If your store/company buys em for $8 (depending on where they're made) they're probably made for less than a dollar in total materials and shipping eats up the chunk of the 'profit', that and they're probably sold for double that retail. (checked their site, direct from them one straw is about $20, they do have some other models too like one with it's own bottle and a 'family' sized one). Maybe they'll be 'high end' loot at crash sites or maybe places like the Cherno International Hotel or even camp sites. Welcome to the forums by the way, little 'pro' tip, use multiquote to respond to more than one post, such as... Id like to think I'm active myself, but stuff sneaks by all the time. Id say about 90% of the suggestions made here have either already been suggested (in more or less detail), have been confirmed as something planned, or have been confirmed as never going to happen (zombie players, for example). In fact sometimes the suggestions are things that are already in the game.

He wasn't being rude, Lifestraw itself has been suggested many many times before. By 'run down' he meant poor, and the normal ways they would have to have clean drinking water are already in place (IE Wells and pumps). Groundwater can be contaminated, but usually by pollutants rather than bacteria. Surface water is the more dangerous one, and the standard way to deal with that is to boil water. We already have a cooking system and pots to boil water in. The military would either have large stills/machinery to purify water en mass, in the field they would use the cheapest method (which would be the water purifier tabs we have now), not issuing each soldier with an expensive item that needs to be maintained. Tabs are simple, rip open, drop in the bottle, wait the designated amount of time, consume.

Would be nice, but for now we'll have to stick with boiling and water purification tabs. Hopefully when we get bases/can barricade buildings we'll eventually be able to set up stills to 'automatically' clean water we pour into it.

Thought the mod was 50 slots, but I could be wrong. I think it was said a while ago they want the servers to get up to 150 people (though that was VERY early in the the preAlpha). I usually play on low pop servers so I haven't had the experience of a full server, though I think I'd more than likely agree jaxc. Then again just because the servers can/will be able to handle 150 people doesn't mean they'll always have that many on there. This makes it a bit interesting when I take in (at least what I understand) about this Shard business. I could see where one Private Shard would have say 3 servers, two set at 40 and one set at 80 or more and that would be the dedicated PVP server of the shard with most of the 'clan battles' taking place on that server, the other 2 would be the 'camp' servers where everyone has their base set up and would be split up into PVP and PVE.

Is it possible to submit that picture to Steam? Lets see how fun duping is when it results in a Vac Ban.

Yeah, I got no power over that, though in a way it's still something of a suggestion, and most of the time a suggestion on here turns into a discussion. From my understanding vehicles will be much harder to repair than they were in the mod (I mean tracking down spark plugs, harder). An unpowered bicycle will be the simplest thing they can add to get the foothold on vehicles, you'll have the frame (vehicle itself), and tires, possibly addons as well (baskets, sadlebags, headlamp) but that can be added on another patch. After they get the bike working (more or less) smoothly they'll add mopeds, scooters, motorcycles ect to get the more complex repairs and fuel mechanics in. Then they'll work on 4 wheeled vehicles and their physics/mechanics (part damage and the like) and so on.
-
Baby steps. Rather than just working on the vehicle (bike) they now have to add in a means of fixing and fueling the vehicle as well. This way they get the basic physics for vehicles done more quickly, then they can work on the repair aspect. When that's done they can add in the refueling aspect. After that they'll add a car and it's physics, so on and so on till we finally get helicopters.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
IkaikaKekai replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Can't explain it. Last two melee kills I got on zombies were white dot on the head and 2 hits they went down. -
Just picked up a 30 round mag ontop of/under the seat of a wrecked UAZ. No more chambering for me, and I can stay very far away from the death traps and PVP fields. Just need to find a second mag now. And yes .22 ammo itself is pretty common in civilian buildings.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
IkaikaKekai replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Yes, its broken, the hotfix made it so that you hit what you aim at, rather than what your weapon's swing runs into. So crosshair on the head will hit the head. Not the best solution in my mind but it's a quick and temporary fix, which is fine with me. -
Whacking a propane tank with an ax after using all my ammo on it and 2 zombies were beating on me. I wanted to restart.
-
Would be nice if they added the 'hunter's scopes' they've been talking about for a while, as well as some more civilian attachments. Like an ammo pouch for the buttstock that can store say 1-2 stacks of bullets or magazines. I'd also like to see a 'rail addon' for civilian weapons that would allow to mount most of the 'military' stuff (bipod, flashlight, the Milspec sights)

Tent/farm etc. mark on server's name where you have tent/farm etc.
IkaikaKekai replied to Khajiit13's topic in Suggestions
That'd actually be pretty useful, especially with all the similarly named public servers. -
ULTIMATE IMMERSION ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE MODE!
IkaikaKekai replied to R0B3RTF1SH3R's topic in Suggestions
Just...no. That'd be horrible, you'd be going around seeing tons of zombies with = s for faces, or anti Israel/Gaza/Ukraine/Russia slogan/picture #Craze. EDIT And think of the media bullshit that'd come out of that. "This just in, the hot new game where you kill your friends in order to survive. Should it be outlawed? Will this lead to another Sandyhook?" -
Wait till the WEEKLY maintenance is over.

They're called International Building Codes for a reason (though you always go with the more strict rule) and there's all sorts of stipulations (IE a Hotel room opens inward to keep the hallway from being blocked, but public rooms would have to open outward). This has been brought up before, I can't remember what the consensus was but I would guess the doors open outward in game because in the mod players would get their legs broken or even killed when they got caught between a wall and door when it swung open and they never got around to fixing/changing it.

For the Standalone: No. For the Mod: Yes, there's resources on this forums and elsewhere (I would recommend Google or the search feature)

I'd be a little suspicious about buying a 'license', but I'm not involved in servers of any kind. For right now the Devs will not release server files as a security measure, and probably won't till Release or maybe even later.
-
I would think it's an eventuality, weather it's at the end of the year as he would like, or later when he feels confidant DayZ can float without him.

*Plants grenade under body, pulls pin, body despawns, spoon springs up* "Awww...Fuc-"*BOOM*

Would be interesting if they are still going to add in Utes, though that might lead to clans hording vehicles on islands. Not sure if the engine could currently handle this either, since right now people can't 'roam' around vehicles, but again they are making changes to the engine so it might be possible.

More maps will come, whether they are made by BI or player made. Rocket has mentioned wanting to do a more 'Western' map, though that was before he announced he was going to step down, but it'll probably still happen.

We will se cars in next experimental update?
IkaikaKekai replied to kircheschm's topic in General Discussion
We won't see cars in the next update. It's been confirmed that the first vehicles they'll add to SA are bikes. So even if they released vehicles in the next patch (which is highly doubtful) that's a no. -
Pretty sure you can't put your tent in/on buildings or in trees like the 'good' ole days. I don't see much point at the moment since persistent storage isn't working yet. Besides, I'm not telling a bandit like you where I put my super awesome Tent Fort.

So did Heli Crashes get fixed this update?
IkaikaKekai replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
Dynamic server events are temporarily disabled I'd take that as a no.
