    I've heard the 10/22 and Mk3 are very underpowered (unjustly so) in the game, where it takes 2-3 headshots with either to kill someone.

    Roadmap updates

    Updates 'usually' release on Wednesday during weekly maintenance. But if a patch isn't up to their standards, or breaks the game in some way they'll delay it, like the last patch. However its always 'when it's ready' as opposed to 'shit we need to release in 10 mins'.

    By the fact that they pretty much appear abandoned. I could see if there was maybe a parking lot or an improved trail leading to the castle, or even a modern building on the grounds to act as a museum. And yes there's shit ton's of holes we can poke in DayZ, such as 'why am I finding military gear in a firestation?' We need to remember that it's alpher and everything is being worked on and subject to change. Hell you might get you wish and they turn Devils Castle into a museum with replica swords, armor, bardiches, ect. Till then the only 'explanation' I can think of is the zombies now there and hanging around brought that stuff (spare clohes, food, simple weapons) there to try and survive the outbreak before they succumbed to the infection.

    I was a driver for the Private Military Contractor Ikaika Industries that was suppose to help deliver relief goods to Takistan onboard the cargo ship IIS Ewa Maru. We took onboard a 'Black Team' from the company that was on a job and needed a pickup when the crew came down with a strange sickness. I was the only survivor when I saw land off in the distance. I loaded a lifeboat up with as much food and ammo as I could, capsized and swam to shore.

    Less Military Weapons

    Military zombies are suppose to be the 'slightly tougher' zombies (because of the flack jackets and helmets). The virus does not mutate people, its basically rabies (without the 'time limit'). Unless Bruce Banner just happened to be at NWAF when the outbreak happened there aren't going to be zombies that are bullet sponges. A .22 to the head (in the right spot) will kill a body builder just as easily as it would kill a non body builder.

    There won't be any special L4D style zombies in dayz. Military weapons will be reduced as time goes on and more civilian weapons are added. To be honest right now the only 'military' spec weapon is the M4 unless you count the Mosin.

    Go for the head, if they fall down keep beating them. They're only dead if they fall face up. If you can keep moving (side stepping). This will probably change when we get the 'final' zombie AI in, right now its pretty much just placeholder. Not all buildings have loot, not to mention that the doors can be opened then closed by someone who looted the place earlier.

    Well you can't really just plop down an airfield/airport, not unless you want to spend shit tons of money grading (leveling) terrain (in real life). Not to mention other considerations like clearances, prevailing winds, ect. Utes will more than likely have an airfield on it. To be honest I still think Balota would have been better off if it was truly a civil airfield rather than a military one. NW and NE are good enough IMO not to mention all the smaller military bases scattered about.

    You see, the problem is they wouldn't consider it advertising. They (Pepsi Co. Coke, Heinz, ect) would want to be PAID for use of their trademark. Thus fake brands. Not to mention the possible negative connotations that their brand in a Violent video game could bring. To use GTA as an example, Imagine if Pepsi/Coke had sponsored GTA3, and then the 'beat a hooker to death' scandal came about, they would want a recall of GTA to remove their products from the game (this was before patching on consoles was common place) not to mention all the possible legal consequences from that. It's just weird how trademarks work. Take Union Pacific for example, they are very controlling on what model trains are allowed (legally) to have their livery and other such trademarks, it has to be up to their standards. Would you want Pepsi making decisions about DayZ? "Yes Corporate wants it so that Pepsi is the only cure for the Zombie Virus and turns the dead back to life. Also we want this 'NotaCola' to be the cause of the zombie outbreak."

    Chenarus has airports already. Balota was suppose to be a civil airfield (at least in the mod), honestly I don't think there'ed be much more than a civil airfield in the sector of Chenarus we are currently in, this is a rather poor/rural country overall.

    Enforcer kinda made my point for me, if slightly ruder. The part of Chenarus we play in is a bit too small to have more than a few weather zones. Now if the north had some high mountains I could see them being the 'snow zones' but that would still be a tiny sliver of the map. This is technically not Russia, kinda like how Ukraine technically isn't Russia either (for now at least, this statement may be invalid in a few hours), it would be along the southern boarder of Russia, and of course Russia isn't always snowing (depending on where you are that is). I expect the only way we'll see snow (other than them importing the mechanics from that VB3000 or whatever it's called) would be if they made a copy of the map for each season, which is unlikely.

    Rags for stuffing/muffling, thous single strip ductape gags you see on TV are bullshit and are easy to get out of. Rag for stuffing the mouth, a rag/tape/rope to keep the stuffing in.

    From what I understand underground is not easily done with the engine. Someone made a 'mine' with the mod but really all they did was put some fake terrain above an area and lower the terrain and plop in some buildings. For the prison, they had plans for one and it was suppose to be put on Utes Island. Now I've heard conflicting things, some say they scrapped Utes altogether, others say they just scraped the idea of putting the prison on Utes since it didn't feel right, like they just shoehorned it in and that they'll put it somewhere on the mainland assuming they don't make another island just for it. As for snow, unless they expand up north further I doubt they'll have a snow area (still possible) I don't know much about snowy climates, but I would assume just adding an Everest sized Mt. Zala just for snow might be a bit...I lack the words. Seasons are another thing that's not that easy to do in the engine currently.

    Blindfold...you are one sadistic bastard. Also I see me and Irish visit the same websites. My uncle worked in what was basically a junkyard (he was a boat builder and the landowner was a family friend), one of the dogs there got ripped up by a stray dog. Pretty graphic, it's belly got ripped open, he took all the guts that had spilled out and put them back in, and used duct tape to seal em back up, worked and as far as I know the dog's still alive. (3 Guesses as to what his new name is)

    Trading Area - To reduce shoot on sight mentality

    First of all, rocket does not want NPCs or any other non animal or non zombie AI. Neither does he want artificial safe zones. He wants things to be player driven. Even if he did want both this would not reduce KOS, as mentioned above one or two snipers can effectively shut down the 'trading post'. Arma AI are 'dumb' and at the same time godlike. They walk in wide zigzag patterns or just stand around, they can see through walls yet at the same time won't move for cover, and they shoot dead on. The '-to reduce KOS' suggestions are a bit played out at this point. The only way KOS is gonna get reduced by any good amount is when the next big FPS game comes along or they get bored of DayZ. The other way is when they add in things to do other than gear up and kill/kidnap/torture people. Some kind of trade system other than 'you drop your thing and I'll drop mine and we switch spots and hopefully the shit won't be bugged' would be nice. A mousewheel option 'Give/trade to' on items. Hold a can of beans/whatever and hover over a person, the option would be 'hand to' or 'trade with' player, and you'd get a message saying 'X is trying to give you Can of Beans' or 'X wants to trade you Can of Beans' the other player equipts the item they want to trade and do the same thing, in teh case of trade it would be 'Y wants to trade Can Opener for your Can of Beans." and you would have to accept/deny the trade.

    No, no one knows, I don't think even the Devs know really when vehicles will be ready. They have said that bicycles will be the first to be implemented as they are fairly easy to do. Keep in mind they pretty much (thankfully) started from scratch for the vehicles, so that hopefully when you're giving a nice person a ride in your Land Rover and you hit a small stone wall that's hidden by the tall grass you don't get stuck and go from full health to killing the now AFK hero and nearly killing yourself. But we'll just have to WAIT and see.

    Weather

    From what I was told, the way the engine currently is, if we were to have different 'seasons' they would have to make 3-4 copies of the map and change the textures to match the season and some minor terrain modifications (snowbanks, making lakes freeze over, ect), meaning you couldn't just have it snow and it would cover the ground in snow, kinda like how it doesn't flood when it rains. This MAY change (I've heard some rumors a little while ago)

    Thanks, forgot the name of it, and I meant that was the only one with decent speed. Sounds sweet, they might be able to implement it into the DayZ engine (it's called that now since it's different enough from TOH) if they get it working. They're going to add Utes island in sooner or later, they don't have it in now because it would just use up resources and there'd be no real good way to get to it till they add in the revamped vehicles (IE boats). Not to mention the map team are probably still working on it.

    They had boats in the Mod, with the exception of the zodiac (or whatever it's Russian designation was) they were fairly useless as they were very slow (I swear that one 'pleasure craft' used a power drill as an outboard, I can SWIM faster than that in real life). With the addition of Utes they shouldn't be as useless, even as slow as they were in the mod, they'ed be less so if there was a river(s) that could be used to travel inland, but I digress. The only bad thing about the boats in the mod was that you could not simply get up and walk about them, you either drove, sat in a passenger seat, or were thrown overboard. I doubt that would change easily (but there's always hope that they alter the physics/mechanics enough so that our 'dreams' of walking around an RV/Bus that's going 60MPH down the coast road and shooting back at bandits may come true)

    Horses, the almost perfect "vehicle"

    Another one? Horses are unlikely to happen before bikes. For one, they'ed need to model a horse, then they'ed have to have it animated correctly. Not to mention program it to behave right (IE not explode if it hit's a rock going too fast, this is not a Michael Bay film) I've seen video of a horse someone modded into Arma2, it looked HORRIBLE. A horse shaped bike that flips worse than ATVs on bridges. And this isn't even dealing with all the 'realism' this would spit in the face of. I highly doubt there'd be wild horses in Chenarus, there'd probably be a few horses around in barns assuming they didn't get killed by their infected owners. IDK about you but the last time I rode a horse it was well trained horse used to strangers riding it and I had it's handlers right there to hold the reins and tell me what to do. Can't just slap on a stetson hat and toss a saddle on random horses and play out your Rick Grimes fantasies. Not against horses at all, just don't think we should say 'make horses the first 'vehicle' we add in rather than bicycles first that are almost done and fairly simple.
