    Things that kills realism

on the other hand a limited stamina combined with the new zeds would lead to completely different gameplay; one must avoid detection at all costs which would lead to far more sneaking ingame. anticipatory, with a plan or even tactics. using binoculars far more often...etc.. i personally like the idea.
  4. haha by the way pretty nice post on reddit
  5. this way it would be far more immersive...but imagine two different types of "grabbing stuff" - rushed grabbing: point and click; you'll get the item and it is automatically stored randomly in one of your free pocket/slots. You'll have to open your backpack later manually by pressing a button to take a view. more immersive way, when rushing through buildings or in genereal areas where possible hazards may be or when being chased. - calm scavenging: manually open your backpack and you'll have it the way like in the currently envisaged inventory: the vicinity window. You see a list of all objects in your vicinity and reach(radius=Xm). nonetheless immersive, imagine you stand in front of a table sweeping it clear with one move of your hand straight into your backpack. Now you can decide edit: are these eyewear, gloves, etc. slots necessary or can you just drag and drop directly items onto the avatar? did i overread that part?
  6. keep 'em comin' :) . maybe one or two prior asked questions? any hints?
  7. @ Dean are there ideas for any props such as beehives or/and ant hills for example...or dead ppl hung from trees? props just for a very deep and frustrating gaming experience? to depict more desolation and desperation. scenes of the past rush and fear. i see you made quite some effort in doing a more authentic environment already. edit: would you see the condition of your rucksack/jeans/hoodie by the looks of the inventory..that would be neat. so you could immediately see if something is going to be kaput in a while and you would lose all your packed stuff
  8. i like the subtle changes/improvements of the second pic, trees, grass, maybe the asphalt?. i like subtle. i am the average subtle type of guy... where are the beehives in the trees? oh an anthill nearby the road? but as Rage already said. clearly it shouldn't be about the graphics. of course you should please the masses to some extent but it is the content what interests me the most.
  9. now you are shitting us!? what?
  10. it is really easy to be carried away by the hype. i think it is for us, for Dean and for the game the best to stay "unbiased" and critical at all times. everything else would turn the whole thing into a piece of garbage. or we could found a party and do campaigns.
  11. what are your next steps - loosely speaking - going to be in the following weeks?
  12. edit as self-quote: this is my darkest moment...despicable satisfying ingratiation
  13. rocket! just tell me. where do you need any stimuli? at which regions? ...i mean game-wise...of course.. blood-bag-paradox? humanity-system-horror? we could give suggestions!!! where? let me be your muse!
  14. that's some talking! from scratch meaning like.....? any tiny insights?
  15. :/ ...but i really wanted to have a quick'n'dirty Q&A thingy.... e.g. Did you even touch your medic-systems? will there be text-messages like "your forhead is hot" and if so will there possibly be then also text-messages to describe conditions also for example for repairing stuff or crafting tools?...and so on... i'm more the written info guy you know. but cool everyone's happy at the moment ;) edit: i'm not sure about the inventory... it plainly is in need of getting used to i guess, but as long as it fulfills its purpose i'm ok with it

you know what? this would be the best idea. take dean together with rhino and he then should confront dean with his blames and accusations. let's see what would happen.

    Things that kills realism

hey i see some valuable arguments in OP. Not sure if realistic or just authentic but c'mon guys!? i don't see the list as a rant. I see things that could be improved over time by either the devs ot the community in later stages. So why not just focus on the list or bring some counterarguments why those points shouldn't be improved or fixed. I personally like the list cause it raises indeed some "issues". for example: -stamina: (anti)game-wise it could be problematic not have only "limited" stamina. The world is huge. Most of the time (mod) you don't meet anyone or anything. i think it would be annoying as hell, only walking around knowing you wouldn't reach anyone/thing in next 10 min. now you have no stamina so make it 20 min. (highly exaggerated). So this point clearly depends on the given content of the SA. and this is something we actually don't know at this point in terms of "content". (how many ppl would/could really join a server? how many zeds? how many new places to discover? how many new animals?) edit: -humanity system: was most likely introduced to "inhibit" KOS-behaviour. this was maybe a time where dean thought the game, or better the ppl do no longer "behave properly", as the game was "intedended to be played". i know there are some "s here and i know ppl screaming loud ..:"wahh but its meant to be played so and so" or even "blabla ...no special plan how you should play it". the humanity system in its form cries it out loud that there "should be rules" although dean always denied it. so it was a crippled mechnism the day it was introduced but i they were "ok" with it and most likely had - up to date - really and basically no other ideas yet how to handle this problem. i guess the community could help out in this very special issue.

Houses, inspired by the origins mod.

under ground because you could make them as instances...like you enter an other map decoupled from the original map, therefore you bypass the lag-problem.

    Dogs!

what an obnoxious way trying to bring in NPCs ;)

    When is DayZ?

it is good question! cars on one hand seem to be completely perforated by rust. but the start of the infection doesn't seem to be as far in the past on the other

    sanity meter

on the other hand..a tiny burnt down village with shadow ppl, only to be seen in a blink of an eye...maybe with a proper backstory to be found on newspapers, diaries, notes in mayor'S office, notebooks, mobiles..that would be something...and this would be creepy

you mean like something as in Don't starve or amnesia? but how do you medicate such things..psychoses don't just go away.
