Sounds like it'd be more of a pain in the ass than a real measure.

The infection you got was not the zombie virus. It was something else (think they actually added two different types of infection to the mod but I stopped playing so I don't know). Just because your Immune to Zombie doesn't mean you're gonna be immune to Sepsis, Cholera, or whatever else the Devs have in store for us. Much as I hate to bring Walking Dead into this, you remember when everyone got sick because of one zombie? Same thing.
-
Never gonna happen. It's not only against the lore, The zombies are not undead, they are infected living, which is why non headshots will kill them, players are confirmed to be the few that are actually immune to the Virus. Other than that very little info has been released about the Virus itself, my theory is that it's an airborne mutation of Rabies without the 'time limit' of Rabies. Once you're dead, you're dead, no coming back. It would also cause problems on a technical aspect.

Shit...I want to try and build one of these now, really wish I could see the wheels they are using.
-
More than likely gonna happen. Just not going on right now because they need the bodies to despawn quickly. For removing clothing from them I don't think that's gonna happen, but other things might happen like in the mod (cans of food, sometimes ammo on soldiers or police).

There's so much in the way of rail travel. I work on a 3ft gauge railway, the crew jokes that we could just remove the tires and run on the rims of the golfcart we use to get around the yard and use it as a speeder (One of the old standard gauge railways on the Big Island simply replaced the wheels of a Studebaker with flanged wheels and welded the steering column in place and made an inspection car). Kinda wish I could see the wheels he's using but they don't need to be much to run on rails.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
IkaikaKekai replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
I'm not saying that duping isn't rampant, I'm just saying Battle Eye (which deals almost exclusively with hacks) isn't the way to go about dealing with glitches, finding how how they're done and patching them out is the way to do it. Want to help make a difference? Go to the bugtracker and Upvote glitches that dupe items, if you know how to do a few that aren't listed, put them in the Bug Tracker. Other than that it's sit and wait. *Edit* And think of it this way, when the children have their duping ability taken away from them, you'll be running circles around them and getting killshots because you were practicing with a single box of ammo whereas they learned pray and spray. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
IkaikaKekai replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Well...it's not really BI/Dean that do battle eye. And I'd say right now, it's not caught by BE because think of it this way, duping is a glitch, intentional or not. Would you really wanna be banned for a glitch in an Alpha of a game? Especially when we are encouraged to try and break the game (as well as report the breaks and how we made them)? -
Good luck with your ban/break.
-
Eventually... Not much points to mods right now, no private hives to have them on, and all public hive servers need to be vanilla. You'd 'break' a mod every time an update comes out. That and you'd also give the real hackers a tool to develop hacks. I mean yeah they'll make their own, but you'd just be handing them a tool in that case. They want things to be as secure as they can reasonably be before the start releasing files. That and I can just see all the redundant mods that would come out that do lazy shit like import stuff from the Mod (vehicles, tents, ect). 'I download dis mod and now i get de golba ban. I wan refund!!!1'

Big Mike:*holds up leather glove* "Alright 'Io Kai, tell me where the bandits are!" 'Io Kai: *lands on glove* "CAW!" Big Mike: "...Did not think this through..." Bandit 1 of 12: "I saw it go this way over the hill." Big Mike: "Well...fuck..." 'Io Kai: *flies off after a rabbit, never to be seen again* And you're pulling all this falconing experience out of what orifice of yours now?

Fishing line or a String to Choak out people with
IkaikaKekai replied to Rhaptic's topic in Suggestions
Most fishing line would snap (the higher test lines would survive however). Rope and two sticks would make a garrote as well (and it's already in the game). I don't really think that COD style 'press R3 for instant kill' fits in with DayZ, and I can't see anyway to make a strangle weapon being anything else with the current system. -
If it's the spot you pointed to on the map, it's been mentioned before. Don't think it's a town per say, but rather an extension of NEAF. Checked DayZDB's maps (Both mod and SA) It's new to the SA but it's been in for a couple of patches at least. In the mod there was just a dirt road leading up to there that ended at a shed. Since there's very little at NEAF in the way of buildings I'd say that's where the actual barracks are, and to keep the airfield itself clear because (at least according to Arma2 Lore) NEAF is a 'practice' field where paratroopers would train.

You only hide the body when they have something worth looting. This one needs to fester in the sun a bit.

And .44, and .43....42...41....40...shrimp cocktail...shrimp gumbo...
-
Pretty sure I'm downloading .46 as we speak on steam. Try restarting steam if you need to, but won't matter much for another few hours or so.
-
No. They are gonna keep updating it. If they didn't they'ed be wide open to not only lawsuits but to refund everyone their money. Dean does want to step down, I believe (no source to confirm) he will stay on as lead if he's not happy with where things are at the end of the year. Someone else will step up to take his place however.

*Smirks* Kinda hard to aim straight when DA POWAH overwhelms you! *tosses underwear at you and runs* WHOOPWHOPWHOPWHOPWHOOOOOO!
-
Yes, they are...the sack I'm about to put over your head however...
-
My underwear can be torn into 2 stacks of bandages, however you need two (full) bottles each of bleach to disinfect them.

.46 coming to stable this wednesday 2 July
IkaikaKekai replied to alferret's topic in General Discussion
Someone (not the person you quoted) made the claim that grenades have a 200m maim zone. Many stood up to correct him, but he just doubled down with insults, insinuating that they had no real world experience and got their info from wikipedia, while at the same time saying something like 'it's been reported that German grenades had maiming ranges of 200m', which I'm kinda curious as to where he got that 'fact' if not from Wikipedia or some other online source. Shit escalated and I believe him and a couple others received temp posting bans...(or if he hasn't he's wised up as a troll and stopped posting) and that sums up the drama. I would like to think he confused feet with meters, but even then that still leaves about 155 'meters' unaccounted for. -
.46 coming to stable this wednesday 2 July
IkaikaKekai replied to alferret's topic in General Discussion
Would be nice, might not be too realistic, but if it started as the 'sawn off' MP5K and you could put on the 'normal' barrel and attachments that would be okay by me. -
I read Baklava...I was expecting a nice honey treat...*leaves room*

.46 coming to stable this wednesday 2 July
IkaikaKekai replied to alferret's topic in General Discussion
SOP for Japanese bunkers and firing positions in WW2 was to dig a small somewhat deep hole in about the middle of the 'room' to collect rain water as well as to kick grenades or toss 'hot' shells into (where the primer was impacted but the round did not explode) into. Sometimes they would even have a trench in the back near the entrance so that if someone snuck up behind their position and tossed in a grenade it would (hopefully) roll into the trench and blow up (mostly) harmlessly. Didn't realize that .46 was going to be a 'mini' update. Guess they all can't include the big things like hunting. Oh well, looking forward to having a grenade on me for anti bandit purposes. Just hope I can pull the pin and drop the grenade. Speaking of which, whatever did happen to the MP5(K), thought it was suppose to be in .45? -

Highly doubt it...what's actually IN .46 anyway?
