Pliers + Hammer + Bullet= Slightly better than a liberator pistol. The Liberator pistols were meant to be dropped to the French, so they pocket it, sneak up behind a German, shoot him in the back at close range (I would assume they don't have a knife), and take his gun, then shoot more Germans with that gun. I thought they actually did drop them in France, but looks like others have done more research than I on the subject. The well armed already kill the unarmed in this game enough simply because 'he could punch me and knock me out'. Now 'he could have had a pistol on him' comes into play.

DAMNIT GEWS STOP STALKING ME! -
I haven't been paying attention lately, and I've heard conflicting things about Utes. The first was that they wanted to put the large prison on Utes, but they snuffed that idea because it just felt shoehorned in. Two things came form that, some say that they're not gonna add Utes at all, the second is they are gonna add Utes, it just won't have the prison (which is what I think is gonna happen). Right now Utes isn't in because it'd just take up resources and not get used. If they are going to add it in they'll add it in probably either with vehicles (boats and aircraft) or sometime there after. I don't think they'ed add in Panthera to the Chenarus map. Mostly because it's a fan made map as opposed to a BI map (at least I think it is, could be wrong). And lore wise Utes is on the Arma map South Southeast of where we play. Maybe they'll add some other things in that big empty area between Utes and the mainland (floating ships more than likely), maybe they won't.
-
I don't think we'll see ANY more airstrips other than Utes (if Utes is still being added in). I'm still a little surprised they made Balota a military airfield rather than a Civil airfield with a hastily built military camp set up across the road.

The RDS partly covers/blocks the ejection port on the gun? Woodland camo clashes with TSKO Camo? Your shoes aren't tied? I give up.

That thing's gonna be a bitch and a half to rerail.

Sometimes a Cigar is just a Cigar. Said by someone who thought everything was a symbol for a penis and that we all secretly want to shag our mothers because of it. It's an empty space, they have things like that, it's not going to be the next Fort Knox or Cherno International Airport. More than likely it's a construction yard (aka big empty lot where they store things like bulldozers and excavators) sans construction equipment or something similar.

Selling/offering 'perks' in a game as a server owner isn't 'intellectual property'. It can be considered cheap, but more than likely not illegal as long as it's not a hack (A server admin on his private server offering to have it so you spawn with a 1911, 2 clips, and a can of beans because you donated $5. Some random guy spawning in an infinite ammo box or a helicopter on any server you want is.). Now say making a mod of DayZ and charging money for it would be considered Illegal as you're actually taking someone else's intellectual property, putting a ribbon, a few bells, and price tag on it, and saying it's yours. And really, who's going to 'stop' people selling perks? It's not like Orlok can kick down people's doors, slap em around a bit for breaking rules, tell them to stop doing that, and abscond with their 'ill gotten' money to be burned in a fire...He can't right?

Pick wont show up for me. EDIT: Yes..yes I mean the Pic.

Not saying the current planned rail system is ideal. If it were up to me there'd be a few executions and heads going on pikes for incompetence and corruption. I'm pro rail, if they're doing it right (which they're not. The state couldn't pour piss out of a slipper.) It's coming, weather we like it or not, lets just pray or make sure they do it right, unless you happen to have a couple of barrels of Semtex laying about, then we could meet up somewhere in Kapolei or Waipahu to discuss business...Still the level of corruption here in the States is nothing compared to the Former Soviet Union. At least we're actually going to get a Rail System, can't say the same for that Stevie Wounder concert.

Wooden AR-15/M4 Stock & Handguard (M4 Attachment Suggestion)

Damn, screw the game I want that in real life. I might actually put AR back on my list of guns to acquire. Shit if I could afford it I'd get the stock and hand guard done in Koa (expensive as FUCK). -
It's not, we don't have any server providers located here. And we'll probably never have any till private (homebox) servers are allowed.
-
See, thing is that over there, they'd get the funding for it, then simply not build it and say 'oops'. It's called real corruption as opposed to the pansy ass shit we have here, where a City councilman's votes to have Naps and Snacks, and pays for his private diners with his public funds. This isn't Downtown or Waikiki where a subway/metro or even elevated rail would make sense (we can't have subways in Hawaii for multiple reasons, one of them being the water table). Look at NY or Chicago, old cities that are heavily developed and crowded and 'everyone' has a car, thus high traffic. Cherno is more 'Communistic' where a car is considered a luxery, and there would be few private vehicles. Even the new apartment buildings in Cherno could be more easily served by buses than a rail system (under/aboveground), due to the altitude and grade (trains gernally don't preform very well on anything higher than a 2-3% grade, meaning 2-3 feet of climb for every 100 feet of travel). For the amount of engineering and construction they'ed have to do to make a metro line from Dubky, Novo, Chapa and lower Cherno and extension to Electro to work they could just spend it on improving the roads and buying a SHIT TON of buses (or buying a few buses, draw a couple 0s on the price tag of each and pocket the difference).

Might want to have a bit more details in the first post (things like IP). I didn't even know this was for a server.

I want a broadsword. Maybe even a dress saber or something. Russian officers had that right?

Factories for crafting weapons, gear and ammo
IkaikaKekai replied to xXRangerXx's topic in Suggestions
Honestly, you're not gonna restart a factory just to pump out a couple of M4s or parts for a car. It's not cost effective (and by that I mean time cost). Factories require a great deal of power, you're not gonna just hook up a random honda generator and plug it into a Ford factory in Chenarus to make a limited amount of items. Factories are mass production, and require a lot of infrastructure to start up yet alone keep running. (Power, resources, workers, transportation, ect). The idea of actually manufacturing is something the devs should thing about, but more on a small scale. Rather than do a bunch of steps to restart the factories, you make a workshop with tools so you can do the more complex crafting. Maybe even when vehicles are added you can loot smaller machinery (drill press, belt sander, bench grinder, lathes and such, even though lathes are pretty large). Artisanship as opposed to mass production. -
If Chenarus was more densely populated and heavily urbanized (IE the entire coast was pretty much one big city) I could see a metro happening, other than that I don't think it fits. Rocket has said he wanted an underground setting (if they could make it work), but more than likely it will be tunnels under a city (either sewers or some sort of Cold War Era Soviet Bunker).

We'll the lore of it is that it's a post soviet country, so Soviet surplus SHOULD be the majority. Past that its conjecture. The country is loosely based on the Czech Republic, which has become more westernized. The reason why the M4 is there in abundance is because it was the first weapon they worked on that had the most attachments (bayonet/silencer, hand guards, bipod, flash light, scopes, magazines, stocks, all the 'mounting points' that they can work on and get working with one weapon, then copy what they did over to other weapons) and is in a way a placeholder for the AK (I would assume the 74 would replace it as the 'standard' assault weapon and make the M4 a bit rarer). Lorewise I think when the Standalone gets more weapons, AKs (AKMs/74/74u) will be the more common of the military weapons, being 'standard issue'. Some of the more western military type weapons could probably be explained as belonging to police forces or the few NATO forces that responded to the outbreak or something before the outbreak. I don't know if the events of Arma2 have taken place in the same universe as DayZ, but that would also explain a few of the NATO weapons.

Go out into the woods (If I'm not already there). Wait a few moments, make sure there's no stalkers around or zombies, then find a bush or something and log out in it. That or find a no loot building that's by itself and log out in a room that's not easily visible inside.
-
Still the last thing I would do. IF I was in a player base it would probably be to steal something and I'd like to leave as little evidence I was ever there as possible. Now a bandit base that just happens to have explosives on the other hand... And yes, Arma2 does have destructible buildings (think they have 'prebuilt' destruction models, so no 'smart' destruction like in Battlefield (IE put a tank round through a wall and that wall goes down rather than the whole building) ). The new/redone buildings may or may not have a 'destruction' model as they would be new from Arma2.
-
Buildings were somewhat destructible in the mod. For a while throwing smoke grenades could DESTROY a building if you threw enough (confirmed glitch, pretty sure it was patched out). Satchel charges and the like also would destroy a building. Unless heavy explosives are added I doubt we'll have to worry too much about destructible buildings. Destroying a building would be the last thing on my mind to be honest as a thing to do. Unless it was a warehouse FULL of zombies or something and even then I'd be more likely to barricade the door.
-
Well at least you picked an IMI DE. I honestly don't see it fitting the setting, as mentioned above I don't think your average Chenarus Farmer would be buying a DE for home defense/hunting, and there's really no way to 'spawn it only in the north' as weapon spawns are scattered randomly among buildings. I also don't think your average CDF solider/Officer would be buying it as his personal sidearm either.

...Quoi? I have the feeling I should be insulted for some reason.

The problem with this is that everyone would need to have the audio files on their computer to hear them. I'm not sure but they could possibly do something where the server 'sees' the files and uploads them to the server, but that might just be a legal headache not to mention a possible way to exploit/hack. Battlefield:Vietnam had something similar, where you could replace one of the preset 'radio stations' (songs) with your own songs. Thing is while you might be bumping Linkin Park on your radio, I'm still hearing Ride of the Valkyries on my end (I know because my old clan leader would keep his mic open and sing in Vent, I'd hear Linkin Park on his mic but something else would be playing on the vehicle radio). If they add in musical radios (they already have plans for Internet Radio stations on the Radios) it'll probably be 'public domain' type songs found on CDs or some other media (more than likely 'Russian'/Eastern European music rather than *Random American Musician*'s newest hit.
