First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
HazZarD87 replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You miss the central point by miles. 2013 still isn't virtual reality. It's still a monitor with all the limitations that holds. 3rd person fixes that in part. Ofcourse nothing is going to make the 1st person elitist types who use it "because its hard!!" think a bit and understand. -
First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
HazZarD87 replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's not actually, the same reason it has crosshairs. As they allready stated back in the day with flashpoint, an FPS cannot even remotely approach the situational awareness and overall 'feel' for your surroundings that you have IRL. For instance: at 30m with an AR15 type weapon it is piss easy to just point and shoot without even looking over the sights, you might not hit every shots but pop off 3 and you're bound to hit the target, since you've got a feel for where you are pointing. The crosshairs mimic that feel that the monitor takes away from you. The same goes for the dots that we used to have and 3rd person. The only reason I support the dots being removed is because you could see them trough things for some reason, it never worked properly but the idea is sound. As for 3rdP letting me peak around corners and such.. well duh. Irl I'd be able to peep trough a fence crack the size of a keyhole and observe stuff. You could slightly raise your head up to look over something... and not be forced to kneel and expose lots more of yourself. Simply put, these things that might seem 'gamey' are there to compensate for the real life senses that a monitor takes away from you. -
Why would there be a difference? I can imagine the journal being damaged by gunfire for instance. But make it a % chance depending on the zone hit. Not an absolute certainty.

Bandit code and WTF is KoS meaning?
HazZarD87 replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Quoted for Truth!! The KoS discussion is void and invalid. If it is what people choose to do then there is fuck-all anyone can do about it. Adapt or die. As dayz was intended. -
Bandit code and WTF is KoS meaning?

Don't feed the troll -
The US and other militaries were there in force to intervene in the ongoing civil war. The amount of guns makes perfect sense from that storyline.

Satchel charges - stay or go?

Let's take it out since hackers use it... yeah let's just remove guns while we're at it cause I've seen hackers use those a darn lot xD -
Most of the suggestions for reducing KoS
HazZarD87 replied to Antjenks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
KoS is not an issue. If you perceive it to be it's your problem. The discussion is pointless since rocket allready pointed out over a year ago that nothing will be done about the decisions players make. If people want to shoot anything that moves then that's how it's going to be. Time to nut up or shut up. -
The scope is held on by rubber bands? Yeah that'll work :P
-
It probably does more damage than it fixes. First thing they teach you in civil or military first aid: if something is sticking out.. LEAVE IT IN!! :P Dress the wound around it as best you can and leave it alone untill it can be properly removed and taken care of.

That reminds me of "the fatal T" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEghICs5oqw 08:00 That minute gives you the fatal T but the rest is really worth watching aswell :)

The more of this they can implement the better. It goes towards balancing gun damage to. It's not uncommon for a 5.56mm round to not kill you.. but you're defenitly not running around and shooting back if it hits the right spot. I will follow this thread with keen interest! Anything I'd have to say on this has allready been mentioned so I won't bore you with regurgitating :P

It's based on a military sim. Weapons should be as weapons are IRL. The DMR is simply a scoped battle rifle with a match grade barrel. It's recoil is fine. Only someone who gets their stance wrong would experience more then we see in game.

Most of the suggestions for reducing KoS
HazZarD87 replied to Antjenks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The QQ threads about KoS are irrelevant because of the very core of what dayz is. Rocket allready stated over a year back: the game is what the players make it.. do not look to him for balance because you won't get it. KoS is what most people consider the safe option and thus it will be mostly the norm. No amount of crying or threads is going to change anything about that. -
Overpowered cause they hit hard and are thus effective in 1 of a crapload of different scenarios? Yeah I guess all the guys me and my squad dropped cause they were toting a .50 while we had carbines and assault rifles really felt its overpoweredness.
-
It's not a question of "overpowered" or not. That's a term for battlefield or CoD. If it's a 7.62mm rifle with a match grade barrel then you can bet your lucky stars that a hit will properly mess you up. That's not overpowered, that's how it is. The last thing dayz needs is cod style damage where people keep on going strong even with several crippling gunshot wounds allready in them.

Most of the suggestions for reducing KoS
HazZarD87 replied to Antjenks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Simple yet true: KoS/PvP are what the players make it to be. There is no 'solution' there is no 'problem' it is what it is and you're going to have to deal with it. Stop the QQ or play something else. -
If one player kill me I will make a leave for this website.

Not sure if troll or mental disease... either way not worthy of any serious reply. But since the admins are.. *comes wobbeling in with a fuckton of popcorn* -
"Brutal" done trough breaking mechanics and just making it unfair is not brutal, it's silly. Hard or "brutal" is where there is a lot thrown at you but you can pull it off if you play your cards right.. only to be shot by some other survivor a bit later. Right now however ppl are getting whacked by broken game mechanics they can do f-all about. The busy 50 man vanilla servs I used to play on (for whitelist purposes) are no on 0 player count across the board. Luckily dayzero came along.
-
Once? Let's say it's been on such a scale that I do not rely on the 1% chance that someone won't shoot me in the face right away. I work with ppl all the time since I always play in a group of 2-4 ppl. Anyone who doesn't belong to that group gets a bullet when the oppurtunity presents itself. I wouldn't mind it being different, I started out on DayZ with the idea of just shooting other ppl if they had a bandit skin. However you cannot change how people choose to play. If the majority just shoots anything that so much as draws breath then that is just what people will have to accept in game. They may not like it, it may even not be what rocket had in mind when he designed the whole thing.. but it is what it is and if any game mechanic so much as slightly tries and change that it betrays what dayz is.
-
"The problem"? What problem? All I've noticed is ppl seem to be butthurt by pvp. That's not A problem it's THEIR problem. The definition of a sandbox game just won't penetrate the thick skulls of PvE loving extremists on these boards. It shouldn't force you in any direction in any way whatsoever.
-
It's a freaking videogame. Ppl will be more immeassurably more reckless than irl since you can respawn anyway. It's simply how it is. Anything along the lines of a spawning in time penalty will just result in the game committing suicide. You'd be left with like a 6 man community of no-lifers.
-
Just have a crack at dayzero if you're done with the current build/infection thing being broken as hell. It blows the mod out of the water. Redoing buildings so you can enter them and have loot spawn in em properly not doable? Well dayzero sure shows the devs :P they has it
-
This!^ If you conceive the KoS mentality as 'a' problem you are dead wrong in a sandbox game. If it annoys you it is "your" problem. Zombies coming out of nowhere to charge people who fire a gun at someone to punish them for fireing said gun? Bullshit, you might aswell do away with guns alltogether then. A guy with a gun that gets the drop on you will always have you at a severe disadvantage, unless he is a lousy shot. Besides take the guns out and ppl will just swing axes at one another :P To stay in zombie terms: nut up or shut up. Edit: on the matter of needing other players. You won't be killed on sight less, you will get groups of friends who work together and kill anyone who they don't know on sight. Nothing new there.
-
Every videogame will have a kill on sight mentality. You don't have to fear for your life since you will respawn anyway.. so if the guy robs you off your stuff.. why not take a swing at him? And putting mechanics in place to try and change the KoS mechanic only messes up what DayZ is. Like trying to put focus on surviving zombies by making the ridicilous like the current mod build. It in fact only encourages pvp since it's much easier to just take your stuff from a guy you've shot with that lee enfield you found in some barn. Consequence of them trying anyway is that DayZero now actually blows the original mod straight out of the water.. If only those guys had been give custody over the mod *drool*
