    Torture in DayZ SA?

I'll throw in my 2 cents on the topic. It's not real. There's a difference between someone skinning cats alive, and punching a handcuffed video game character in some effort to torture them. It does say something about the person doing such things, but not about the game overall. I would think they added drinking bleach and such either a means of killing ourselves or as a 'stove hot' mechanic. If you're stupid enough to do it and live you'll learn not to do it again. It was a fad at release because there wasn't much else to do. That video you show is nothing, just a bunch of jackasses being jackasses in a game. You think that's bad where a pixel is being beaten to the point of bleeding and shot for the 'lulz' is bad, try watching a pig being slaughtered. The generic fountains of blood are nothing compared to seeing the real thing slowly creep down someone's driveway as soft oinks turn into ear piercing squeals and ends with a heavy thud. That made me more than a little queasy, and I eat pork almost exclusively. On the topic of 'what do they need to add', that's an unanswerable question, because the game would be shutdown/banned before anything 'offensive' that would make me stop playing was added. That won't stop the asshole players from trying. Rape for example, it'll NEVER be added, but players will try, even if they just handcuff their victim, stand directly in front of them and just verbally abuse, 'oh yeah, such it bitch' ect ect ect. Now granted, I've never been tortured in game, but see no point to it either. If I were, with the mechanic we have now our character is killed if we logged out while handcuffed, which is what I would do if I had any inclination to know that my captors are going to kill me anyway. I'd just consider it biting my tongue off to kill myself, but that's because I know this is a game and rather than sit through their jerkfest waiting to be killed, I'd rather skip all that and start over sooner.

WHY are the big buildings not big?

Another 'its not a school' post by me. Who the hell puts a school in an active lumber yard? I mean the stereotype is that Eastern Europeans are tougher/less caring, but still 'okay kids go outside and have recess, and those of you who don't get run over by a truck or forklift will go on to the next grade'. It's a somewhat generic office building, it has offices (the rooms with 1-2 desks) storage (the rooms with racks) and an outside waiting room (chairs in the hallway) (as most offices are meant to be, if they get to the point where they start to individualize buildings by adding more props to certain ones then that can distinguish them). Keep in mind, most of these buildings are leftovers from a milsim game where normally you'd be out in the woods or fighting in an open field rather than slithering through houses and buildings to scavenge for supplies. People quite often get shit out of scale, hopefully they'll fix it, if not, lore wise I'll blame it on a shitty building code and subpar contractors.

    Bullet Cam

You're looking for Sniper Elite...that's two doors down the hall. (I swear to god when I had it set to the lowest setting I had a bullet cam every 3 kills) *Edit, adding in reasons* It wouldn't be a good idea. Even 'just for fun' after a while it would get old. I either see the bloodspray and whatever I shot fall. Or I don't see the blood spray and see my target scatter. I can't really see from my bullet's prospective, and it might give an unfair advantage. I now KNOW for sure that my target is DEAD, not wounded or faking it. It would also take you out of the action, you're watching the replay as your character is still in game and exposed. In a single player it can be fun because you're actually pausing the game to view this instant replay of the kill. Now imagine if there was no pause, and there is more than one guy you're shooting at. His friends now have 5-10 seconds to find and kill you as you enjoy your little replay, unable to move or line up another shot till your new Snuff Vine is over.

WHY are the big buildings not big?

First of all, it's not a school, its more of an office building. Second, not all hospitals can be mega structure or are the same. Are you talking about the new clinics they added in recent patches or the hospitals that have been in since the mod? I think your First Worlder credentials are showing. I've got a fairly nice house and (before the addons) it only had 5 rooms (bath, kitchen, living (also a 'mud room' but that was more of an entry), 2 bedrooms) and was expected to house 2 families. Chenarus is a poor, rural country that at best is a second world country.

    Randomize the map.

How 'random' are we talking here? Every restart the map changes, every server being different? Not gonna happen. I know the map pretty good from experience, as I'm sure you know you're home town's layout from experience. That said, I still get lost in game as I don't know the entire layout of the map.

    The ability to relax ...

I don't think sleep would be a very good mechanic to add. If it was an ingame thing, where you actually have to be logged in and sleep, how would that be handled? I mean I don't play for more than 4 hours at a time on most occasions, say we need to rest 8 hours every 'day' of play. That'd be two play sessions of just black screen, that's if they do a real time thing (which they'ed have to since this is multiplayer persistent and not a single player game where you can just fast forward when you sleep IE Skyrim). If they made us 'sleep' when we log off like what I hear Rust does...well we hear enough bitching on this forum about people getting killed in the 30 seconds it takes to log out. I also see no correlation between sleep and 'healing', other than some of the natural processes a HEALTHY body goes through (yes there are some parts of the body that only 'heal' while you're sleeping). Then there's the limitation thing. IE if you play so long your avatar gets tired and the game 'forces' you to log out for a certain amount of time. While that could be argued for 'realism', I say real life is good enough for that and they don't need to spend time making a game mechanic for that. Say you pull a marathon session, in real life you're gonna be tired, your brain won't function as well, you'll be making mistakes in game, more missed shots, not seeing that movement in the treeline, or shooting at that same movement, thinking it's a player and it turned out to just be a deer, now there's zombies all around you as well as alerting the KOSer/Bandit nearby. Now if they made something like while you log off you slowly heal if you are hydrated and fed (like say 1/10th the healing you'd do if you were actually logged in). But even then, what happens to your hunger and thirst while logged out? Does that go down too? What happens if you can't/don't play for a week? I'd say resting would be the better alternative, other than providing a small boost to your sprint or whatever was intended. Let's say you're badly wounded. Very low on blood, broken leg, ect. You've got a camp set up and a friend is making a hospital run for supplies. While you're waiting for morphine and possibly a blood bag you're back at camp cooking/smoking meat, or otherwise improving the camp and otherwise just killing time. Since you're not doing anything strenuous like sprinting for 5 kilometers with two guns and a pack full of canned food, you're healing a little faster, not using up as much energy/calories.

    Fire from on your back

You know, I always liked being able to do that in Metal Gear Online (or whatever it was called, the multiplayer packed with MGS4). Probably be uncomfortable as hell to do but I sniped a couple of times in that position, feet first, almost supporting my weapon.

    Some Gun Suggestions

From my understanding the Israeli army didn't adopt it because the guys who field tested it said it was just draining to fire. It's heavy and has a lot of recoil for a pistol. It's a gun you carry if you want to kill/scare off a bear. And did not know that they offered the Deagle in lower calibers, I knew they offered .50 AE, .44 Mag and .357 Mag for the 'base' model, and there were lookalikes that others sold in different calibers. I mentioned using the .357 version because the Devs have recently said they want to compress the different types of ammo, so we don't have say 20 different guns and 15 different types of ammo (IE the Makarov in SA will use 9x18 Luger rather than 9x19 mak, the mosin and draganov will use 7.62x51 rather than 54r, and the AK74 will use 5.56 rather than 5.45). And for the Deagle, why have this big ass heavy gun if you're gonna fire 'weak' (I use that word loosely) ammo. I highly doubt that. This is a .50AE not a .50BMG. It's big but it's not THAT big.

    Some Gun Suggestions

Ruger Ranch Mini-14/Mini-30, ammo's already in. Also there's not much tactical about the DEagle, but people will whine and beg. Maybe if they add in the .357 model so they won't be adding .50AE just for the DEagle.

    The Ultimate Endgame Rifle

The house was probably more easily defenseable, and the lower decks were probably crawling with those zombie vampire things. Need to go rewatch that movie but I would think there's less ways into the townhouse. No little access hatch somewhere under one of the AA gun sites that leads right into the ship.

    The ability to relax ...

Scavenger enters a building, sees a medic and sniper sitting down on a couch watching a TV. Scavenger: "What the hell?" Medic: "Dude, we got the telly to work." Scavenger: "Really? Holy shit, what's on?" Sniper: "Night of the Living Dead." Scavenger sits down on the couch. Bandit and a handcuffed freshspawn walk in. Freshspawn: "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME!" Bandit: "Shut up noob!" Medic: "You got the stuff?" Bandit: "Yeah man, it's in his pack." Medic goes into the freshspawn's pack and passes everyone soda and food. Freshspawn: "HELP!" Bandit hits him with a baseball bat: "Shut up and sit down."

    What happened to utes

If they're still adding Utes (I've heard conflicting things, neither from the Devs) they won't add it till boats are in, since there'd be no way to get to it.

Long Chain and Chain Ball For Hostiles

That, would kill your makeshift packmule. These are not the undead, they are infected living. So unless you've got something to cauterize the wounds it's gonna die (even then it might die from the shock). Now handcuffing a zombie on the other hand...

    Make mics a requirement.

Oh I'm not? Seriously? Shit I thought my paycheck was dependent upon playing a game I enjoy. Guess I'll go do something else now. Maybe I should get my Hunting License laminated, I've been meaning to do that for a while now. You're quick to talk about choice, and just as quick to want to take away that choice. If I don't want to connect a mic and do some useless voice command to play a game I WANT to play, and otherwise can't play it till I do that thing I don't want to do that wasn't required before, it's NOT a choice. *EDIT* Expanding on choice: I mentioned earlier about some private hives requiring you to be on their TS. THAT is a choice, I can CHOOSE to play on that private hive and be on their TS as required, or I can CHOOSE to be on another server while still playing the same game I CHOSE to play.

    Silence while unconscious/dead.

Aye, full beans for you. I'm dead/unconscious, there's absolutely no reason I should be hearing some little kid scream obscenities and slurs at me and otherwise stroke their e-peen.

Long Chain and Chain Ball For Hostiles

That wasn't my point. I meant that leashing (which is what you want to do with the chain) can be problematic when it comes to two player controlled entities. You see people getting 'yanked' out of sync, the puller moves smoothly and unless the pull-ie is following of their own free will, the animation is jerky at best. Then it comes to interaction with the rest of the world. I've seen leashed people get suck on a door, and as the person who leashed them continue to walk they get stuck int he various corners of the room their in, unable to do anything to get unstuck as the 3 foot leash 'magically' extends to halfway across the map as the Leash holder keeps walking.

    Make mics a requirement.

So, by your own admission, you just want to force people to HAVE mics to start the game, even though there is no requirement to actually use them in game, but your main point is that forcing them to use mics will force more peaceful player interactions? I'm confidant when I say this that this will never happen, not for a DayZ. Rocket has said many times they will not force/punish one playstyle over another, I don't imagine they're gonna say, 'but everyone needs a mic to play.' Some private servers may require you to be on their VOIP server in order to play, but this is just a useless hoop to jump through for a PRIVATE server.. You might as well have a morality quiz or some sort of age verification, both of which can be by passed, and I'm sure the 'mic requirement' you want could be bypassed as well with some combination of free software and a sound file. Privacy concerns aside, imagine how annoying it would be. I know I cringed when I used to play BF3 and would just hear breathing and background noises from someone's mic set to transmit. Yeah, I really wanna hear your parents talking in German about the grocery list they're making in the next room, or your dogs barking. Before you make assumptions and an insult to try and back up your point: yes, I do have a mic, yes it's plugged in. I simply don't talk. I'm a loner in Chenarus. If I see someone and they don't see me, I want to keep it that way, I'm gonna quietly sneak away. I don't want the sound of my AC turning on, or my dogs going berserk every time a Jehovah comes to my gate to give away my position. Someone runs up to me shouting 'friendly', I reply simply with, "Stay back", if the rifle pointed at their face as they drew closer wasn't enough of a hint.

    What about for mute players?

Long Chain and Chain Ball For Hostiles

Do they even still use the ball and chain anymore? I mean other than a museum where would you find a real one? Modern leg shackles do more than enough to hobble an inmate, especially if they are connected to the cuffs. I think the best option for captive control should be the direct approach. You grab the captive and force them to walk, similar to dragging in Arma2/Mod. In Second Life 'leashing' one player to another ends up with some weird results at times, I doubt it would be much better with the DayZ engine.

Plan for release of 0.45 to Stable

When it's stable, AKA when it's ready. Hopefully it will be this Wednesday, but I don't have surveillance equipment in BI's office so I don't know for sure.

    Enhanced server management

That actually does sound kinda cool, though as Kich said, probably won't happen till modding is allowed. Can picture servers having just melee, just high grade military weapons, or just civilian weapons.

    Question I have

Reg said it pretty good IMO, there's other reasons too, like security and such. Right now there's no private hives either, and all the public servers need to be using the same version. With all the bitching going on there'd be people making 'mods' of exprimental content and pushing it to stable. What's the number one moan and gripe? No cars, why don't you add cars, just add arma2/3 cars, I'm a lazy bastard that thinks I'll be given a fully working SUV with SATNAV, armor plating, and a roof mounted Minigun as soon as I spawn, ect, ect, ect. This way if they wait for most of the ground work to be added, you won't have conflicting mods or people putting in broken things.

    Still to much rain

I like the rain and don't think they need to tone it down. I like rain, rain washes away the sins of world, much like the zombie virus. So it sets the mood really well for me.
