You still need rock-solid evidence for a ban on PBBans. •EB Violations - doesen't make sense since BE globally bans almost all catched cheaters (expect for stuff like having CE open, which is not neccesarily worth a ban), unlike PB which only kicks cheaters most of the time (that's why ACCs like PBBans actually exist). •PB Screenshots - doesen't make sense either because you won't catch teleporting by a screenshot of the player's screen. Also, PB screens are often the frist thing bypassed by actual cheats. •demos - Arma 2 doesen't offer an ingame recorder which allows to record demos like e.g. Battlefield 2. Plus, PBBans would have to be designed specificly for DayZ official hives - Teleporting scripts, spawning scripts etc. is part of Arma 2, it's mods or other missions. PBBans is a shared community banlist, but it doesen't catch what PB wouldn't catch. :facepalm: @ this post.

You don't seem to have an idea what PBBans is about. However, don't they show up in your setpos.log/ attatchto.log?

The anti-cheat software, in this case VAC, is actually the only measure that can actively stop published cheats. The change of the engine architecture itself is more kind of a passive anti-cheat measure, because it makes scripting/ serveral types of cheats impossible, but it does not actively detect published cheats. And even if the engine is being locked down to a proper level, serveral types of cheats will still be existant because in a rather fast-paced game like DayZ some things simply can't be server sided. And when it comes to detect those very types of cheats being published, VAC just sucks. Look at MW2/ 3, Homefront, all Counter-Strike Titles. I've seen public cheats for those games going undetected for 6+ MONTHS(!). Compare it to BattlEye? Most public cheats get busted within 24 hours, Private Cheats get detected almost every week. VAC will maybe manage to detect Private Cheats every few months, but I can tell you, cheaters won't give a shit. Quote from a private hack user: -

As you can see in the remoteexec.txt: http://code.google.com/p/dayz-community-banlist/source/browse/filters/remoteexec.txt It is marked as expection, so it is being logged but not kicked for and it is NOT a cheat.

Source? True story, that's why a lot of things in a rather fast-paced game like this simply can't be server-sided. A good engine isn't worth much without a proper anti-cheat engine - that's like saying Call of Duty or Battlefield are hacker-free because they have a server-client model.

Then your actual video card is inactive/ disabled and you're using the onboard chip.

Of course the engine itself is more important since the major game-breaking hacks present in Arma 2 are going to be eliminated, but other types of cheats will still be present in the standalone, ESP, Aimbots, no recoil/ no spread hacks etc. like I described in my upper post. BUT to eliminate those cheats that will be present in DayZ, VAC is definately not the best decision. "They can ban more game keys" O rly? Why should someone use multiple keys if he's not banned on his current one? Also, the delaying of the bans itself is not the problem. PB/ BE use a delayed banning system as well, it's just that a VAC ban takes weeks or months to become active, even on public hacks. A lot of cheaters don't care if they have to re-buy the game every few weeks/ months (that's how fast VAC bans usually are), as long as they can use their cheats for this time. In most forums of the hacking sites people are already celebrating that the standalone is gonna use VAC, lol.

The smarter ones, yes, actually some noob cheaters are afraid of VAC because they think it makes them lose their whole steam account. :P

No, you're ont the only one. I mean, look at MW2/ 3, Homefront or CS (just the most popular examples). They use VAC, are absolutely plagued with cheaters and it's definately not an issue of the engine there. Since the engine for DayZ is going to be locked down, which will eliminate the scripting issue with the major game-breaking hacks, but people will try to use glitches like duping etc., make use of Wallhacks, ESP, Aimbot, maybe stuff like speadhack and such, instead of scripting. The banning policy of VAC is also problematic. IF it detects something, the bans are delayed by days, weeks or even months. PB or BE Bans are usually no longer delayed than 1 week (applying for private hacks - VAC even delays bans for simple public hacks 1+ week, not to mentoin private ones). Also, VAC does not have any admin features. It's basicly ban or no ban. PB and BE come along with a lot of admin features inlcuded. I highly doubt that VAC will effeciently keep cheaters out of the game. I have watched hacking forums for a pretty long time now and from what I can see, VAC seems to be rather ineffecient, especially when it comes to private cheats which will definately be present as this game will be almost as popular as an AAA+ Title. In comparision, PB does detect most public cheats within a week and it busts Private Cheats from time to time (at least for the popular games they support, like BF3 for example). BE detects most public cheats within 24-48 hours and is also detecting private hacks regulary (as for Arma 2/ DayZ, every private hack has been detected in the past and most private hacks are getting busted every week). I have nothing against the idea of VAC being used as additional anti-cheat, as a basic protection of every game server. But it being the primary and only anti-cheat in a popular title like DayZ is a bad decision imo.

That means that you won't be able to join BE enabled servers anymore. The "code" is the first 6 digits of your GUID. -

You will have to wait for the 1.7.4.4 server admins to update to the latest scripts.txt. -
Not possible since most IP's aren't static and therefore there would be a quite high possibility of innocent players getting banned.

bullshit, DayZ Commander often lags behind when it comes to the latest Arma 2 OA beta patches. The newer version is always the one with the higher number, therefore 99202. http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php @topic there's an incompatibility with the latest DayZ Version and the old scripts.txt. Server admins will have to update it once the actual scripts.txt file is updated. -

In order to play the DayZ mod, you need Arma 2: Combined Operation, which is made up of Arma 2 + Arma 2 OA. Arma X contains Arma 2 + Arma 2 OA + the 2 DLC's British Armed Forces & Private Military Company (and some more unimprotant stuff). So yes, he is able to play DayZ with Arma X, even with better model-Textures compared to the normal Combined Ops, because some player models of DayZ are from the PMC/ BAF DLC. In the normal Combined Ops, only the light version of those skins is included (for multiplayer compatibility etc.).
