There's a bunch of villages and towns as well as a city up north that have been added from the old map. I would assume they've been turned off for now for testing reasons as well as to finalize the actual placements and such.

Suggestions for the defibrillator
IkaikaKekai replied to Heeeere's johnny!'s topic in General Discussion
Dead is dead. A defib really just tries to jump start a heart to get it beating again, really only useful for cardiac arrest (meaning the heart stops beating for whatever reason). A hole in your lung/heart/head can't be cured by a bit of electricity. There's a reason why Medics in real life don't just go around with Defibs reviving dead people. It should be able to shock people that are dying or unconscious back to consciousness. -

Server restarts permanent part of the game ?
IkaikaKekai replied to badman85@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
Restarts will be required, but hopefully after they fix respawns it'll be say every 12-24 hours (or even longer) instead of the roughly 4 hours it is now. -
Vehicles: Should take damage. Like Items in clothing/backpack
IkaikaKekai replied to CombinedAxe's topic in General Discussion
This is sort of how the mod is right now, they'll more than likely have something similar. AFAIK Rocket wants it so that we can remove/add parts to vehicles, IE you might find a Skoda on the side of the road, you already have a working one but it's driver's door is in better condition than yours. So you remove that door and replace the one on yours and drive off. -
How do I create my own server?
IkaikaKekai replied to red.jacob.bryan's topic in Server Advertisement
Pay about $200-300 a month to rent a server. Right now the server files are under lockdown by BI, so you can't just run a server from your own box (at least not for now) -
There's something simular in real life called the Nazca Lines (Google it) which form different animals and figures, some of them human-ish.

Right now loot tables are up in the air and subject to change, about half of the buildings that did have loot in them at the very start do not anymore (a lot of the sheds and a few of the houses). As server stability increases they will increase the loot and zombies that spawn (as well as player caps). Going by the mod we can split buildings up into 4 types, Residential, Military, Industrial, Farm/Hunting. There is also some confusion as to what exactly a building is, for example the so called 'School' in Electro, everyone calls it a school, even though if you were to look closely you would see very little evidence that it's anything more than an office building. Generally speaking the larger the building is the 'higher' its yield will be. But honestly in my mind 'yield' makes no difference. In the mod you were just as likely to find a map in an outhouse (low yield) as you were in a grocery store (high yield).

DAMN YOU ADHD! Compelling me to poke holes. Although that could still be construed as 'the mark of a true soldier'

I'd say a hopper more than likely, if I was duping I wouldn't be duping ammo I don't need (7.62 in this case). He could just be a lucky bastard as well.

Agressive wildlife [Official wildlife topic]
IkaikaKekai replied to lowkey's topic in General Discussion
I think the main point against 'aggressive' animals was that they would be difficult to animate for combat and such. The other thing would be getting the animations to sync up, as opposed to zombies who can move and attack at the same time (or much easier to do with humans anyway). I think bears might be in the works or at least on the table. But more in the way to see if they'll work properly. -
I found a copy of Call of Cthulhu before the character wipes, I'm still looking for one since I never even got the chance to crack it open.

Your body does not transfer servers with you, so you can't respawn then jump on another server to get your gear back. I have not been able to hide player bodies myself (I haven't tried recently), which is what someone might have done after grabbing what they could use from you. There's also the possibility that the server restarted before you got back to your body. Rules 1-12 of DayZ club, never get attached to your gear. Filthy Server hopper...

Was about to come in here screaming now, thinking you meant achievements or something similar. It's a bit morbid but other than possible censorship in some countries I see nothing 'wrong' with it or a similar feature. I would like to see this work 'both ways' so to speak, something for 'Heroes' to get as well (can't think of anything meaningful/not silly, like a scarf made out of bandage casings or something). 'Ears' would be something that have to be harvested however, and possibly crafted into a necklace, downside would be other players being able to see your flesh jewelry and the ones on the ball will know 'oh shit, this guy's gonna kill me'. This wouldn't be a surefire thing either, a Hero might collect the ears of bandits they've killed, or someone might just collect ears off the dead bodies he sees. Or a brutal murderer might not collect the ears or any trophy so he doesn't look like a psychopath.

What happens if you go off the edge of the map?
IkaikaKekai replied to marsmars's topic in General Discussion
They say if you reach the end WarZ actually turns into a good game. No one's ever been able to reach the end however, not even hackers. -
A while ago someone linked to a game/tech test called Spin Tires, and it had this HUGE truck in it that was for offroad logging called the MAZ. I want that thing. I want to DESTROY the forests with that thing. I want people to see a 10' wide gap in the forest with felled trees and be like 'wtf?' and follow it, and find my camp right next to my MAZ way up in the north.

An alternative idea for the AK
IkaikaKekai replied to the_annoying_fin's topic in General Discussion
Sooo, its basically just an AK made in Finland? National Pride is cool and all but I see no difference between the RK and AK, at least not enough of one to warrant it being the 'replacement' for the AKM/47 or the 74. Chenarus is based loosely on the Czech Republic, if anything they would use any Czech AK variants if they weren't going to go with the generic Russian AKs. -
Zombie powerup (Dead players etc)
IkaikaKekai replied to Firstbornchicken's topic in General Discussion
Rocket talked about this once, said they'ed have to get fat mocap actors and a new 'skeleton' for the different sizes, to which i volunteer. -
I think there should be a lot of FIXABLE vehicles on the map. But it should be variable to how much work is needed to fix each vehicle. IE say 10 vehicles on the map only need say a new windshield and a new tire, where as the worse off (the majority) would need just about every part repaired. I think the fixable vehicles should be the primary source of parts to fix other vehicles (rocket said something a while ago about how he wanted it to be something like 'that door on my UAZ is blue because I took it off of a ruined Cherno PD UAZ, or something like that) As for the 'type', civilian vehicles should be the majority (ranging from Uncle Sergei's old tractor to shiny new Cherno PD cruisers and Firetrucks), with a few 'soft' military vehicles (jeeps, trucks, ect) with a very small amount of light armor vehicles (not full on APCs, just say a HUMVEE with an armor kit on)

Sometimes my character doesn't save and I come back as a freshspawn!
IkaikaKekai replied to treirk's topic in General Discussion
I'd say just don't get attached to your gear/progress. Constant resetting sounds like a bug, so you might want to report that or upvote an existing report, but there will be wipes in the future as they do new patches. -
Zombie powerup (Dead players etc)
IkaikaKekai replied to Firstbornchicken's topic in General Discussion
That actually sounds like a good idea, might fit in with the 'life cycle' thing Rocket was talking about a while ago. Hungry zombies would be easier to kill but might agro easier (being hungry they'll be 'on the hunt' so to speak). A 'well fed' zombie would be harder to kill but would be more 'relaxed' (won't actively seek out players/prey but would still attack players they see). This could have 'bad' connotations too, IE shooting someone in a city to lure zombies away from a location with their body. But such is DayZ, people will kill with or without a reason. -
Screw the rifle, I want that bipod. As for in game, I dunno, this seams like one of thous 'hey it's cool, but they only made 10' kind of things.

The kitchen knife can also be used to open cans (loss of food), Bayonets are suppose to as well (the one time I had one it did not work, may have been glitched)
