I don't think the lockpick/key only thing is a good idea. It makes things a bit too secure, which shouldn't be a thing. There should always be the fear that you can lose everything, it shouldn't be like Epoch where you can place your own personal concrete bunker down wherever you want and have a unhackable biometric lock. Think about it, with a lockpick someone can lock down just about every building in Cherno or Electro and no one can loot. Not to say that breaking into someone's base should be as easy as putting a round in the doorknob or smacking it once with a sledgehammer. Depending on the door and maybe a couple other factors it should take a few shots to break the lock and a few heavy hits with a sledge to break it down. Barricading doors, boarding them up, or reinforcing them should add on to this. Maybe even being able to say, take a steel door from a military base and putting it onto the cabin or building you're using for a base. One thing I think is that when we 'take over' a building it should no longer spawn items inside (but anything that's inside will stay till it's 'reclaimed'), that way you can't just barricade and make a barracks into a base and keep looting weapons and ammo, but, say I take over a cabin in the middle of no where, stop playing for a week (or however long persistence will be) then my lock, barricades, stored items, ect will disappear. I also think that when they get persistence to actually be persistent they should make cupboards and other 'world containers' last for say 2-3 days when items are placed into them and the building isn't claimed, that way I could stash some loot in a house in the city and maybe come back later to get it without having to worry about a restart wiping it.

You can more or less do that already. I mean you can't board up windows yet, but you can lock doors and put your barrels in houses as well as use containers in the house as storage (I never tested to see if that type of storage was persistent or not)

Minimizing in-game telepathy for more immersive game experience!
IkaikaKekai replied to exwoll's topic in Suggestions
This sounds like a bad idea, I mean hand signals and whispers are good, but an always open mic isn't. TeamSpeak/Skype will NEVER go away, stop trying. They can't legally put something in the code to block a program. And that thing about banning players without a mic is very unfair. What about people who simply don't have mics or don't want them? And this always open mic thing is another problem of privacy and immersion. Maybe I don't want zombies chasing after me because my 10 dogs in real life are going off on the old ladies walking to the bus stop. Maybe I don't want a group of bandits to know I'm there because my AC decided to kick into high gear. Maybe I don't want the bandits I've been captured by hear my door open and my dad ask 'Hey was your Social Security Number 123-45-6789 or 123-45-6790?' Maybe I don't want to hear the inside of someone's nostril while shitty music and kids are screaming in the background. -
"GOOOOOOOD MORNING CHENARUS! DJ Big Mike coming at ya LIVE and Uninfected from my secret hidey hole. Don't have a radio? Think you can drown out my lovely voice? TOO BAD! I've got the whole city wired up and you're not gonna be able to shoot out all my speakers like last time! I know who you are and I'm gonna sick Ivan on ya! Isn't that right Ivan?" *Sounds of a zombie snarling and chains rattling.* "Ivan agrees with me and he's hungry as hell, and not just for flesh! We've got the latest songs found off an old Ipod and up next is Leningrad with Super Good. Radio in your requests, death threats, and poor attempts to lure me out of my Hidey Hole. Just don't call in for any medical advice, that's frequency 107.5, I'm 105.7." *Russian Ska music starts playing.

Kindling/fires with paper money Write note on paper money Makeshift bandage with paper money Stuff paper money into coats for insulation (along with regular paper) Use coins as a distraction for zombies (thrown) coins used as a weapon (loaded into shotshells, fill a sock with coins, hammer coins into a baseball bat/2x4) using coins(or paper money) to quietly get items out of a still functioning vending machine (as opposed to just breaking the glass/cover) melting down coins for metal for various crafting items (copper most easily comes to mind) Allowing players to actually make a trade system if they decide to do so Some of these are unlikely to be implemented, but you keep bitching at the OP for not giving other examples, that he wants an economy FORCED on players. That's not gonna happen, players will make whatever economy they want; one Trader group might take money, another might take bullets, another might take sticks and bits of colored string.

Fixed it for you.

They've been 'lootable' for a while now, they just don't have any loot on them yet.

Status Report - 19 July 2016

Que 20 'suggestion' posts asking for wolves to be added in. -
Or the Trumpet, whatever I can get my hands on, only mentioned the 10/22 because I actually have one. And we're playing in an Eastern European Former Soviet Country, the only reason NATO weapons are spawning in regular military bases is because Helicrashes are buggered and Lore wise because there was a War/'Intervention'. Last I checked most NATO aircrews and spec ops didn't carry Plinker SMGs, and I kinda doubt a Soviet Republic would buy an expensive, low power weapon made by their enemy at the time, or buy custom made Semiauto only versions made in Oregon one at a time from a former enemy after the fall of the Wall. I know .22 and ammo in general is abundant right now, but even if they did add this thing in on a lark It would probably be avoided by most people once ammo becomes precious, especially since this thing can blow through half a box of ammo in just over a second of firing.
-
You can look for that thing, I'll stick with a 10/22 and a bush/darkened window.
-
They're probably just really rare right now, or like others have said, taken out. Other than opening cans they served no purpose at the moment. I would assume they'll get added back in when using firearms as melee weapons becomes a thing (If that's still planed).

Current estimate is 2016/early 2017 for Beta, full release maybe the end of 2017 early 2018 assuming nothing 'bad' happens and things go smoothly.

Firetrucks could be used to convey water around from lakes to camps, even if they're thinking about adding 'tanker' mods to trucks. Attach hose to truck, drop other end in river, flip switch, wait, shoot zombies attracted to the pump noise, wait, use the firehose to blast more zombies attracted by the gun shots, wait more, full! Trade water for food, wonder if you told them they needed to boil it or not, get shot by angry sick players.

Add Workshop Support/Ablity to have Modded Servers
IkaikaKekai replied to xxmrburnsxx's topic in Suggestions
You must be new here. Modding and workshop is already planed for down the road, there is no ETA but it's estimated to be one of the last hurdles before they declare Beta. While I have you, something you said, What is your reasoning for this? Assuming some modder makes a wonderful mod that's optimized to hell, allows 4k graphics to run off of a potato, and increases all users Penis and Breast size by one. What's BI suppose to do, give them a DayZ Tshirt, a pat on the back and 'thanks'? -
We're a ways away from beta, if that's what you're asking. Best hope is by the end of the year but it depends on the Devs progress.
-
Meh, dunno if BudK delivers to Chenarus or not, but think we should shy away from Taticool Machetes. Maybe when beta hits and they add in like 3 different types of woodaxes or something.

What Direction they should take now?
IkaikaKekai replied to FanaticModz520's topic in General Discussion
Not much of a poll. It's like 'A) I like Coffee Icecream. or B) I hate Coffee Icecream and like kicking puppies.' -
There is going to be a 'local' or solo mode as you put it. As for when, I think it will be around the time Modding is supported, as modders will need a way to test their mods. No word on when exactly that will be however, but if I remember right it's one of the last checkpoints before they hit Beta.
-
Right now, you can't. Server files are not available yet and no 'release date' has been issued. If you see 'server files' out and around the internet for DayZ, avoid them as they're either cracked or fake, and will most likely result in a global ban.

Nilhi novi sub sole. This 'new' idea has been in the works for a while, barricading is a planed feature and to a limited extent you can already do it with lockpicks, as well as using cabinets and the like as storage. *EDIT* I do like the idea bout being able to 'clean up' a house you take over, I hope we're able to do that and even add things into the houses/buildings we take over, IE repair the lights, install a generator, hook gas up to the stove to cook, ect.
-
Because restarting a server will usually get rid of some bugs that can stack up over time. The old adage 'did you turn it off and on again?' does work quite often.

Players can't catch the zombie virus, however there is a great chance that the zombies were infected with other things as well, so I'd say a greater chance of getting some kind of disease as well as maybe a 'I feel dirty' type of hygiene status. Could be used as a trap, leave some nice warm clothes you peeled off a zombie in a low spawn area.
-
If I remember right there was some issue with heli crashes not spawning gear properly so for now at least heli gear will spawn in various military locations.

Played .60 now I have many questions
IkaikaKekai replied to NewPlayer80's topic in New Player Discussion
1. No you can't. 4. I'd say that's a bug, report it. 5. No, you can't sell your copy of the game, you can try getting a refund from steam. The fact that you're willing to sell your entire account is mildly suspicious... You do know the game will probably be closer to $60 when it's finished right? If you're not happy with the current state of the game, do like others have done, uninstall and take a break, find something else to play/do and come back later.
