NPCs will never happen. 'End Game' PVE stuff will probably focus around things like repairing the power plant or building a base/bunker, and even then it won't be fully PVE.

My friend got hacked, and you can't do anything else?
IkaikaKekai replied to Tonyx97's topic in Troubleshooting
Because we are not the people who banned him. And by we I mean the forum mods, or even the DayZ Devs in this case. I'm just a guy that works at a pizza place in Hawaii. As he was probably told, take it up with battle eye. -
Patchnotes 37.18249161089400 Changed: Removed Sesame seeds from Hotdog MK2 for Balance issues. Added: TWS exclusively for Hotdog MK2

I don't normally shoot on sight...but that would make me unload a clip into your head.

im a noob from the standalone and have a question about copters...
IkaikaKekai replied to shinya aoki's topic in New Player Discussion
You'd be better off actually finding one first Unless you plan on storing the parts in a tent. Last time I checked (which admittedly was a long time ago) the Huey needed like 6 windscreens that all need to be repaired before it could fly. The other thing is unless someone crashes their helicopter and destroyed it you probably won't find a heli at any of the spawn points on DayZDB unless it's an 'abandoned' server. -

Depending on the server you play on, IF (and thats a big if) you find a helicopter at it's spawn it will need repairs and gas (some Scrap metal, lots of windscreen glass, engine parts, main rotor assembly). All that is usually found in industrial spawns. You'll also need a lot of gas to fuel it up. A long time ago when I was still learning I found a little bird that was mostly repaired, fixed it, put in two 20L cans worth of fuel and tried to take off...I got MAYBE 3 feet off the ground before I ran out of fuel and landed hard. -
What sort of player are you on DayZ? *QUIZ*
IkaikaKekai replied to Flagella's topic in General Discussion
The one where it was something like '4 guys armed with melee and you have a FNX with two clips' It was either kill them all, kill them all stealthily, or shoot like a spaz, or try and talk to them before shooting them all. -
I've got it. The reason bandits wear military gear!
IkaikaKekai replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
And the reason why they kept screaming "YEAH BITCH! OWNED YOU! I FUCKED YOUR MOM!" and dragged their balls over my unconscious face? -

Survivor 87% Hero 49% Bandit 29% Kos'er 0%, not quite sure how I got that 29%, one of thous questions was loaded and didn't give me a choice to run away/hide. -
Not quite entirely sure how the layering works right now, because I found a puffer jacket that said it couldn't be used with a vest, I could wear it over a Tshirt I found but not over my hoodie. If we could wear a Shirt/Tshirt under all it would be nice, if anything just as an extra source of rags/warmth, not to mention the two slots from the shirt. I think when weather becomes an issue to players and not just ambiance (as in you'll have to put on a raincoat or something to not get a cold while running around in the rain) IE wearing a tshirt, hoodie, puffer jacket, motobike helmet, hiking boots, and cargo pants on a hot day may lead to heatstroke or quicker dehydration from sweating.

You know, I thought I saw footprints on certain terrain (like roads), not 100% sure though. Kind of a neat thing I've noticed is that if you crawl in grass it gets pushed down and it would form a trail you wouldn't really notice unless you were looking for it. One of my biggest fears in the mod when I was still stealthing around was that someone would find my grass tracks and kill me because I was wearing a ghillie.

The Rise (and possibly demise) of The Chernarus Revolution

That voice...all I hear is 50 DKP MINUS! My second thing is "Wait...what the fuck is going on? Hey dude I just bandaged...whats going on?" -
Would add something to this, make it so zombies can bust down/open doors too, but they'll take much longer to do so than a player using tools. I also don't think players should just be able to close the door as they're running in and buy themself time to run out the back door while the zombie bangs on the front. Players should have to lock a door to keep a zombie out, or they'll just open/shove it after a second. Never played Dead Linger (or whatever Rocket is basing the barricade system on) but should think that reinforcing doors should help as well. For guns, unless your using a shotgun at near point blank or shooting the doorknob, I don't think you'll be breaking it down like that (sure putting holes in it, but keep in mind some calibers can't even go through 3/4" plywood)

I kinda like the idea as an option, sort of like how WOW was (or probably still is, I'm no longer on Crack), you can logout now, where your body still stays in for 30 secs (Still think it should be 60), have the timed loggout, where you have to sit down (Sit, not Prone) for 30 seconds (should also be 60) but you can look around (if you do anything like get up or arm yourself you cancel the logout). When camps and bases get implemented the logout timer should be reduced by half when you log out in, near your camp/base.
-
Pretty sure it's been suggested before, but still a sweet idea. Night Vision with Binocs, add in a record function (audio and video) as well as tapes and this would be pretty sweet. For when bases and the like are implemented you can scout out an rival base or area, record your findings and return with the tape back to your group to replay it. Neat little alternative to Twitch/Fraps with a possibility to download the video footage to your hard drive for exporting.

As above, got killed shortly after you log out, or some kind of Hive error. Could also be you played on a Hardcore Server and switched to a Regular server or vise versa.
-
Even lower tech Idea along the same lines: Stuff a pot with green leaves/damp rags and a bit of oil, set it on fire and place it somewhere. Probably won't cover a larger area but may be able to do a smoke screen with it by carrying the burning pot.

[Poll] Should zombies only die if shot/axed in the head?
IkaikaKekai replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Forgot the lungs, kidneys, liver...yeah you might not die instantly but you're not going to be chasing me. -
Thing is, the FSA is fighting against an actual Army using tanks and (I think Gov Forces still have a couple jets) helicopters using what they can scavenge together. In a survival situation I'm not going to disconnect the rocket pods from a downed Apache to mount them onto my Truck to kill zombies, or even random bandits, I'm going to sit up on Mauna Lahilahi like the bandits of the Classical Era with food, water, a couple of different rifles, and some camo netting and shoot anything menacing in the heart or head, because Hell, I might need whatever the hell they were driving or holding onto to not be blown into 100 tiny pieces.

different ground textures may act as "containers" for basic materials

Handful of sand = fighting chance for a fresh spawn (disorient a zombie temporarily, or blind a player that doesn't have some sort of eye protection ((moto helmet, glasses, gas mask))) -
I don't see these being used as you intend them to be used. While it would be somewhat fun to watch two clans go at it with heavy weapons from the safety of my binocs this would really only be misused, bandit buddies blowing the shit out of fresh spawns before they can even load in. Greifers blowing up every building in a town just for the lulz. I honestly think a PKM or RKP should be the heaviest weapons available to us.

Can you treat the axes with a little more respect?
IkaikaKekai replied to jubeidok's topic in Suggestions
Maybe 'stances' that affect how you attack with the weapon, or rather how you hold it. IE Turn the Wood splitting ax around and you can knock someone out rather than put a blade in their neck Jab with the Shovel to use the blade like a spear Swing with the shovel like an ax to hit with the blade swing with the flat so you knock someone out Stabbing with knives/bayonets to do more damage but slower slash would be faster but less damage than a full on stab jab someone with a tip/point of many weapons (bat, ax heads ((the top of the ax)) ect) to push them back/do minor damage, IE keep that unarmed out of punching range so you don't have to outright kill them. Many many examples and I feel like I'm rambling at this point. -
