there are already nice informations and when he says, it is way too much to tell every fix and feature and he doesn't even know where to start...how is there a way not to overhype?!

[for Standalone]Struggling(fight close and personal) - move-based method.
joe_mcentire replied to WiFiN's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i don't know this approach either. to be this authentic as possible it would be most certainly make sense to get down to hand to hand action. As for the "round-based" approach, i'm very sceptical about this (right now). Punching, brawling, disarming moves, would take the immersion to a whole other level. Especially as there has some melee action already been confirmed. -
Perma-identity. Nickname is permanent. Nickname as face. Cover face - conceal nickname.

holy f*... s*... i already gave my 5 votes in that poll (you know which one) and know i'm reading your suggestions and i love it! everything! Just a little input by me. Although it makes sense to cloak/disguise onself to stay concealed, it would be possible to "actively recognize" someone by pressing a button in addition. So therefore it would be 100% proof not to accidentally see a person that doesn't want to be seen. -
general question: what i'd like to know, what kind of things would be implemented almost immediately (counting in days, or maybe a week, as mentioned by Horde). There are many bright ideas of all sorts. But some seem to be only implementable under heavy efforts, meaning simply not doable under several weeks or even months of work. Would be nice if there would be sort of an ever growing summary, of generally speaking things that would not need much time to do and so maybe let ppl like me focus their ideas on "short-term" implementations ;). I imagine it as some sort of open minded suggestion of all kind of ideas. :D i really don't know if i'm able to convey my idea here haha... What i mean are things like these already mentioned things like e.g. - Increased range for sound so gunshots can be heard farther away. (config entry). as mentioned by Horde - backpacks make a sound.(as mentioned in the poll) - "ugly" grass textures as minimum option to stay hidden from wide range attacks - toning up/down night I just think there a very creative and superb ideas, but some just very difficult to implement and as SA alpha/beta is approaching in a fast pace i just thought it would be better to think, right now, on a "short-term". wel of course this is just my opinion, but maybe there are a few that maybe will think the same way... edit: well as i read this post..it feels odd to me...odd indeed..

the idea itself has potential, although realizable under massive effort i'm afraid, to me personally, what it lacks is that at some point, although you've died over and over again you know everything and your character is again and again on the same level immediately....as you've learned everything in your lives before, besides the fact that you have to regain gear. but this maybe could be resolved by rarer useable loot, weapons, ammo etc. -
one f*ckin' word.....wait for it.... MAN BEAR PIG :o

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
joe_mcentire replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
use some ideas that come with other dayz-derivatives: - surviveZ or dayZ2017 come with far less quantities of consumable/directly usable loot of all kind --> ppl use everything they get and really appreciate for example a crowbar or a bottle of water. But it has a slight motivation kill: Sometimes (and that can be long) you don't find anything, not even non-useables, so why not adding amounts of random loot, not really usable in a way and moreover unique loot: hats (ok maybe they would be usable), a good bottle of wine, a dirty old but undamaged sixpack, teddy bears, an old edition of Tolstoi's War and Peace. A can of vac-packed instant coffee. You get my idea. Some ordinary things you would most likely find in buildings. It would be nice to see, what stories would come up in forums, what ppl had to go through not to lose their treasures... - dayZ+ has a basic crafting system (which will be also implemented in the SA, at least i thought so), where you combine scrap metal and wood and therefore get a deer stand, hence introduce this as it would make sense in a way: duct tape and zip ties! -

well thank you very much...i wasn't aware of this fact. -
i don't know where the thing about sitting around came from? Why should this do anything?! Oh yeah grinding in meditation i guess :D! Ok on a very basic level, was my Gedankenexperiment earlier really that bad? (and i mean it, point out some possible flaws to me :)) By doing something you already know, you won't learn anything. So when you "sit" in your corner and read your book over and over again you would gain not more than +1 eloquenz - point. There would be little allure to grind because of the possibility to learn far more by interacting with other ppl or groups, as i explained in my Gedankenexperiment. Hence there would be again more potential in social activities. Dayz, and especially when i look further to the SA where they want far more ppl on a server, and the already "going to be" boosted number of infected, i don't really think there is much potential in beeing idle or do things repetitively for grinding's sake. There is far more to do and to see and most of all... far more to fear! I bet my juicy ass that you'll consequently be (forcefully) disrupted whilest diverse activities so you eventually forget about the learning and training things, as there is more idle time you'll eventually think about it again. I arbitrarily throw something in. How about an additional process. Introducing: The Chance of "extensive failure", which means there is a small possibility to learn/train certain things the wrong way... so they throw you back a little. as more experienced you get the lower this chance gets. Meaning heavily fuck up an engine leaving the vehicle unfixable behind. Or in hunting cutting the gall and soil all of your meat... although we were talking about something like that in the beginning i guess.

...but hopefully not due to hacks and abusive admins on private servers ;)

take away admins power to see where you or loot are in standalone.

but how do you think this would be manageable in a reasonable fashion and moreover in reasonable effort for the devs? I kinda like the idea but there are these huge signs of interrogation. It has to offer some level of depth as claimed and also huge amount of variety so that the brought in effect won't wear off in a short period of time. All these things combined together, i can't see how to work things out. Eventually you'll be able to do so but always at cost of at least one of its pillars, so we get back to a system which, as in almost every other game, wears off after some time and gets only annoying. -

so then i'll quote as this has been addressed to you before in "that" skill thread: calm down, not because someone does not agree with you means his is bashing your ideas or rates them as horsesh*t. calm down and learn how to argue rather than ...well you know what i mean. moreover there were some which partly agreed on your ideas..
