An important message to server admins in DayZMod / Origins / etc.
nik21 replied to gummy52's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I don't think so. Just because a lot of people are viewing a thread in some forum doesen't that mean that those people are actually using this stuff (Maphack not ESP). A minority of the people viewing this forums/ thread have an idea how to actually create something like this. -
ATTENTION: This is for people who have been banned falsely! Hackers Need Not Apply!
nik21 replied to VigilanteRonin's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I wasn't commenting on the part with getting a new Key from BI, I was pointing out that those are not "false" bans and that they do not get lifted for obvious reasons. Again, people are not banned due to having their CD-Key stolen - GUIDs are banned due to Cheaters using them. By unbanning the GUID of the person who got his CD-Key stolen, you are also unbanning the Key for every cheater that has access to it. Also, it doesen't matter if BattlEye, PunkBuster, GGC/ PBBans or VAC - Second chances are not given, nowhere, ever. -

If someone gets their CD-Key stolen and ends up banned due to it - it's their own fault. Those bans are not "false" nor do they get lifted - if BE detects a GUID cheating, it will be banned, REGARDLESS who used it. It seems you fail to realize how the system works - BE is not banning an actual player, it is banning the violating GUIDs. Anything else wouldn't make sense - a CD-Key banned for cheating is in the hands of a cheater, even if the "rightful" owner is not a cheater. Unbanning it would also unban this GUID for the cheater and anyone else having access to the key - which can be serveral people (yes, mostly cheaters) after the key got stolen. -
[SA] Hacks, Exploits, and Cheat PREVENTION IDEAS HERE

Don't take it like that, it was well-meant :) - just busting some myths. -
[SA] Hacks, Exploits, and Cheat PREVENTION IDEAS HERE
nik21 replied to a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
1. You can't just scan the entire game directory all the time as it would consume way too much resources (HDD read, CPU and the server that has to check it); 2. Most of the modern hacks do not touch the games' files at all, they modify it's memory, read/ write from it and/ or run completely external. It's quite obvious that most types of hacks (scripting etc.) present in the mod will not be present in the SA due to the new Server-Client Architecture. However, the actual numbers of cheaters will most likely not decrease than rather increase compared to the mod. The SA will have more players than the mod, it will be very popular after all (probably as popular as any new AAA Title) and therefore there will be lots of cheaters (at least when they stick to VAC only); they will just use different types of hacks, not scripts, but things like ESP, Aimbots, Maphacks, even when they're limited in their use. They can not fix these types of cheats by themselves, they have to rely on anti-cheat software to detect it. This being VAC only at the moment, things might become bad as it is known to have low detection rates on private hacks and still takes very long to react to public hacks (see MW2/ MW3, Homefront, CS) in comparison to BattlEye which is superior to VAC in terms of detection rates and reaction time in any way. And no, BattlEye can not only detect scripts and stuff related to scripts - this is only an addition of it for the Arma series - it detects all kinds of hacks very frequently and fast. -
Kicked by Battleye for Corrupted Memory #51
nik21 replied to ThelMightylThor's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Do you have the game via steam? If so, try to verify the files. http://www.battleye.com/support.html Corrupted Memory #X: BattlEye detects that your game's memory is not what it is supposed to be. Scan your system for viruses/trojans/spyware and check your RAM for possible defects (using tools like Memtest86). If that doesn't help, the game's installation on your harddisk is possibly corrupted - therefore, try to reinstall the game.- 1 reply

Totally depends on the CPU model. You can't compare CPU gaming performance by the clock speed or the number of cores.

Repeatedly kicked for 'Addcargoweapon' after a long absence.
nik21 replied to homercleese's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
That's bs, his only problem is that he is carrying a weapon that is no longer present in the mod and therefore being kicked for. -
Want to play again. Servers and FPS issues. Help appreciated :)
nik21 replied to andrewmont's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Remove the startup parameter nonsense, Arma itself detects your hardware properly. Many people just make it worse with this kinda stuff, thingking it would be "optimisation". maxmen is limited to 2047, changing it's value has no or negative effects. VRAM is detected by the engine each start automaticly (should be at "default" in options). cpuCount - this only limits the CPU Core the game uses, your processor has 4 logical threads, why limit it? Again, changing it has no or negative effects. Same goes for exThreads. Apart from playing with your in-game settings, there's not much you can do, expect for finding a good, clean server with prefferably low player count (as well as low vehicle count). -
What's the exact kick message? In case of Restriction #X, Re-Installing won't fix anything.

Kicked for Wrong Signature File - The Saga Continues
nik21 replied to Calanen's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Make sure you only have the mods/ expansions for BP Vanilla enabled (you can check this in the Main Menu under "Expansions"). Also make sure that your Arma 2 OA Directory is cleaned up... Fyi, the signature has nothing to do with BattlEye. If the server kicks everyone or a lot of people with the same error, it is possible that it's a problem on the server's end which can not be fixed on your side. -
Nope, the #0 kick for an incorrect version refers to the scripts.txt (Script Restriction) while this is a SetPos Restriction.
-
You can not judge that unless you know which exact CPU model the TO has.

Being asked for CD-key from [email protected]!!??!!
nik21 replied to KoKi?S's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Well, they won't just give you the download link without verifying that your copy is legit. -
Can you immediately restart your PC after it shut down or do you have to wait until it starts again?
-
Does that only happen on one server? Have you tried other servers? Make sure they are fully up to date (1.7.7.1 + latest BE Server Filters).
-
More competent than you will ever be.

Battleye Script Restrictions...numerous
nik21 replied to GingerMammoth's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You need to update the BE server filters located here: https://github.com/DayZMod/Battleye-Filters/ -
That means that your Video card has 512 MB VRAM while at least 896 MB are recommended.
-
No, he is carrying an "illegal" weapon.
-
Yea, and what you thought was false. :P
-
That's false. The DayZ Staff chose to use VAC and not BattlEye... for whatever reason. I hope they add BE later though, otherwise the SA might turn into a cheat-fest, just with other types of cheats than seen in Arma.
-
Why are people always coming up with this config/ startup-parameter nonsense? GPU_MaxFramesAhead can only lower the Mouse lag by the GPU render-ahead buffer, nothing to do with the stuttering the TO describes.. Changing the value of GPU_DetectedFramesAhead is BS anyway as changing it manually has no effect because it's written by the engine each start.
-
Yes that's normal..

BE does have control over global bans, however if his key has been stolen there's nothing they can do for him. If anything, he has to contact BI support. Also, BE does not hand out new copies of the game. Your key can not be obtained in-game whatsoever, also there's no real proof that your key has been stolen. I wouldn't worry unless you get something like "CD-Key in use" or even a global ban.
