True but it could be a really small area. Not to mention that if it is really just a town in the middle with walls to keep out the undead, whoever held control of it could run it, and thus trade, however they wanted. Also, you don't have to make it invincibility inside the fort, just a place that is a little safer than the other surrounding areas.

    Make Players Unique

All levels might be a bit of a deterrent to further playing after a high-level character dies, but it would be realistic. That could be something decided server-side. I like that... armor? sewing kit? restriction of movement? all fun ideas. I love it. Beans to you, sir!

    Treasure and Money

I agree with this whole-heartedly, tbh. I missed this discussion. Paper money would be worthless, in my opinion, just because it is degradable and it is just paper. That could make it valuable as a heat source but as a game goes, it needs to be something that is drained out fairly regularly to facilitate a circulation. When the society has a lot of this currency, trading might happen more often. But as I use more nails, nuts and bolts to build structures, our money supplies dwindle and this maintains a need to continue going out and scavenging like a nut. I really like the idea of each group or society having its own form of currency and all that and it would make a sort of exchange rate. But ultimately, I feel like it would be good if the standalone ended up having some kind of system in place to subtly guide or just facilitate this sort of system. Rather than people just winging it themselves, it would be nice to be able to go somewhere to make solid trades and find out what people want for what items. A sort of make-shift economy could arise out of that. The sort you might expect to find in a real post-apocalyptic scenario.
  4. I like the idea for the blocking of doors and setting up of makeshift defenses like this. If you could scavenge for nails and screws, they could be used as a form of currency. Granted, you have to consider that using a hammer at all would likely attract all the nearby zombies, and if players hear it, well, they know someone has enough of something that they want to set up defenses to guard it. So you are a target. I LOVE the idea of melee attacks, and I think that some simple melee weapons - shovels, hammers, axes and hatchets - would definitely be a very good idea. Also, the small-level crafting is a great idea. Again, this could be used to set up a sort of economy for the game. I think that would really complete this game. O right, and if there is a building in game, we should be able to enter it... agreed?

    DayZ Standalone: Ideas for bases

I like the ideas on the simple locks and the traps and stuff. You should also be able to arrange simple junk and furniture to make that stuff more useful. For instance, if a group of people could find a way to move some decommissioned trucks to form a wall, move some furniture to block all the entrances in a building but one, and you have something of a zombie funnel. Simple ideas like this. Take what is in the environment and turn it into something that is unique that allows the players to take command, to an extent, of their own environment.

    Make Players Unique

I like this. Add in a little mechanic that will undo, say, a level every time you die? Seems a bit much, but this could be a server preference thing. It would definitely add another dimension to making the game a little harder on tougher servers. A side thing I wanted to add in here... Sounds stupid, but can I please be allowed to control how my character looks, please? Why? Well, what if I want to have a certain look if my friends and I are a certain clan? Perhaps we want to get a certain camoflage to blend in better? Maybe it is freezing as hell at night and this little shirt/vest combo is not doing it to keep the biting cold of the sub-russian region out? Just some thoughts.

    Treasure and Money

This idea would go in tandem with my idea for some kind of player economy and a potential neutral zone for transactions to securely go down. This would be some kind of a money system. It could either be as unofficial as bartering without a neutral zone or as complex as an in-game item that can be looted and used as a means for trade and has some kind of destructible purpose. Food and drinks are too uncommon to use as a form of money and things like cans have no purpose and thus are indestructible with no real ... sink to drain out excess funds. Bullets are a viable candidate but they are a little too necessary, like food. Something like bolts and screws that could be used for mechanical or car mods, or scrap parts for guns that might be used to maintain guns ( if a deterioration mechanic were introduced ). It would have to be something viable, though. And it would have to be believable for the setting. People are not going to just start using paper money again if no one is printing it and noone is backing it as a viable currency.

Oooo! Interesting! I also think there should be a small neutral zone about the size of like 3 - 5 buildings where players can go to exchange goods. This way you can get what you need and have more player exchange. Granted just outside that spot for miles would be heavily watched by bandits, but it would be worth it to have an in-game economy of sorts.

The sounds of dayz need serious work

I would say that the most lacking thing in this game as far as sound are the obnoxious whale noises that you hear when you are walking around that function as the ambiance. I just end up silencing music because of it. I would just remove any "music" at all. Unless you get a radio, but that would be stupid to turn on, even if it did emit music... especially if it did so...

    Base Construction

I was playing DayZ with my brother for a few days and the only thing I feel this is missing is base construction. Nothing too elaborate, simple tents would do, but a place you can set up with a group of people to have more safety and LOS blocking etc. It would be awesome if we could set up hard structures in the game but that would be a little elaborate and involved. Basically it would be nice to have something like a "base of operations" that you can go to, set up some caches and mark them for your group. Something that would give you and your friends a little bit of an edge.
