but it also opens doors for misuse (Hammerpoint). and a game like DayZ would be therefore (strictly using the terms as per definition) at least still a year or even more be in "alpha". so with greenlight and kickstarter you cannot really use the "usual" definitions for "alpha" or "beta" anymore in my opinion.

i highly doubt anyone will wait for the full and final release. that could be in 1 1/2 years maybe. i think the actual model is necessary as many features and balancing are heavily dependent on the players and player behaviour, to create a benchmark of some sort for this game. however if they would consider a DayZ 2 some time later, they should maybe overthink such a model.

but Miffy is right to some extent. with all these Kickstarter and Greenlight games in the last years the lines seem to blur more and more. Although ppl see the games are basically unfinished/raw in the beginning they also see that many of these games more or less stay in a somewhat unfinished state. so kickstarter projects or something like the DayZ model are double-edged swords to me.

i think we can all agree that it is a bit confusing at times and dean handles information policies obviously quite differently than others. we got and still get used to it.

a friendly reminder: participating in an early alpha may, and i repeat, MAY ruin or at least alter your gaming experience very very drastically. Especially if one is desperately looking forward to a game. By the time the game reaches the level of one's own inner secret expectations it may be too late and the person may not be interested any longer in the product. so BEWARE and ask yourself Is the journey part of your destination or really only the destination your reward?

With the introduction of Utes in the SA - a new offshore island - ppl speculate whether there might be a huge, never seen before structure established. Which structures do YOU want to see ingame in the long run in the Standalone? What are your reasons for your suggestions? Any idea, where to locate them, or does it matter at all? Which PVE, which PVP possibilities would be emerging? What kind of loot would be possible and logical? Special Consumables? Could it bear a thrilling back-story with some shocking secrets and how could it be brought to the gamers? Do you think of special props to add to more depth? Do you have specific references? Keep in mind, what Rocket and his team are looking for (no artificial battle grounds; authenticity; depth; interesting for teams as well as for loner e.g.)! Please give your suggestions, as for myself I would love to here them! Which structures do YOU want to see ingame in the long run in the Standalone?a tiny village (a few buldings or just one) burnt to cinders. What are your reasons for your suggestions?a huge scenery that shows the scale of despair and horror in the "final" hours of mankind. Any idea, where to locate them, or does it matter at all?maybe a bit remote behind a forest or why not as part of a city (district) Which PVE, which PVP possibilities would be emerging?difficult, but the confusing mess with additional clutter maybe a perfect PvP location, where you could take cover effectively between ruins What kind of loot would be possible and logical? What is „The Infection“? a definition (-approach)

so assuming zed's would be the "proper" equivalent of their former human beeings, therefore you could sneak in different types of zed-behaviour: a slimmer person may be faster, bigger person may be stronger... i could also imagine that in very early stages of the infection zed's may still use tools or equipment, maybe not effiecently and not even purposefully but so that the have something in your hands that lets you say "uh oh" i mean it could make sense if you would think about a (at least "half"-) fledged life cycle for zeds. considering the outbreak was already some time ago you could say there are maybe only 5% freshly infected (more agile, faster, stronger, sharper senses)70% may show the "ordinary" zed behaviour (further stage)25% may be in the last stages of their life cycle, barely reacting, lying around, very weak, very dull senses etc.I think the first two stages could be considered for your idea. -

ahhhh horses....i don't really see them to fit into this game. they wouldn't be much more than a neat alternative to vehicles, bikes and helos and therefore maybe far too time-consuming and complex to implement. but what do i know. reference: please RDR for the love of god
