What are you bitching about? You can't even get sick now. There is no (at the moment) consequences for running around in the rain or having soaking wet clothing. When they do add it, you'll be able to run from shelter to shelter in a town or wear a rain coat to keep from getting too wet.

There already is a russian language book in game.

Perhaps not, but still, over 10 million (on paper) AKMs vs 8 million. Still more common than the M4/AR15, which was my off topic point. We're talking about a platform that has been turned into just about every type of firearm aside from a pistol (and no, I don't consider those SBRs without a stock a pistol. They're SBRs that managed to jump through a legal loophole in most places) It was a design decision to use the AKM over the AK47 (or any of its millions of variants). Power has nothing to do with it's 'rarity', if power had anything to do with how rare something is, shotguns and magnums would be up in that high tier.

I would call bullshit on that. Over 100 million AK style rifles made vs over 8 million AR15/M16/M4 rifles made. Gangs will use whatever they can get their hands on, armed forces are a bit more picky, sometimes politics and business plays more of a factor than anything else. Personally, if I had my own country, my soldiers and militias would be armed with AKs, and my police and spec ops would be armed with ARs. To get back on track, The devs had made comments recently about simplifying calibers and guns a bit (IE a AK74 will use 5.56 instead of the correct 5.45, Mosin and Draganov will use 7.62x51 NATO instead of 54r, Makarov will simply use 9mmP instead of 9mmM, so on and so fourth just so there aren't 59 different types of ammo and 65 different guns). It's already been confirmed that as more civilian/survival guns get added, military/high end arms will be much rarer, so a group of bandits might have one M4 or AKM while everyone else has hunting/sport rifles. I would personally like to see that Western Military weapons are much more rarer than Eastern Military weapons, just because of the location (with the exception of a few off the wall/rare western guns like the AA12, I don't want them completely missing from the game)

3) And rather than say just spamming R 6 times to reload the magnum you have to actually wait or time it right for the taps. IE not get in 6 taps before you reload the first bullet and all the bullets will reload. Time it so you have to be almost done or done loading one bullet before tapping R to do the next one. 4) Oh god yes. That or allow us to toggle/flip the light. Up close, medium, and far. 5) I'd rather the light bleed a lot more (less light the further away from the center you get) rather than the concentrated circle of light we have now, also for light to actually spread. IE a flashlight can light up an entire room from the reflections and such. 10) It will be next patch. 17) All guns are up in the air right now, and they have said they will have more 'survival'/civilian guns spawn when they add more in. I would have AKM more common than the M4/AR15 however.

Was gonna say I just saw one too and I never opted in to Exp. Maybe they're pushing what's good enough to stable.

POCKET SAND! Or glitter!

Quail, maybe some black francolins...they don't have turkeys in Eastern Europe do they? Damnit...now I want to hurry up and buy my gunsafe so I can buy a shotgun...

Yeah, it's also to cut down slightly on the people just running to Balota to get fully geared.
-
It's random, but for now there's only a couple of spawns on the east coast, as they want to do more 'testing' in the newer areas (which are in the north east)
-
That'd be some real close range spraying, and you'd have to hit em in the (face) head to have any effect. Could be a fun way to do some non serious pvp as well, everybody use the water pistols (filled with water, not mace/lemon juice/'random' chemical) and whoever gets soaking wet status first loses.

Yarg. Beans for ye! And I've noticed that as well (with waterbottles/bandages/whathaveyou) but never though of it as a glitch before.

What about vehicles in test servers? Its just for test...
IkaikaKekai replied to kircheschm's topic in General Discussion
Because there's nothing to test (Vehicle wise). -
Experimental patch being released as stable?
IkaikaKekai replied to HecticKris's topic in General Discussion
IF everything works out right it can go to stable in as little as a week. (Notice the size of the 'if'.) -
There is no launcher, Steam is the only way to play the game. So it won't really mater if you buy direct from Steam or from the Website (unless you want to buy the Supporter Edition, which includes Arma2 Complete and a couple of extras like access to a Supporters only forum). More than likely you'd have to enter the Key in Steam if you buy it off of the website.

Took a break ~3months ago, came back today and...

I had my money on Global ban...*pays gibonez a can of beans and 2 boxes of 7.62x51* -
I believe they respawn now, but it's very basic. And yes there's more than 3 per server now.

Nesuma nailed it. That and your body stays logged in for 30 seconds after you log out/crash/alt-f4/powerout/whatever. If someone comes up and puts 3 in your head, handcuffs you, or if a zombie kills you during that 30 seconds you're pretty much dead. Stay away from 'No PVP allowed' servers as they are against server rules and are often targeted by KOSers and Trolls. Find a small handful of servers that you like (I'd say no more than 3 per Normal/Hardcore) ) that you know your gear will transfer between. As for renting a server, I'd advise against it right now, there's not much benefit to doing so and very little control on your end for the price. The only option right now is renting public servers at something like $60 or more a month. There are no private hives and the rules for public servers there are rules you have to obey (some consider them strict, I don't think so for a public hive server), although rarely enforced, if you're caught violating them or get reported you lose your server without a refund. There are no server files to download to host your own yet (and probably won't be till late beta or Release). Any files you do find out there are not legit and cracked/hacked.

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
IkaikaKekai replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
My problem was that they were armed, and the view distance allowed them to see pretty much anyone trying to hide in scrub/bushes/trees. That and the mounted guns on them. Also unless you had an LMG or were a crack shot with a sniper rifle you were pretty much fucked. I'd like to see it so that we only have unarmed Helis (Civil aircraft/unarmed military transports). Instantly having a parachute should be removed as well. If added at all they should be a loot item you have to wear if you want to jump out without dying/breaking your legs, and it would replace your pack/vest. You want to insert your team into an area, you actually have to land long enough for them to get out. I also like the idea of first person only for Helis. Something that should be solved by the TOH mechanics is that not every idiot can just jump in the pilots seat and 'fly' good enough to get 20 feet off the ground and do a belly flop into the ground ruining hours/days of hard work. Now your standard idiot shouldn't even be able to turn the thing out properly without a shitton of luck. -
Wow, an actual Idea that hasn't been suggested yet (far as I can tell). You'd probably still have to disinfect/clean it somehow if it was from going in the lake/rivers. Rain soaked clothes should be alright but probably still dirty from the sweat and dirt on the clothing itself.

The Supporter Edition gives you not only the Standalone Game (Which you can get from just Steam for around $30, maybe less) but you also get all the games you need to play the Mod (plus more DLCs for ARMA2) and some other things like access to an exclusive forum and such.

Yes 'Lore'. Rocket's brother, a Virologist, actually wrote a paper about how the zombies could have realistically came about (I've yet to find/read it, but my money's on some form of Rabies that went airborne) As stated in the two posts above me it has been said by Rocket many times. I forget exact numbers, but something like 60% of the world were simply killed by the virus, somewhere around 35-39% became infected/zombies, and the remaining 1% are the players, people who are not only immune to the virus, but manage to stay alive this long.

There wasn't any AI other than the zombies and the wildlife in the Mod...the mods of the Mod on the other hand... And as mentioned above, there will be no non Zombie/Animal AI in Standalone. There won't even be 'dynamic' heli crashes (where you see the heli actually crashing) or NPC radio chatter (not to be confused with 'Web Radio' stations that will be able to be picked up ingame with radios). Modding will be allowed from what I can tell, so you'll have to wait for that to happen (probably sometime after Release, and however long it takes for someone to come up with acceptable non infected AI afterwards).
