[MAP SUGGESTION] Balota->Civilian Airport (+ Lumber Factory Idea)
IkaikaKekai replied to yorkmorgan's topic in Suggestions
True, but they would probably put the spawns back to generally spawning around the coast rather than just the NE part of the coast. I do miss spawning in Kamenka, I haven't even seen it since I started playing standalone. -
One: Because what you see is just a model. It is not working yet, right now they just have a shiny pile of pixels that can do nothing until they get it to actually work. I also notice there's a 'butane grenade' in there, and haven't seen one of thosue around yet. They released the models of the binocs a long time ago and they're just not getting added in (and said that they're buggy still). If making a model was the final part of anything, I could crank out fully interiored/enterable buildings every couple of hours for BI using Google Sketchup.

[MAP SUGGESTION] Balota->Civilian Airport (+ Lumber Factory Idea)
IkaikaKekai replied to yorkmorgan's topic in Suggestions
Balota used to be a civil airport (with a military camp set up nearby), I wish they'd put it back to that. There's already a couple of lumber mills, most noticeably in Berezino, with a smaller one near Zelenogorsk (and I'm sure there's a few others spread about, I think there's still one north of Lopatino, I've also seen logging camps all around). -
My first kill was a day or so after Alpha went out. I was in Novy, I just found a mosin and some ammo for it. Running around in the dark when I hear (and I shit you not) "Rawr, I'ma kill you bitch! Rawr!" Guy runs up to me with a flashlight and I guess tries to tackle me (still holding the flashlight and nothing else). Now I'm normally a live and let live kinda guy...but in my mind I just said 'fuck em'. I holstered my flashlight, unslung my mosin (they had time to run), shot him in the head, and his friend. I'm not sure which was which that made the 'threat', and I feel mildly bad for shooting the other unarmed.

It's a little late for you now, but I think can openers can be used as weapons now.

Want to: Produce Machinima, Need: Way to start DayZ SA in SP mode!

Far as I know there's no legit way to do what you want. Sorry. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
IkaikaKekai replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
There are no private hive servers, and if there are they're cracked ones that are more than likely out of date, probably being run by hackers themselves. -
As-50_Thermal and MP5K [ Standalone ]

So assuming this is from the files, its a joke then. -
Yep, I'd say hack or a glitch then.

Police and S.W.A.T uniforms/weapons?
IkaikaKekai replied to ThatBritshGuy's topic in General Discussion
Gendarmerie is a general term for Paramilitary Police units, SWAT is just an American term (and it's not even used in all States, here they're known as SSD). And as Gews would probably point out OMON or whatever the Chenarus equivalent would be probably wouldn't be running around exclusively with MP5s and 870s ala their American counterparts. -
Might be a hack, they've been doing infinite ammo for M4s so they might have migrated it over to SKSs. In real life they have replacement mags for the SKS (some that can hold 75 rounds, and Im sure at one point I saw a 100 round SKS mag somewhere), but far as I know it's the standard 10 round factory mag for SKSs in DayZ. I would say it's probably possible to click fast enough in semi auto to come near an M4 in terms of volume, but it would still be bursts of 10, a reload (even with a shitton of stripper clips), and bursts of 10 again.

What stage of post apocalypse is dayz at

You make the point, but in Cuba, until recently (like last month) it was illegal to purchase a new car, so those fortunate enough to have cars would take good care of them. As far as I know the Civil war did not happen in the DayZ universe, but I may have misread that, they could be explained by rioting or the chaos that happened during the outbreak (Some of the Humvees look like they got hit by an IED). People do stupid shit when ROL goes out the window (Like steal TVs during a power out). As for not using newer 'intact' models, people would be wonder why we don't have working vehicles, you see a burned out husk of a car with a large cavity where the engine used to be and you know 'Shit, I'm not gonna drive that thing...'. Now if you see an otherwise intact car that's just a static model, you'll be wondering 'wtf, damn devs why can't I drive that thing?! Assholes!' As for the streetlights being on, it's been said they're not suppose to be on at all, though they could be explained with the old 'battery backup and solar panel' argument I just go on the assumption they're not suppose to be on and ignore them. Much as I hate to say it...yeah...shit will change on the whims of the Devs. -

The rusted cars could be explained as simply poor maintenance of old vehicles (Cold War Era) in a coastal area (salt spray helps to speed up rust) that's also a poor country. And of course there's always the 'placeholder' argument, that they had rusty burned out car models left over from Arma2 and simply reused them till the artists get done with the more important (or easier to do) things. I would personally guess that we are no more than a year past 'Z Day' so to speak, and no earlier than a week after Z Day, with Z day being the day that all humans who are not immune are either dead or infected. Yes that's kinda ambiguous but so be it. I'm sure we'll know more as the lore itself is fleshed out and added to the game. Then again, 'It's Your Story', if thinking the infected are Walking Dead helps you cope with the apocalypse and all the things you've had to do to survive so be it. -

Even the Original Zombies were not in fact undead, simply people who's deaths were faked and brainwashed into being slaves. But 'I put a fake death serum in your brother's food, waited for you to bury him, dug him up, and kept him in a drugged state and brainwashed him' doesn't quite sound as badass as 'I killed him with a curse and raised him from the dead to be my eternal slave.' Until you think about it and the exact dosages and extracts needed to make the fake death drug. That's pretty badass in it's own right, but badass in the sense that 'I need to shoot you in the face soon as I see you and not eat/drink anything you give me.' -
I'd like to see modern muzzle loading/black powder rifles (yes, they exist) rather than some museum piece which might turn into a pipebomb.
-
They'ed need to do new mocap and a skeleton for fat and skinny models, otherwise you'd just have a guy in a fatsuit running around and it would look awkward. It's still early though so maybe someday.

Flowing streams aren't even safe to drink straight from (as I said, leptospirosis is a big problem here in Hawaii), even rain catchment water should be boiled/treated.
-
Contaminated ponds are coming, they just need to get sicknesses like cholera in and working. Also one would get sick drinking from ponds without boiling or disinfecting them is because humans and animals tend to forget the golden rule, don't shit where you eat/drink. Wild water can be contaminated in any number of ways, dead bodies, feces, or even just someone/thing sick taking a swim, not to mention industrial and man made waste. Sometimes the contaminate doesn't even have to be in the water, heavy rains usually wash all kinda bad shit into rivers and lakes (Some asshole with leptospirosis takes a shit next to a river, it rains, washes it into the water, and now the river is contaminated with leptospirosis). Unless you're getting your water straight from a artisan spring/well you'll need to sterilize it somehow.

PVE servers will probably only happen after Private Hives are made, and maybe not even then. AFAIK the team has no plans to make a 'pvp switch' so to speak, so we might have to wait till they allow modding and someone makes a 'PvP Switch'.
-
You're probably playing on a Hardcore and Regular server. They each save different chars. Stick to the same server and you shouldn't have a problem. Even if you switch a lot oyu shouldn't have a problem, just know that whatever you do on a Hardcore won't transfer to a Regular, and vise versa.

Probably sometime after full release.

Items to add... (Hope Devs and community will like them)
IkaikaKekai replied to GunnyITA's topic in Suggestions
More like... Leg holsters have been suggested many times before, and more than likely will be added eventually. I'd imange they'ed have to make a new 'belt' layer as well as a few other 'belt' options (toolbelt, fanny pack, ect) I don't think there should be portable bullet making kits. If anything they should be in set locations that you can use to make a few bullets. A lot of other stuff has to be added however, such as gunpowder, lead, shell casings, shotgun hulls, primers, ect. Brass knuckles would be kinda cool to add, maybe replace the 'hand' slot -
Will more than likely be merged into one H1Z1 post. As for 'incentive to complete dayz'? Why does SOE trying to get in on the zombie craze give incentive? Is Rocket going to hire sweatshop workers to push stuff out faster?

I support the idea of learning things from books, but simply '+15 to reload' is a bit hoaky, especially since there's no skills. Maybe reading a medical journel so you learn how to cure different things (when other diseases are added). Or reading a pilot's manual to learn how to properly start up a helicopter/aircraft. Even crafting recipes from books (don't need the book to craft something, so once you know how you don't need it). Cookbooks so you can learn how long you need to safely cook food/meat, and how to spice up food.
