably tried to help with containment, thinking it was insurgents or rioters. When shit 'got real' their home countries may have tried to recall said forces to help deal with the outbreak on their own soil. That would of course take a while under ideal conditions, and would probably be impossible during the outbreak. There probably would be M16s 'laying around', but at the moment at least, it wouldn't be worth adding in to the game (yet).
-
IMO, there's not enough of a difference between the M16/AR15 and the M4 already in game to warrant adding one, let alone both.
-
Well, if you don't like it, you can always request a refund from Steam.
-
Peeing and pooping has been talked to death, and I still can't figure out if they were serious or joking about adding it in at some point. Sleep I don't think could be put in as a mechanic for DayZ in a satisfactory way. Think of it this way, if you're logged out, you're sleeping.

The Devs will NEVER add NPCs to the game that aren't zombies or animals. And I don't want them to either. The NPCs on the Arma Engines are both incredibly dumb and at the same time crack shots, I mean 4 out of the 6 AK rounds fired at you from 500m hit and kill you before it resumes it's zig zag pattern going through the woods. Modders will eventually put in all sorts of NPCs and AI for their various mods/servers, wait for that.

How can I play DayZ offline / without internet?
IkaikaKekai replied to CDIA's topic in General Discussion
Don't think that would be a problem since he won't be able to play online anyway. But yeah, no real (legal) options for playing DayZ offline right now. -
The three points I made were: THE DEVS AREN'T MAKING ANOHER MAP FOR RELEASE! When you read between the lines, MODDERS WILL MAKE MAPS! there's one thing you should be sure of, PEOPLE WILL BITCH NO MATER WHAT! and that is: Make sure there is something actually there.
-
Or it could mean that they're not going to make another map, and modders will happily fill that role. The Devs simply can't win. Universe A: 'Oh hey we made a secret map for you folks to enjoy.' 'Why didn't you lazy assholes put your time to better use by fixing bugs?' Universe B: 'We fixed all the bugs and DayZ is so optimized that you can play it on a phone at 60 fps.' 'Why didn't you make a new map?'

I can't even begin to dig around like I used to with the new set up. The numbers I stated may not be 100% accurate but they're close. And what little lore tidbids they give us do get buried in forum posts like these rather than put into the status reports. Supposedly Rocket's brother (whos a virologist) has drafted up a paper describing the Infection in detail, that paper has yet to be released to the general public to my knowledge.
-
We're at most a year out from 'Day Zero' but it's probably closer to weeks. The 'lore' (what little of it) has been put out there, 100% of those that can be infected have been, which is something around 98% of the global population. Of that 98% something like 60% of the infected simply died from it, the remaining 40 is what we're dealing with. The 2% is who we play as. There's no government official sitting in a bunker sending out choppers and spec ops teams looking for a cure or other survivors. The only flying choppers you're going to encounter is one that a survivor found, fixed up, and managed to learn how to fly without crashing horribly. TL;DR: The only choppers you're gonna see crashing are the ones flown by players who either DC or get shot down.
-
1) They've said before they're not going to have dynamic heli crashes. 2) Considering most of these things were made in the 60s that's as fresh as they're going to get. Not gonna find much supplies in a Havoc verses a Hip. 3) Pay attention to shit. They're already planed. Think most of the art is done from the little bird already.

To my knowledge they only do wipes now with major updates or when they kill a duping bug and want to get rid of duped items.
