That's...actually a very good suggestion. I mean after all with degradation we'll have to be careful where we shoot. Our standard headshot might damage that NVG we were killing for. Spray and pray will turn that warm jacket we needed into bandages. I think we will take some item damage from zombies just in the course of their normal attacks, but them beating on/eating the corpse would degrade a lot of things. Sure you might still get something off of your corpse but it'd be a crap shoot.

We do have a few factories in there now, I would imagine there would only be more. There should be more loot in factories (say 10 tires on a conveyor belt every restart, a bin of scrap metal, ect). I'm a bit conflicted about 'restarting' factories, I do think they should be in at some point but they should be 'endgame' and complicated/difficult. IE restart one of the generators at the Electro power plant, have one group hold off zombies and bandits there, repair a substation between there and solnicihy, cut off power to the towns between the power plant and the factory, isolate the machinery you need, hold off bandits and zombies at both ends. Can't really just take a Honda generator into a factory and start pumping out tires or various car parts. Where are you getting with the steel from? What about the Rubber? Assuming you found a tanker truck and a factory that had it's own back up generators in the basement, now what? It's very rare for a factory to be fully automated.

Kind of a random post. Honestly who would be giving missions? Rocket wants things to be player driven. They can be player created Events I think set up by clans or groups. Announce it on one of thosue webradio shows, '(Random Hero Clan) ((sorry if that's really your clan)) Is offering medical treatment, food, and warm clothing in exchange for vehicle parts and building supplies, report to the camp outside of Berezino hospital on US156204134791340randomness184127.'

I believe it was said that it would have to be instanced. Goes without saying but the Engine would not support 'minecraft' style building. My speculation is that there would be a few 'hub points' set up around the map where a player with the right tools and materials could build a base entrance, then from there build the different rooms required, everything would be 'underground' to prevent the map from being cluttered up with half finished/abandoned buildings. The other way I could think of them doing it is having it set up like how tents/stashes are. You plop down a 'tunnel entrance' and through both animations (time) and building materials (resources) you build a spider hole, which would act as the entrance. From there there wouldn't be anything visible other than the entrance/spider hole.

I think everything except Anxiety has been confirmed for the standalone, and Anxiety has been confirmed as something Rocket DOESN'T want in Standalone.

Id have to say you'd need to be a total virgin to get that Fresh Off the Beach feeling. Standalone won't recapture that, not completely anyway. It would be more like playing without patch notes, 'What the hell is this bible for?' You'll still have an idea of what you need, where you need to go, and what you have to do. If anything it'll be like your 10th time playing, 'okay I need to find an ax, oh sweet, found a kitchen knife!' -
The SA will have different blood types, (think the mod was working on it too). Dog and cat food (or any canned food where the seal is intact) is safe for human consumption. Probably the only thing separating the meaty chunks you feed your dog from what you eat is that they use the CHEAPEST cuts of meat (or the same if you constantly eat Taco Bell). The canning process itself boils/heats the meat and sanitizes both the can and food and cooks it in the process. If you could get an infection from eating dog/cat food, our pets would constantly be getting sick.

Actually I'd say that would affect it more than COD or BF since the studio is in the Czech republic. Even if it was 'Rocket was 5 minuets late today because it was raining'

I'd go with Commander. There's still vanilla servers out there (mostly the public hives and a couple private hives). I've not played any of the submods but Epoch seams to be the most popular currently. -
Now if certain wildlife was (more) aggressive as well (so far that would only be Boars) or would at least try to defend themselves against zombies or even players that got too close that would be awesome. And as cruel as it sounds, leaving the pigs alive was more 'tempting' for the zombies. It still kinda sucks that they made the pigs unable to run/limp away (thereby leading the zombies even further away).

One thing I didn't understand about Rick in that Scene. Now I can understand using them as a distraction (and fully support the idea), but breaking/cutting their legs? Tie some tin cans to the little bastards, maybe break one leg so they don't go too fast, and let them run around and pull the zombies further away from the fence.

Should there not be any gasoline available, please pull the pin on the grenade I keep in my left pocket in case of Bandits or Kidnappers and run.

I think they're going for simplicity right now. Thought it would be nice if later on for the character creator we get to choose a font as our handwriting (I think I know a few people who would chose Comic Sans on this forum) Off-topic/Hypetrain: Been a lot of spammer attacks lately. @Grabarz I would say at this point it would be useless to try and contact anyone working the Dev team right now as a 'random' person, regardless of trying to help. Just thinking of Dean/Matt, Imagine how much PMs Tweets ect ect they get EVERY Second asking 'y u no release stablone' 'can u unban me' and any other bullshit. I saw about 10 seconds of chat on the twitch stream before I turned it off.

Explain heroes and bandits to me.

It was a limited mechanic. The system can't really detect self defense kills. The Hero/Bandit skin was an attempt to help identify thous players who actually want to help form the kill you and wear your face crowd. Sadly it was exploited (bandits would blood bag each other to get the hero skin, and some legit friendly/hero players got bandit skins from defending themselves). If you kill a survivor (standard skin) or hero you lose humanity, if you kill a bandit or perform medical actions on someone (blood bagging, bandaging, giving morphine/painkillers/EPen/antibiotics) gives you humanity. It won't be in the standalone, just be glad about that. -
Would have to agree, not many people would take up the mantle of weather man post Z day, not to mention most of the equipment not being online. Though if the radio network is set up correctly and weather behaves almost like it's real life (as in it moves) then survivors could radio in to the friendly stations that are playing music and what not and say 'Oh, bad storm in Berezino heading south west.' From what I was told, for seasons they would need to basically make a copy of the map for each season (winter, fall, spring, summer, though some argue that spring and summer can use the same map). Retexture the ground and buildings, replace the trees and their leaves with fall and snowy versions, change the zombie textures slightly (don't know about behavior, but make their 'clothes' look more winterized, snow/mud on their shoes and shoulders, frost, ect). I would like seasons in at one point (I would love if they were 'Real Time' (and I don't mean a real time transition, more of a it's winter in game when it's winter in real life) rather than a spring one week, summer one week, ect.

As far as I know, none of the addons should interfere with playing the mod (BAF and PMC actually should boost some of the textures). I don't really know how to help you but the others who can will probably ask 'what are you using to launch' (steam, play with six, dayzcommander) and some other questions, so you might want to add that info in to save a post.

how did people get SA invites for pre-alpha?

I tried to rob someone who was given an invite using a crossbow, but it was no good because there was blood all over it. -
A DDOS and now a bunch of trolls showing up (not necessarily in this topic). I have a felling the graveyard's gonna have a lot of freshly turned earth before the night's over.
