Buzzards flying over dead bodies.
joe_mcentire replied to amlaborde@windstream.net's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
We have buzzards in europe you know. Ukraine e.g. even has griffons and black vultures on the crimean peninsula. -
everything got mentioned at least once! maybe check out this thread please, apart from that give your thread a more informative title and use tags, so i guess this thread won't be alive quite long. i'm sorry!

this is really a main problem... rocket wants to build a game as he wants it to play, difference this time around is; success will be defined by how much they'll sell, $ yes, money, once more being the fucker $. It is actually interesting to do a "voter transition analysis" why ppl went playing / got hooked on WarZ. well you may say " thanks god, because no one'll miss these type of players in dayz" but just sayin'

Infected children in DayZ. Poll.
joe_mcentire replied to DZR_Mikhail's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have (maybe) an efficient workaround to this problem... So why do you want children ingame? For the sake of authenticity?! Yes we are infact craving for every little piece that adds up to the very whole! So what about adding "props", in fact little sceneries, like hung ppl etc., hence we introduce children which fit into believable props. (who doesn't remember the starved-to-death boy in the attic in The Walking Dead). So we add a reminiscence to children by adding them "passively". I think this could strike a balance. ..and how about adding a myth: "hey i once saw this living kid, i swear to god"! -
Third person vs First person view
joe_mcentire replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
simplest of all ideas would be to zoom in more on the char in 3rd person and simultaneously reduce the angle. You'll see what is happening beside you as well just slightly behind you AND you wouldn't be able to look over e.g. higher walls. so this comes to the closest as offered in reality. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
joe_mcentire replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I know some were already mentioned: atmospheric sceneries (which are just reappearing singularities) - in general more scenes of despair () hung people in houses or on trees. () dead bodies strapped to heavy objects () a dead couple in their car in their garage ;) () children would be possible to include here, as they "would just serve as props" (wow that sounds actually horrible :() - random burial sites on clearings or in woods. (signs of humanity) - several bus stops on the roads. (ppl travel a lot in some of "these" countries by bus) - scarecrows - rotting wildlife/bodies spawning and eventually fading out - partially destroyed power lines. - wells near modest settlements - a patch of sunflowers growing wildly atmosperhic scenes (which are on a larger scale) - mass graves with body bags - creepy playgrounds / graveyards - kindergardens - abandoned local stadiums/fairs/theatres/cinemas/stripclubs/bars/public swimming pools - WWII also took place: old bunkers e.g. - sawmills and quarries - breweries (come on BOHEMIA without beer, you kiddin'?!) & distilleries diverse map areas - rivers/ lakes/ runlets - swampy river deltas / quagmires with mists and nice sounds of toads/frogs - how about a completely burned down villages? - fields of poppies w sounds of crickets!! - ultra dense forests! please try to use all the best already existing features from all yet released maps!! for now...that's all i can think of. -
imagine the possibilites! loot in trees!!
-
now everyone calm done a bit everyone has his/her right for suggestions, i do like the idea of climbing trees for multiple purposes. why not be able to build stashes up there? Birds were even an option in "these" global polls recently. And eggs as an food resource were implemented in several games as well. So what's the commotion all about? Of course, are they necessary? this may be an other story. but everything that adds immerson and depth to the game shall have my beans! :beans:

problem i see.. why shouldn't i simply respawn rather before playing with an permanent inability? i know some of you are all in for the whole immersion-thingy but i think a huge punch of ppl wouldn#t embrace this idea i guess.

On game design, "progression through equipment", and a system of micro-skills
joe_mcentire replied to GodOfGrain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
from what i've read so far, there are also rpg-attracted guys in the dev-team and by the introduction of the Hero system, which is in fact not even subtle as a skill-mechanic, i am quite curious in which direction everything will drift. -

DayZ Feature Request Poll #3 - "The final poll"

hej you sexist pieces of .... ;) what about women characters, maybe some would like to see it growing on their char as well but for the rest? i think they do not appreciate beards as well as men. there should be a rewarding mechanism as well i guess. -

How would you deal with this problem: ? -
On game design, "progression through equipment", and a system of micro-skills
joe_mcentire replied to GodOfGrain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i like the idea and it is funny as i think if it would be introduced silently overnight ppl would love the new feel of the game. But as i can see by the very first repost, ppl tend to have this stereotypical idea of "skills" in their heads. And yes this is also affecting Rocket, when he says a higher level means superiority to lower level gamer. I simply do not like the idea of ppl solely progressing through equipment, as there is absolutely no point in this system and mostly contra-authentic. I am also not convinced in "progression" over graphical changes in form of tattoos, beards, as it feels to me more as a blunt solution for ppl that crave for progression and more value of a dayz-life. The mini-games idea as CreepySalad suggests, has exactly this very flaw as you cannot create the mother of simulations by any chance especially as i see ppl not wanting to fail it in depth and variety. -
from here: [DayZGame] ShannonZKiller - Jan 2013 - Interview/Livestream with Rocket so that's it then...leveling through gear...
