    Small Arms Fire from Vehicles

This has most likely been suggested already, but could there/will there be vehicular combat in the standalone? By this I mean being able to shoot a pistol out from your car, for example. Chasing a player and being able to shoot at their car would be much better and more realistic than driving around cities for 20 minutes until one person runs out of fuel.

What do you guys consider an acceptable ping?

<150 Although "acceptable" changes depending on what game I'm playing. It doesn't matter if you have a ping of 200 in DayZ, however if you got this in Counter Strike, for example, it would be unplayable.
  3. I just started playing as a bandit, mostly because I found that it's a rewarding, albeit dangerous profession. I once found a guy taking refuge in a hangar who was in desperate need of a blood transfusion. I gave one to him. He asked me if he could give me anything in return for the bloodbag. I took a look at the MP5 SD he was holding and the cold-hearted side of my conscience forced me to kill him with my axe and take it from him. Needless to say, I felt pretty evil after that. Then, as I am leaving the hangar, I notice that he is still alive and he pulls out a revolver. I look at him as I hear the click that signals his ammo is depleted. He tries to stand but is stopped by his broken leg and he is bleeding heavily. I slowly raise my newly acquired MP5. The gunshots heard next began my life of banditry. Tell your story or justify your reason as to why you began the life of the cold-blooded ruthless killer that is the bandit.

    Your Dayz Hometown?

Grishino. It's a short run to the NWAF and there's plenty of good loot in the town or nearby, as well as forest cover from all sides. Also where a lot of people hide their vehicles.

    A Tale of Banditry

    Why thank you, kind sir.

    A Tale of Banditry

Gather round, fellow survivors and listen to my tale of banditry. I do not normally play as a bandit, so I had surprisingly good luck when deciding to do so for the first time. It began when me and a friend were raiding the North-West airfield, and we realised that we were becoming hungry and thirsty fast. So, after each finding various AKs, we headed east and soon found ourselves in the town of Grishino. However, running back up the hill to the forest, our backpacks crammed with food and drink, we heard the sound of a beeping horn and, moments later, we saw an approaching UAZ coming up the dirt track beside us. We took cover in the nearby woodland. We decided to ambush the car without damaging it, so we could take it, as it was a rare occurrence for us to find vehicles, never mind fully repaired. So, we attempted to take out the driver as he drove past. As he did, I missed the first shot and managed to damage a wheel. This did not matter too much as we had previously looted a wheel and were carrying it for this precise reason. The car was still mobile, however, and had driven a fair distance away from us. Just as we gave up hope of looking for it, side chat revealed that the driver had to stop to repair at a nearby deerstand, as he queried his friends on the server in hope that one of them may have been carrying a toolbox. Luckily, I had a toolbox with me, and I told him. I explained to him that I had just managed to escape the "two bandits who I saw shooting at your car". Accepting my offer to repair his car back at Grishino, he parked up outside the church and told me to meet him there. My friend and I knew this seemed like a trap, however we were careful. I holstered my AK-47 and moved over to where he was. I said hello and tried to seem like a friendly player. What I didn't yet know was that he had a sniper friend on a hill. What he didn't know was that I was repairing the car for my own use. His ally sniper covering him had obviously let his guard down, thinking I wasn't a threat. I said goodbye and good luck before riddling his face with Makarov rounds and jumping in the car. Hastily, I pulled the car around and turned it towards the eastern-leading road, when suddenly, I hear a DMR shot ringing from the hill to the west. At this point, I am shouting at my friend to get in the car, with him not expecting me to have stolen it. He ran up to the car and jumped into the passenger seat. I pressed down the W key as hard as I could and accelerated away, with DMR rounds pinging on the road behind me. An average bandit story, but pretty cool nonetheless.

Hacker Report: Spawning in Items on UK 355

Sorry I removed it, it was posted for a while and I figured that there wasn't much point in leaving it here.
  9. Hello, I was recently playing on the DayZ server "UK 355" while recording for a let's play. This was bad news for one hacker who was caught in my recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzBXLKJ2ntc Please feel free to ask questions regarding the game at the time I found him. This was recorded on "UK 355" at approximately 17:50 GMT. I had been playing for 20 minutes and 29 seconds exactly. Thank you.

How to get the bandit skin

That Bambi was unarmed! You had absolutely no reason to kill him. People who kill unarmed players for whatever reason are cowards.

Should you Buy Arma II for DayZ, or wait?

I hardly come across hackers any more. Yes, it is definitely worth buying the game now. DayZ is a very entertaining game that will keep you playing it right up until the standalone comes out. Also it means you will have the general concept of the game (although I don't know if any different gameplay features are being implemented into standalone).

    Help a noob out!

I generally wouldn't even approach them. If they are hostile you may have to kill them. If you do, you get the bandit skin and nobody will trust you from that point on. Always try and reach an advantageous position before knocking them out, looting their bag and gear and leaving.

Don't trust anyone and generally try to avoid other players.

What To Do When You See A Player

Never kill another player on sight unless you absolutely have to. Gain an advantageous position from which you can find out whether the player is a threat. If they are using a high powered rifle (the DMR for example) then the safest thing to do would be to knock them out and loot them. If you kill players and gain the bandit skin, nobody will trust you and will more than likely kill you on sight.
