More Atmospheric Towns - Places with their own design and character
joe_mcentire replied to joe_mcentire's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i would like to compare it to skyrim: where you would find every x meters a tent/ a cave/ anything that provides you the next adventure, the next loot. at some point (at least i) can't see a cave anymore (although it is far far better and not comparable to oblivion). but when you have seen anything...you realize the world feels stale and soulless...well yeah maybe it is complaining on a high level.. -

that's clearly exaggerating :P. what i mean is the existing places to be filled with more quality content, more believe believability and authenticity. they are on a good way from what i've seen. you know that places where you really would stop for a moment to absorbe that atmosphere. i wouldn't need 10 more villages just for the sake of scavenging and loot, maybe all looking kinda the same. or maybe again a new airfield: we have to few of them ;) :P -
i guess when it comes to "humanity" there won't be a brilliant idea. that's really bugging me....

SA: trying to change the kill on sight mentality, *without unfair disadvantages to that or any playstyle
joe_mcentire replied to tomfacekillahhh's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i think it is for those players who don't have the opportunity to play the game on a regular basis. so i can understand both sides somehow. i was asking that very question some time ago: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/125449-how-to-handle-property-the-issue-when-being-offline/ -

how about make ranged weapons and firearms* scarce, ammo even scarcer. rely gameplay on improvised melee weapons, traps, distraction, disguise and delusion BUT then about 70% of dayz fans won't buy play the game any more....but that's my dream-game in a nutshell -

July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"
joe_mcentire replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
i followed reddit over the last couple weeks. and most of the time when rocket is participating he does it in threads where ppl complain about PR, release-dates and the definition of what is alpha, beta etc..... And i always ask myself: "We can't you just ignore at least some of them and participate more in SA relevant threads where good suggestions are made or other game relevant questions are asked.." At least when you create a post on reddit and start with "Rocket?" you will get definitely one answer (at least something), like this for example: http://redd.it/1ipu5g there you get little details on what they are working and what is going on, or what needs to be reviewed: -

[SA] husbandry: consumables with time-dependent properties
joe_mcentire replied to joe_mcentire's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
meehhh....i suppose ;). no really, i think it is not too realistic and would also be annoying i guess. Why wouldn't you just sip from the can as often as you like with swigs as huge as you want? far more intuitve and authentic imo. Your suggestion seems impractical and far more annoying as the current system. look a few post prior there is a statement from Dean where he says that even the current system is highly annoying sometimes. -
well i know they are not especially herbs but my evergreen suggestion:

your always green meadows creep me out

so NEWS FROM ROCKET on Reddit (http://redd.it/1ipu5g ): Q: Rocket? Rationing of consumables (discrete or continuous way)? Will we be able to do so? And if yes: would consumables be split into several parts (discrete way) or could you use them "over time" by adding a timer to the consuming-process (continuous way)? A: Yes, this is how it currently works. But I found it annoying on Friday when my character was very thirsty and I kept having to take swigs... so looking at additional aspects to it. ... I have an opinion on where this will go. But perhaps I'm best to keep that opinion to myself until I can qualify it with some ingame changes. Until then I'm just saying: the current split consumables is how it works but it is sometimes annoying. -

Give us full control - Darwin's Dream
joe_mcentire replied to joe_mcentire's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
indeed. i'm aware of this. but i think they have a solid basis, at least what can be seen from afar. And that' why i also wrote You could start with some and if this real turns out well. you could secretly sneak in more and more complementary properties to interact with different things in different situations. Actually it would be nice to see Rocket answering this, if the concept truely sounds feasible.. -
so we suddenly demystified his obvious nazi-background ;)
