The Alpha Test download is the Mod. Dunno why/when the button changed but it's been like that for a bit now and has casued a bit of confusion. The Mod is currently in it's own Alpha. So you've got the same thing. Standalone is still in PRE-Alpha so there's no way you or me are playing it. There's only a few testers outside of the Dev Team who have access to Standalone.

Because it was in the script and they didn't want a battle damaged Tyrant with a Gimped up face walking around. Few holes in a shirt/jacket? No problem. .50 BMG to the face? Uh, we gotta make a whole new face mask for that and we're kinda behind on the budget as is... Besides a shot to the head might actually KILL a Tyrant and we can't have our main bad guy dying before he's suppose to.

infection gives players infected like attributes

Another one of these? Orlok you really need to make a PLAYERS ARE IMMUNE SW credit crawl for us to use not just a THERE IS NO RELEASE DATE crawl. Players are Immune to the zombie virus. The infection we get is some other disease, the reason why it's called an infection is because at least in the mod they haven't added multiple types of infections yet (next patch I think). Otherwise the zombie outbreak would have been easily stopped in modernized world because all you would have needed to do was take some antibiotics, which is probably what the doctors would have done to anyone coming in infected with the virus just as standard procedure. -
Are you asking how as in "I would like detailed instructions." or the moral 'how can you live with yourself'? For the 2nd I'd guess it's to the point where people get bored of just shooting people for their gear and want to make a challenge of it. One of the reasons I try to keep a grenade on me whenever I find one. Cooperate, drop your gun, go with them, wait for the vehicle/helicopter, throw the pin, drop the grenade.

Dunno about a bb gun but a pellet gun might do in a snap. After all a .22LR will have the same end result of a .50 BMG to the head. Sure the .50's a lot more fun and messy, but the end result is the same.

But still, two camps that are known by everyone, they would be camped the hell out of them or not used at all. Why have them? Right now people can set up their own camps anywhere they want. And this game isn't sorted into teams, I've seen Heroes kill other players (usually after being provoked) and bandits kill everyone but their buddies, which included both heroes and survivors. This isn't a team game like Arma, for better or worse it's every one for themselves. -
Yes, there's a mod for Dayz that has exactly that, It's called Arma2

Would be nice if rather than skoda_blue it would just be Skoda and the color/texture would be randomized at spawn, could be a shiny white skoda that Grandpa Alexi took good care of ever since he was issued it for his service in the Great War, or Cousin's Adam's car that's 7 different colors and has a rag for a gascap. -

What would be the point? Heroes go where they're needed and Bandits usually shoot anyone not directly on their team, including other bandits. -
AA12 no, Flamethrower.....maybe. There's already other topics dedicated to weapons suggestions. I would personally like to see them shy away from 'advanced' military weapons that would in all likelyhood never even pass through a post soviet country like Chenarus, much less just be sitting in a firestation or barracks. I'd like to see more civilian weapons than anything else. I don't mind seeing someone carrying an M4 loaded to the gills with Taticool stuff, but when everyone's packing an M4A1F91 Model J Prototype, I have a problem.

No. Just...no. The thing that all other zombie games do is make some kind of super zombie. These zombies are just rabid human beings. A shot to the heart will kill them just the same as a shot to the head (maybe slightly slower). The zombie virus isn't going to make a fat guy into some kind of super zombie that pukes stomach acid powerful enough to melt the armor on a tank or anything like that. It isn't going to make one that can shoot spikes out of it's arms or use it's tongue like a frog to ensnare hapless survivors. Fix their AI, yeah, but otherwise leave them alone.

SA suggestion - lean to and idea for 4 seasons

Even if they just added in weather effects, IE make it cold in 'winter', overly hot in 'summer' ect, they would have to make new maps. They can't just sub in weather patterns for the whole map without some problems, otherwise we'd randomly have snowstorms and drought right after another. -

Well if they did a 'New York' like map they could have it in. New York has a tramway that goes across the river (was recreated in GTA4, stumbled upon it once without knowing what it was). There's also one or two in Columbia somewhere in one of the cities. Think London also has one that's more like a chair lift. The ones in an urban setting would probably be harder to get back up and running since they would be connected to the power grid, but still cool. -
That would probably be 'better' on the engine at least. Be kinda weird to see how its done but trees would have item piles near them, but their tables would only be say natural food items, trash, or branches/kindling.

There's workarounds, and a small generator could power a tramway with minimal/no infrastructure. However that's still something you'd have to fix (if its broken) and fuel. But it'd be no different than repairing an engine. Don't think there's actually (m)any that have their own power source on board (unless it's human powered) and unlike say the San Fran cable cars where the cable keeps moving and the cars just grab onto and let go of the cable at the Conductor's discretion, its pretty much permanently tethered to the propulsion cable (think the emergency brake really just puts the brakes on the track cables in case the propulsion cable snaps/loses power so you don't go crashing back into the station at the bottom of the hill. -

saw one that looked simular for around $60-80 on cheaper than dirt. (http://www.cheaperthandirt.net/product/MOLLE-125?utm_source=GoogleShopping&utm_medium=organic&gclid=CJK-tOfWzrcCFUJlMgodW14AVw) Though honestly I could probably just go down to my local surplus shop and buy an Alice pack (something I meant to do but they just kinda had a bunch of them in a bin, some of them had the frame, some of them were missing buckles, ect and I didn't know enough to make a complete one. Kind of a shit operation but still) -
They're gonna work on more maps, but probably not until after 'retail' release. There's also the possibility of rights issues (isn't Namalsk a fan made map?). More maps will be coming, but they'll take time.

Pretty sure wood gathering's gonna be pretty much the same as it is in the mod. Would love to see when they add in base building (weather it's above ground or instanced bellow ground) if we would have to scavenge plywood or logs from lumbermills or camps. Think it'd also be nice to simply forage firewood and kindling off the ground. Don't think the DayZ engine is dynamic enough for the 'branches fall off' mechanic.

Not sure if Chenarus has high/steep enough mountains for cable cars to be warranted. Still a pretty good idea for another map though. Could see more than a few possibilities with these, would be lovely against a horde or as a sniper's nest. You and 3 buddies go up into the mountains on that thing, put the breaks on, go to town on the horde or as an ultimate 'fuck you' to people who manage to counter snipe you and cant get your gear. -

Thinking about doing my own version of the DayZ survivor for Halloween this year. Ordered an OD twill jacket from KingSize and probably just gonna use my workboots and jeans with it along with my UH baseball cap and carry around my Airsoft Tommygun. If I could afford the other clothes and a pack I'd by a coyote pack to go with it (actually I should probably check to see what the price was on that) -

Been suggested before but still a good idea, probably not as much detail you put in about other survival hazards. From my understanding they would have to make a new map for each season with all the relevant textures, minor (and major) modifications and all that to change for each season. One thing I would add is make the seasons real time (at least on main hive servers). IE winter is actually 3 months long, not some Harvest Moon thing where each month/week the map changes seasons.
