Have you loaded Arma2 once and Arma2 OA once BEFORE trying to get dayz working? Not sure thats your issue.

Stop whining drgonzo. Some people might have already bought the Arma 2 and only needed OA. So yeah. Legitimate reasons to sell both seperate and as a bundle. Dont blame them for your mistakes. If you are getting annoyed that the game hasnt been released yet then boo hoo. -

Far as Im aware (and im not very up to date or knowledgable about Dayz's release information) its going to be a steam release. It cuts costs that way. -
Buying a new version of the game may or may not work. It depends if you got battleye banned. They sometimes ban your IP and so getting a new version of the game will just mean you waste your money. You could potentionally be unable to play Dayz Mod ever again at your home unless you get your ISP to reset your IP or something. I know its likely your "Friend" doesnt exist. But still. In case he does that is my 2 cents.

Go into a barracks with an AK and shoot 1 bullet. Prepare to go through every mag you have and have to resort to axe to man combat.

I have no problem with exploding "zombies". As long as the explosions are caused with HE rounds, explosive arrowheads and other explosive weapons that have somehow found their way from my character to the "zombies" innards. Otherwise, no thanks. This is dayz. They arnt even zombies. They are infected. Big difference.

The zeds can detect the difference between humans and infected even at night in pitch black conditions. So something is up with their methods of detection. Perhaps scent detection does play a role in if they consider you food or not. Regardless of how they detect, it should be easy to just have a "pretend zombie walk" which they wont agro to :P But this just leaves you open to people shooting you while you walk through the zombies, leading you to have to run to avoid enemy fire, leading to the zombies going all "AHA HE IS CHEATING! GET HIM!".

I have no problem with bloodsuckers in theory. Just the fact they are invisible is just retarded and immersion breaking. Have "Namalsk: Stalker" for bloodsucker maps and "Namalsk" for regular non-bloodsucker. I really like the Namalsk map yet I find most people avoid it like the plague due to said bloodsuckers.

I think it would be cool if there were dayz based scenarios set during the start of the outbreak that could either be SP or MP. Apart from lore I would keep it compeltely seperate from the existing Dayz games though. -
Eat food. Either cooked or tinned. You need a hatchet, matches and any weapon. Step 1. Kill Cow, Goat, Rabbit, Pig by any method you wish. I prefer to crash helicopters into them but its sometimes hard to find the body. Step 2. Gut them with a hunting knife. Step 3. Get some wood from a tree by using a hatchet. Step 4. right click the matches to set a fireplace. Step 5. scroll wheel to light the fire. Step 6. Scroll wheel to cook the food in your inventory. Step 7. Eat. Different foods give different blood values back to you. You might want to check the wiki or something for the best foods to eat. Alternatively you can just have someone else use a blood bag on you.

Put a primed grenade under the body of a dead guy. If you turn him over to examine his stuff then the nade goes boom. That'd be a neat booby trap...

Installing old patch to play on un-updated servers

Open Dayz Commander. Go to install/update on the top menu. Click where it says Dayz in the Mod's catagory and change the version to the one you want. When you have picked the version you want click install. Wait for it to update and then go play. If you dont use Dayz commander... -
My problem with FPS for regular gameplay is that the movement of the character looks really clunky. If they improved FPS mode so it looked a lot more responsive then I wouldnt mind using it the whole time. (That or lock my character to either FPS or 3RD person mode and have it so that I have to go into menus to change it or something)

I think food and drink drains too fast after the update. Needs slowing by around 50% if you ask me. Not sure if then speed even changed tbh.. but it just seems like it drains faster. -
Dayz isnt a PVP game. Its a survival game with PVP as an element.

So you are asking for the hearing mechanic to be turned to an "always on" setting, where instead of it being hearing based it would be a new guage of scent. Your scent being determined by the stuff you have touched and are currently holding... Id rather they augment the parachute wind physics to involve this scent mechanic and have it so you have to be downwind of zombies or they will be drawn to you from up to a 10 meter radius. Not too sure I like the whole small circle around a player thats filled with stink. Id rather have it done right or not done at all.
