What country is this game set in?

You're over thinking this. You are in Chenarus, a Former Soviet Republic that is (mostly) Democratic. It boarders Russia, and the terrain is made from satellite images of the Czech Republic. You can find the exact area on Google (forget the town name), they just took the northern half of the map that was divided by a river. They signs are in Crylic, which is used by many languages, not just Russian (kind of like how many languages use the latin alphabet). The books are in english because that's what the source material was, there's a lot of books with french titles I haven't bothered to read so I would think they are in french. When localization takes place these books will be translated (hopefully) to your local language.
  2. Pretty sure it's modern day if not VERY near future (Like 2015 near). Lack of modern cars can be explained away. Cuba is only now getting some new cars but their expensive as fuck. And it's not like there's a Ford (Sorry, 'Gord Motor Company') dealership in Electro. And it is a poor country.

    Macs have servers?

    Linux servers ?

Think it was just recently mentioned that they plan to open it up so Linux can run the game, I would imagine this goes for servers as well. Might have been part of the DX11 talk.

    Poisons (and various herbology)

You'd be surprized what you can make poison from. You know Ricen? The plant it's made from grows in thickets near my old high school.

    NSPU NVG Scope

Holy Fuck! That thing looks like it's heavier than the gun it's mounted on.

    Vest Pouches

I think that's sort of the plan for the Vest, they mentioned it being modular and that you could add the pack to it to increase inventory. A modular system would be pretty cool. Say they add belts you could add the same medkit pouch to your belt, along with a gun holster or tool belt.

Poison arrows by stabbing dead zeds

They have said in the pass there will be means of infecting others with different diseases. Say rubbing a canteen or backpack against a zombie that was infected with cholera and putting it down in a high value place is one means of doing it. Simply stabbing a dead zombie at random wouldn't do it though (we're immune to the zombie virus). In the mod shortly before SA released they had 'infected' zombies, ones that were tougher and more 'grimy' looking, they had a high chance of infecting you with a sickness. I'm sure it'll be something similar when diseases are added. Either certain zombies will spawn 'sick' (cholera, gangrene, typhoid, smallpox, ect) and through contact with them (being attacked/attacking), certain items would/can be infected (that raincoat you picked up at the hospital might not be as clean as you think), or even environmental infections (drinking from an infected river, screwing around near a mass grave, ect).

    I found a suspicious M4

Yes it's a hacked mag. If you're feeling adventurous I'd take the mag out and find a body to put it on and hide (I think zombies stick around for just long enough to place an item)

    SA only servers

There's no way to 'hack' new items into the game, at least on legit versions of the game. If they're wearing it, it was made by the Devs. There are many many items in game currently, and they try to add more with each patch. I've yet to find an AK or Longhorn in the game, but they exist. People running around with matching clothes is possible they used a glitch to dupe the gear, but they could have farmed it as well. Most of the 'high end' gear spawns in military areas only, with the biggest usually being PVP areas or places where snipers camp. As a loner I try to avoid these areas, though sometimes I do get lucky (snag a magazine for my guns in vehicle wrecks away from bases).

    SA only servers

The OP mistakenly believes that the Mod and SA share severs. They do not. Anything you see in game has been added (or is a hacked in Item, such as infinite ammo). More detailed is needed however.

Zombies should respawn after 7-10 minutes, not immediately

The current respawn is NOT going to be the final. This is just a placeholder to prevent 2 people from clearing the server of zombies 20 mins after restart. The PLANED (last I saw/read) respawn mechanic is suppose to go like this: Players have a 'bubble' around them (forget the exact numbers but lets just say 1km). Players A & B enters a town (lets say Msta), and starts killing zombies and looting the town. Player A decides to move on while B decides he wants to barricade a house. Zombies won't respawn in the village as long as Player B remains within 1km of the town, but any wandering zombies may still enter the 'zone'. Now everything is subject to change, but the simple respawn we have now is just for testing purposes.

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

I don't give a rat turd either way. As far as I can guess we're not gonna be able to play with the Console versions anyway, and 'within 3 years' sound more like 2 and a half years, so it's not happening for a while. I would like to think that only people with low end PCs that have a Console would buy it because of some idea of better performance on the console, so we won't 'lose' that many players to the console version. I also see it being similar to Minecraft, the Console versions will lag behind update wise. All this does is open up the audience a bit more. That can be good, or it can be annoying. I can just see all the old 'suggestion' posts coming back for the PS version.

    Water Filtration

If your store/company buys em for $8 (depending on where they're made) they're probably made for less than a dollar in total materials and shipping eats up the chunk of the 'profit', that and they're probably sold for double that retail. (checked their site, direct from them one straw is about $20, they do have some other models too like one with it's own bottle and a 'family' sized one). Maybe they'll be 'high end' loot at crash sites or maybe places like the Cherno International Hotel or even camp sites. Welcome to the forums by the way, little 'pro' tip, use multiquote to respond to more than one post, such as... Id like to think I'm active myself, but stuff sneaks by all the time. Id say about 90% of the suggestions made here have either already been suggested (in more or less detail), have been confirmed as something planned, or have been confirmed as never going to happen (zombie players, for example). In fact sometimes the suggestions are things that are already in the game.

    Water Filtration

He wasn't being rude, Lifestraw itself has been suggested many many times before. By 'run down' he meant poor, and the normal ways they would have to have clean drinking water are already in place (IE Wells and pumps). Groundwater can be contaminated, but usually by pollutants rather than bacteria. Surface water is the more dangerous one, and the standard way to deal with that is to boil water. We already have a cooking system and pots to boil water in. The military would either have large stills/machinery to purify water en mass, in the field they would use the cheapest method (which would be the water purifier tabs we have now), not issuing each soldier with an expensive item that needs to be maintained. Tabs are simple, rip open, drop in the bottle, wait the designated amount of time, consume.
  21. IkaikaKekai

    Water Filtration

Would be nice, but for now we'll have to stick with boiling and water purification tabs. Hopefully when we get bases/can barricade buildings we'll eventually be able to set up stills to 'automatically' clean water we pour into it.

    MMORPG no. of player

Thought the mod was 50 slots, but I could be wrong. I think it was said a while ago they want the servers to get up to 150 people (though that was VERY early in the the preAlpha). I usually play on low pop servers so I haven't had the experience of a full server, though I think I'd more than likely agree jaxc. Then again just because the servers can/will be able to handle 150 people doesn't mean they'll always have that many on there. This makes it a bit interesting when I take in (at least what I understand) about this Shard business. I could see where one Private Shard would have say 3 servers, two set at 40 and one set at 80 or more and that would be the dedicated PVP server of the shard with most of the 'clan battles' taking place on that server, the other 2 would be the 'camp' servers where everyone has their base set up and would be split up into PVP and PVE.

    My response to dupers.

Is it possible to submit that picture to Steam? Lets see how fun duping is when it results in a Vac Ban.

    Vehicles.

Yeah, I got no power over that, though in a way it's still something of a suggestion, and most of the time a suggestion on here turns into a discussion. From my understanding vehicles will be much harder to repair than they were in the mod (I mean tracking down spark plugs, harder). An unpowered bicycle will be the simplest thing they can add to get the foothold on vehicles, you'll have the frame (vehicle itself), and tires, possibly addons as well (baskets, sadlebags, headlamp) but that can be added on another patch. After they get the bike working (more or less) smoothly they'll add mopeds, scooters, motorcycles ect to get the more complex repairs and fuel mechanics in. Then they'll work on 4 wheeled vehicles and their physics/mechanics (part damage and the like) and so on.
  25. IkaikaKekai

    Vehicles.

Baby steps. Rather than just working on the vehicle (bike) they now have to add in a means of fixing and fueling the vehicle as well. This way they get the basic physics for vehicles done more quickly, then they can work on the repair aspect. When that's done they can add in the refueling aspect. After that they'll add a car and it's physics, so on and so on till we finally get helicopters.
