ok now tell us what you had in mind? what were your expectations? have you played the new game yet? Sure it doesn't drip with nice buttons and it doesn't look highly sophisticated. But in terms of survival, where you mostly don't have time to think a functional ui firstly makes more sense as at is easy to understand and to overview. You basically open your inventory by click of abutton and can see almost everything what is going on within seconds. Drag and drop; your avatar; all items as 3d model to immediately see its condition. it makes sense. And now as it is wip it is obvious ther's almost no "Pomp and Circumstances". I really don't know what you are bitching about? or is it just the fact that you feel the game should have made much more progression by now? just tell us what is annoying you, feel free to do so! -
it would require more senses and even more tactics. May i expose myself to catch a glimpse? shall i wait and listen carefully? Do i have do look more often behind my shoulder? I see both sides praising 3rd person and 1st person. all in all the "somewhat more immersive" experience is ultimately the 1st person one, exactly because of the drawbacks it has. edit: i once had an idea which would work for me perfectly: add periscopes, or at least the recipes (carton, 2x mirror). With it in your inventory 3rd person is unlocked automatically. One easier step would be to add just mirrors. by having one in your inventory you could also look behind corners or over walls. if desired you have to equip the device first to get into 3rd person mode. but i know that 3rd person fans still would be offended a bit by this idea ;) Nice and easy "workaround" to somewhat please everyone. add many broken pieces of mirrors in the world so eventually everyone could use 3rd person. But it would also be a nice gimmick. To start the game you'll be always 1st person only unless you'll find the proper pieces/devices..

you know fraggle always has the time to shine...but we all know someone has to do the dirty work ;) so beanz to you! all you unnamed unknown mods! :beans: -
on the other hand a limited stamina combined with the new zeds would lead to completely different gameplay; one must avoid detection at all costs which would lead to far more sneaking ingame. anticipatory, with a plan or even tactics. using binoculars far more often...etc.. i personally like the idea.

this way it would be far more immersive...but imagine two different types of "grabbing stuff" - rushed grabbing: point and click; you'll get the item and it is automatically stored randomly in one of your free pocket/slots. You'll have to open your backpack later manually by pressing a button to take a view. more immersive way, when rushing through buildings or in genereal areas where possible hazards may be or when being chased. - calm scavenging: manually open your backpack and you'll have it the way like in the currently envisaged inventory: the vicinity window. You see a list of all objects in your vicinity and reach(radius=Xm). nonetheless immersive, imagine you stand in front of a table sweeping it clear with one move of your hand straight into your backpack. Now you can decide edit: are these eyewear, gloves, etc. slots necessary or can you just drag and drop directly items onto the avatar? did i overread that part? -

@ Dean are there ideas for any props such as beehives or/and ant hills for example...or dead ppl hung from trees? props just for a very deep and frustrating gaming experience? to depict more desolation and desperation. scenes of the past rush and fear. i see you made quite some effort in doing a more authentic environment already. edit: would you see the condition of your rucksack/jeans/hoodie by the looks of the inventory..that would be neat. so you could immediately see if something is going to be kaput in a while and you would lose all your packed stuff -

i like the subtle changes/improvements of the second pic, trees, grass, maybe the asphalt?. i like subtle. i am the average subtle type of guy... where are the beehives in the trees? oh an anthill nearby the road? but as Rage already said. clearly it shouldn't be about the graphics. of course you should please the masses to some extent but it is the content what interests me the most. -

it is really easy to be carried away by the hype. i think it is for us, for Dean and for the game the best to stay "unbiased" and critical at all times. everything else would turn the whole thing into a piece of garbage. or we could found a party and do campaigns. -

:/ ...but i really wanted to have a quick'n'dirty Q&A thingy.... e.g. Did you even touch your medic-systems? will there be text-messages like "your forhead is hot" and if so will there possibly be then also text-messages to describe conditions also for example for repairing stuff or crafting tools?...and so on... i'm more the written info guy you know. but cool everyone's happy at the moment ;) edit: i'm not sure about the inventory... it plainly is in need of getting used to i guess, but as long as it fulfills its purpose i'm ok with it -

you know what? this would be the best idea. take dean together with rhino and he then should confront dean with his blames and accusations. let's see what would happen. -
