We're not talking 'we can only afford one trip to Lego Land this year' poor, we're talking 'A truck full of chickens turned over on the road and I managed to scrape a dead one out from under my fender so we can eat more than bread tonight' poor. This is a post soviet state, meaning they didn't have much to begin with and they made due. I live fairly comfortably, but my house is an old plantation bunkhouse that was meant to hold at least 2 families of 4+. You and I have running water, we think that to be a bare minimum. Most people are lucky if they have a hand water pump in their town/village that they need to collect water from daily with a bucket. And keep in mind this was originally a mod of a milsim game with very little enterable buildings where the intent was never to have a fully fleshed and detailed interior design as soldiers (in most cases) aren't suppose to go kicking in doors, say 'wow that's a sweet kitchen they got there' or 'oh my god, this place is so getho they all have to sleep in the kitchen.'

It's a poor country. Most buildings have outhouses nearby. This isn't the US where every house has 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths.

Sounds like lag/desync. If s/he was jumping around to different locations, rather than 'warping' in a straight path like one would if they were running it would probably be a hacker. But again this just sounds like desync or even some animation glitch.

I'm hoping so as well. Was thinking about buying a set for myself. I'm sure they'll have support eventually (they might even have it now but I wouldn't know).

Actually it turns out that the 'Zombies' are actually Ghosts, (Poltergeists if you want to get technical, and I do like to get technical.) and work as intended. *long pause, snickering* They're working on them. If they have a fix they usually don't 'sandbag' it for an update (unless it's truly gamebreaking they wait for the Wednesday maintenance to do updates). So for now avoid those buildings, or do what most of us do, engage zombies on the street.

They already have cold weather, it's just not visible, a couple patches back people were bitching about how cold it was even fully geared. That's because the weather was set to average temperatures in December. Now they're testing warm weather. They're going to make ti so servers can set the 'month' the server is currently in and therefor the temperature.

My point was that infected animals would probably only be more aggressive, they wouldn't have their skin falling off like a classic zombie, assuming they can get the disease at all. And the 'zombie' virus is very possible, but it'd be more 28 days later or DayZ like than Walking Dead or Resident Evil. It's been theorized that something like rabies with the 'right' mutations could very well become the zombie virus. I still don't know why they went with morphine again for fixing broken legs, would have thought they'd gone with splinting solely or splinting to regain use of the limb and morphine to reduce the pain from that so you could fully use the limb. They may very well add 'zombie' animals, but more than likely an animal attacked by a zombie would be killed before it was infected unless it was something like a Wolf that ambushed a zombie.

The disease might not be transmissible across species, current guess is that it's airborne since 100% of the non immune population is infected (forget the exact numbers but its something like 95% of the population is infected, 60% of that died outright and the remaining 5% is immune to the virus). Also, 'zombies' aren't dead, merely infected.

Accelerated time is planed (as in the entire server can have 4 hours light, 4 hours darkness, or some other variation). As for when? No clue, probably when 'true' private servers are added (not just private shards)

You need to combine the maps into like segments. IE North West and South West to make a West map, or North West and North East to make a North map. Then you combine either an East and West map or a North and South map to make one large map. And yes you can fish, you need to make a fishing pole, add a hook and dig for worms for bait.

Biodiesel could be made from not only vegetable oil but also from animal fats. A large pig could provide a few gallons of biodiesel if processed correctly. There was an interesting concept done durring one of those Zombie Survival design contests where the designer made a system to 'collect' zombies to make 'Zombdiesel' from the corpses. Gasifiers would be another choice but would require more construction.

Well, unless zombies start eating metal that shouldn't be too much of a problem. You could even 'Bubba' an arc welder using jumper cables and a welding rod.

Had an idea today while heading to work. Since temperature and such is going to be important to vehicles as well as players, they should add AC/heat to vehicles, along with being able to roll windows up and down. So say if you have a fully functional car with you could warm up using the heater or cool off with the AC fans or by rolling down the windows. Say your take a couple rounds to the radiator, to make it last a bit longer before overheating you could roll down the windows and turn the heat up high (which will draw hot air from the engine). *EDIT* Wouldn't even have to be a fully functional vehicle to get either to work, as long as the engine/electrical system works and the AC/heat functions you could use a 'broken' car to warm up in when it gets cold but you'd be using fuel, even if the windows were shot out/removed it would still provide a source of heat (though not a toasty with the windows intact and rolled up)

The top heaviness of the bike does not come from the bike, it comes from the rider on the bike. Also just because one game can do something doesn't mean all games can do the same thing. Otherwise we'd already have a shit ton of fully functional cars, base building, barricading, parkour, ect. GTA has had a while to get bikes to work in thier games, and look at GTA3 onward, motorcycles did not get in until Vice City and bikes didn't get in till San Andreas. I have about 100 ideas concerning trains and how they could be added to Dayz, guess what, almost all of them have been made into a new topic at least twice (and thats not counting the horrible ideas like fully automated NPC trains that give you a warm meal, water, and a gun as well as a ride). Wrench. I've yet to see a bike that used screws for anything other than say some sort of attachment like a basket. Also this topic has been done to death, you could have simply bumped an old topic and added your 2 cents to that. The reason why two wheels are harder to do than 4+ is because of balance and physics (literally). Say you bike up a hill and go along the side, your top heavy, does the bike remain a perfect 90 degrees relative to the z axis, in which case you'll be stable but that'll cause problems, such as clipping into the terrain. Do you remain perpendicular to the ground? In that case you'll fall over and tumble because your top heavy.

Persistence is buggy atm so not all servers have it enabled. If your tents went missing then it wasn't a persistent server. If they stayed after restart but the items were gone then you ran into a bug. My guess is that since you were so close to restart the server didn't have time to save the items you put in.

Dogs and horses have been talked about as companion animals, and vehicles haven't been 'quickly' added. They've been working on them for a while now and they only now got them in in their current phase which is pretty rough IMO, still, lot of potential. Think the recent 2015 roadmap had them pegged for Q4 2015, so they might get in around this time next year if all goes well.

Eating the Zombies/Infected, yes; becoming a zombie, NO. I would say same 'nutrition' energy etc as eating human flesh with slightly more danger (higher chance of prion/diseases).

Don't recall hearing that '6 months' thing. Probably wont even be next year unless they make leaps and bounds progress wise. It's not mentioned in the recent roadmap at all though it might come out in the Beta phase or when they allow modding. Basically I wouldn't be buying a server rig just yet.

While I would like to see a black powder weapon or two added, this is just a bit ridiculous, bordering on trolling even. To say a flintlock is the end-all do-all of post apocalyptic firearms because it's slightly easier to make ammo and powder for it without power tools than it would be to manufacture say a 7.62x39 cartridge? How do you plan on finding the ingredients for powder? You gonna find an untapped surface deposit of said minerals? Power can be restored, generators can be jury rigged from different things. Fuel can be made from renewable resources. We can find a way to bounce back, zombies are only a temporary setback. But please, don't be one of those that think we can find one of these just laying around Devil's castle, when we'd be lucky if we found this,
