Best Place To Hide Your Base In DayZ
Talibambi replied to COMMANDERPIXELonYT's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Telling people where the "best spots" are is kinda silly. What you should do is say where NOT to put a camp. My first and last clan in dayz were adamant about setting up camps in places that were marked on maps. Like abandoned castles.. because they were "easy to defend". Sure they are. If you have people on to defend it. Otherwise its like an all you can grab buffet. IMO: (and Im prolly completely wrong) 1. The best places to put camps are places you dont tell anyone about. 2. Ideally you would have decoy camps scattered around your actual main camp where you put trash loot or stuff you dont mind to lose. Hopefully people would grab something and run away, not even noticing your main camps hidden in some trees or wheverer you have it. 3. Never put your camp down where it is listed on the map. This is especially important for small locations like Green Mountain. People WILL come and check the map markers either to sight see or to see if idiots have put camps down there. 4. Seperate your vehicles and tents. Having all your vehicles and tents clustered together just increases the profile of your camp from the air, or from the ground. 5. DEFINITELY seperate your camoflaged vehicles from your colored vehicles. 1 bus. 2 blue Vans and a white GAZ parked next to a camoflaged UAZ = lolz Really you have to decide what kinda camp you want to set up. Something you can "defend" where you park vehicles next to each other or an in-game structure or town. Or do you want to be more stealty and not have all your eggs in 1 basket somewhere in the wilderness. Its your call. As I said these are just a few things off the top of my head and could be completely wrong. They just seem "right" to me. -
As well as shooting guns out of hands, Id like some non-lethal weaponry.. so I wouldnt really need to worry about the weapon they were carrying unless I got careless. Tasers: Some with projectile barbs and others without. Causes target to be stunned for a bit. Repeated stuns can cause health issues such as reduced running speed and whatnot. Ultimately, death. You could have death be more likely if you have health related issues due to a poor diet of sugary foods. Tranquiliser guns: Shoot an animal or person and eat the meat raw could cause some issues). Knocks out the target for a while. Pepper spray: Target drops his weapon and vision is impaired for a while. Tear Gas: Can be thrown or set off by traps. Target's vision impaired. There is a tonne of stuff that can be done with minimal work compared to implimenting mechanics such as survivor communities and stuff which can help reduce PVP. Just throwing out ideas!

Players should develop Mental illness
Talibambi replied to TacticalTuna's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No. "Mental illnesses" and the like are destructive to what dayz is meant to be. The PLAYER is the one who aims poorly. The PLAYER is the one who loses sleep over things they have done. The PLAYER is the one who can either kill 1000+ people and say "whatever bruv" or kills 1 and feels guilty for mins/hours/days/weeks/years. Punishing a player for playing the way he enjoys is a bad idea. What needs to be done is give players who work together benifits, while at the same time making it harder for people who play solo to survive. As it stands people can be douchbags, not because they need your supplies, but because supplies are so easy to obtain that they might as well just fool around. Dayz is too easy. The bandits have nothing better to do. I really dont mind being killed by a bandit, as long as he genuinely needs my beans to survive. Unfortunately this is NEVER the case. The abundance of resources in dayz is hilariously broken. -
Maps or countries you would like to play in
Talibambi replied to ThaFatBuddha's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Certain police units are issued firearms. http://en.wikipedia...._United_Kingdom Firearms issued to Authorised Firearms Officers include: Glock 17 pistol (used by various forces, including London's Metropolitan Police)[2] Walther P99 pistol (used by Nottinghamshire Police) SIG Sauer P226 pistol (Used by Northamptonshire police) Heckler & Koch MP5SF(used by various forces, including London's Metropolitan Police)[3] Heckler & Koch G36 variants[4] LMT-Defender AR-15 variant(used By Cheshire Police and British Transport Police)[5] Heckler & Koch G3 variant(used for sniping roles)[6] Remington 870 Shotgun (used by Manchester Police)[7] Fairly certain that some shotguns and AK's are owned in the area where I live.. no idea WHO, but I live near manchester. So its fairly safe to suggest that there are some illegal weapons scattered around. While guns are indeed illegal here, I'd bet that in a zombie apocalypse there would prolly be guns in certain areas that have either been dropped by people running/killed/turned into zombies/etc. (though most likely we would just have to resort to melee weapons like my dad's samurai sword) We dont have firearms amnesty by the police authority every few years for nothing. Id say that guns and melee weapons would still fit in a dayz scenario in any major city in england. Though perhaps an england version would be more suited to a place like the Catterick Garrison. http://en.wikipedia....terick_Garrison Im fairly sure that this same logic can be applied to any country in the world really. I personally would welcome a dayz in england because it would mean lower firearm spawn rates accross the board. Firearms are way too easy to aquire in the mod currently. -
Mature but not too mature lol

I need help fast! I don't get the save tent option on scrolling!
Talibambi replied to BrassGorilla's topic in New Player Discussion
I thought the option to save tents was re-added due to some servers having issues? -
DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !
Talibambi replied to willey.erd@oundleschool.org.uk's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
The mod allows diversity. Not to mention that not everyone will get the standalone. The mod satisfies everyone in the long run. Those who wish to upgrade may do so. Those who wish to continue playing what they have are able to do so. I just hope that a date for release isnt given. I just wanna log on one day and read "GET ON STEAM NAO!" -

Talibambi replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I shouldnt be able to go to a city. Grab EVERYTHING I need in 1 trip and then head up north to get my "end game gear" in the space of a few hours. Its ridiculous as it stands. The spawn rates make it "easy mode". Hell the only version I find of the mod that is even difficult is Dayz2017 -
You should be able to change your name.. but not your face.. that said.. I think that the standalone should have Mass Effect levels of face customisation

A 3d model is made of "faces". These faces can be numerous shapes. The "faces" of these shapes are what you texture. To save on processing or some such, only one side of the face is actually textured. A flipped normal is where the face is pointing the wrong direction. Thus your texture is on the inside of the model you are making instead of the outside. Viewing the face from the wrong direction will leave it looking transparent since the other side of the face is the thing thats actually textured. Im sure you can google a better explanation than the one I just gave you. Or just learn some 3D modeling by using a program like Blender. Sorry if this has already been replied to. -

Have it near kamenka. Maybe then people will quit complaining about spawning in that general vicinity. -
I think the Standalone will be fantastic, no matter what the other threads say.
Talibambi replied to DayzForumer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I want the game to be brutal. I want bandits to rob people out of necessity rather than because they are douchebags. I want Dayz2017 levels of item spawnage. -

Small Group Looking for 1-2 More players.
Talibambi replied to Ant123's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Well regarding time zones, its possible that (hypothetically) Im from the UK, but I can only play from 9AM to 5pm on weekdays. Whereas you expect people on from 5pm to 10pm weekdays. So country doesnt matter. What you should specify is the time (in GMT) that people would need to be in game (and a max ping you would accept), on a regular basis. So lets say 5PM GMT - 10PM GMT would work well for someone who plays 11AM - 4PM CST before having to work the night shift or some such. You also might want to state whether you are a bandit group or not (and perhaps your groups rules of engagement). Just saying. Hope it helps. (This may help the number of people interested in your group rise by around 90% from what the original interest may be) PS. Did you know that 62.54% of numbers are made up on the spot? -
I figure that the weapons would have already been taken out by the guards cept. But I must stress my opinion again that I am against designated spawn points for weapons. Survivors go everywhere and die everywhere, thus it makes sense to find DMR's in petrol stations and barns etc. Weapon spawns should be completely random through the entire maps spawn points. The only thing people should fight over is territory. Creating choke points for equipment means that many places dont see any traffic.

Distributed Computing VS Computer Networks

http://lmgtfy.com/?q...buted computing http://lmgtfy.com/?q=computer+network Happy to be of help. -
I saw a custom map someone was making that took about 30 mins to fly over end-to-end. (or something crazy like that). Not sure where you can find information on this though...
-
I think it would be neat to have an area that you could fence off (the prison) that was only accessable via helicopter or plane. (or explosives). Would allow the more dominant clans to have some place to fight over, survivors some place to defend against bandit attacks or a bandit hideout.

How would you feel about the ability to pack any tent?
Talibambi replied to dayz247's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You should be able to take peoples tents. Hell you would finally be able to move your OWN tents since you cant move them around when you die. This would actually be a great thing since tents value would drop significantly since it would mean there would be more in "circulation" as it were. I mean its not like you want to keep using a tent after its location has been discovered. Most time people just pack up what they can and leave anyhow. So I feel there would be no loss in losing a tent and its contents from someone else taking it. Why this isnt in the game already though?.. who knows.
