Collection of Interestin suggestion from this forum and my suggestions(only reaslistic things)
joe_mcentire replied to arvinzd's topic in Suggestions
oh my... i'd suggest you revise you post one more time. you'll understand that it is very hard and even irritating to read. so please try to bring a bit structure in there. simple is sometimes better. it also doesn't add anything if you cross-post to every thread just to show that you like the ideas. it's far more helpful to actually post in these threads. you would, at the same time, give them credit and again a more display-time. (however only post if you can actually contribute to a topic) -
Can Nothing be done about MetaGaming in Dayz?
joe_mcentire replied to yorkmorgan's topic in General Discussion
as mentioned before. the premiss of this thread should be: How can we encourage and set incentives to avoid metagaming and use ingame features? that's the poodle's core ;), the litmus test! Why would i WANT to use an ingame device/object. of course metagaming, especially in MMO's will ALWAYS have their place. so maybe let's try to focus on that a bit. -
let's raise awareness - vote up for or contribute to bug reports!

just to be sure again. loot can't be destroyed, am i right? only if it is on a player? so you can't destroy, let's say an apple by shooting at it. -

Can Nothing be done about MetaGaming in Dayz?

Abundance of radios and cell phones would be a possibility. Well at least a radio could be used as transmitter pretty easily...So if we'd assume modern cell phones have also radio functionality and it would be easy to "hack"them..many ifs and woulds... -
Can Nothing be done about MetaGaming in Dayz?
joe_mcentire replied to yorkmorgan's topic in General Discussion
just had a glorious idea. ;) Encrypt Mic-in while dayz is maximized, with only the game being able to decrypt withits ingame chat ... Or how about Register every mic input and at least play a generic "muffled sound" when not direct chat is used. -

Either way, the best thing you can do is to set incentives. How can you achieve that people want to use direct chat and also don't want to use 3rd party comms -
book + knive = secret container (ammo, guns, vodka...)

i think they just didn't quite give it a thought. kiwis (obvious easteregg), bananas and oranges don't grow in eastern europe and in comparison to the whole setting it seems the apocalypse started months ago. However with the latest patches they tried to introduce more common and reasonable fruits and veggies anyway.
-
ahhh....that doesn't mean that they shouldn't go for some sort of consistency or authenticity for that matter. it's like saying "well there can be also unicorns or drink an energy drink and run 3x so fast, because f* logic we have zombies already"
-
There is simply no consistency from the devs side. On one hand fresh fruits on the other only totally rusted vehicles...

well i would say the dot is quite useful when it comes to looting or melee. not so much with firearms/ranged weapons.

Forum Suggestion: Required posts to start a new topic
joe_mcentire replied to byrgesen's topic in Suggestions
allowed to post threads if bean count >= 1 OP's idea would kill two birds with one stone: spambots and new forum members that start the same and the same topics over and over again. after some 50-100 posts you know your way around a bit and tend to show more reason when it comes to forum rules and contributions in general. -
add tunnel vision and "the black dots" that pop up more and more in your vision when passing out.

inspect objects to perceive their quantity - subitizing of objects
joe_mcentire replied to joe_mcentire's topic in Suggestions
ot: speaking of quality - bananas marked as "rotten", well irl i basically eat them in these condition ALL the time. just because they are a bit brown... however: the idea is imo pretty simple and i think the implementation as well. would give more meaning to the "inspect" feature and you could also expand on the "inspect" feature as well: find certain immediately hidden infos by using "inspect" like the true amount of items you have.. -
really?! now i know why soe presented their game with "hej, we have 1000 players, fire and cars!" edit: the wall exploit is indeed a thing that needs to addressed asap :/

i heard two guys even had to act as a horse for motion capture

How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
joe_mcentire replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
i think they are not that slow when it comes to content. from what i've learned they already have much set in place however there is something that keeps all of that holding back: performance issues. they simply can't implement all their goods because they are still stuck in the server-client architecture thing. and this is something that needs work time testing and work and time. it's a bit bitter for us and of course unnerving but that's what they need to do, cause no-one before tried to tackle such an undertaking. maybe they should have waited again 6 months to go open-alpha and let just a smaller group test a closed alpha build to stress the evolving architecture. -
?

to put it simple: quality over quantity. i don't want to see 10 more generic villages with the same old buildings. leave the map the size it has right now, but focus on overhauling and finetuning. add more sceneric places, more unique locations and simply more to see and experience. simply quality over quantity
