    It does seem to be hard to find decent vanilla servers nowadays. Especially on the other maps - they all seem to enjoy placing 500 vehicles around the map.

    I honestly don't see the point of extra vehicles, starting gear etc etc. Hell, one server i spawned on gave me everything, including a DMR. Where is the fun in that? I crept up the beach and went prone on a hill to have a look round when i was promptly sniped.

    To each his own i suppose but i for one will never play on a server if i see starting gear or 250+ vehicles in the title.

    I guess we are in for some sad times in OZ when the standalone is released.Unless all 30 of us who like playing vanilla get in to the same server,thats if the currant server hosts can run the servers reliably.

    I have come to the conclusion that finding a server with no 5039580398530+ vehicles, start with nuclear missle/24/7 day bullshit is impossible, a small amount exist but they only have 2-3 consitant players.

    But this seems to only be for my time zone (PST)

    Are legit vanilla servers more common in other time zones or even other countries?

    I guess the bulk of players and servers have rejected Rockets idea of DayZ survival in favor of Dayz spawn with ammo crate death-match.

    There is about 18/14 public servers down this way and for the most part their empty.

    I wonder if Rocket is just wasting his time with the standalone for it to be torn apart and turned into another free4all custom loot server.

    Hey guys,

    I wonder if there are any camps out there?

    I think people are just running around dying or killing but not storing. Isthis right?

    Since the vast majority of players play the game like any other first person shooter +zombies, why bother setting up a camp.

    Spawn,find weapon,KOS,get killed on sight,spawn rinse and repeat.

    Still plenty of camps around you just have to look in the most obvious places, I,E the northern area of map.

    However like so smart groups I have my camps set up about 1-2kms apart, this keeps all my good loot from being stolen in one fowl swoop.

    Think again,Im doing grid searches and its paid off within the first hour on the first night.Not sure what to do with this find,raid it,destroy it,camp it and wait for kos cod kiddy's...sorry Bandits to show up.

    The first time I found one was when I was looking to make a camp north of Kamenka and hit the jack pot.

    M9 SD+ammo,take

    M4A1 CCO SD+9 mags, take

    NVGS

    GPS

    The tents in all had M24 AS50 DMR ammo for all, cooked food, full water bottles

    I left fully kited out.

    Later when trying to get to Balota I was KOS, sniped.When I got back to my body an hour or so later,nothing was touched.Who ever KOSed me must have every thing..Hmmm.I went back to the cod kiddies.. damm..Bandits camp and dumped everything into near by trees.

    I have found other camp/tents but nothing I needed was in them and left them as.One I put two nades in it,do I really need nades?nope

    One discovery I have made is,why I can visual spot tents from afar and noone has found my tent.

    Anyways Im off to find some more coood..bandits camp

    Yep, annoying and stupid. Sometimes it's pulled off in a humorous/clever way but it usually just makes you appear to be an annoying 12 year old. I'll just wait for someone to prove my point.

    Guess what my son did with his iPod,how old he is and why he got kicked off a server?.

    I told him not to..but you know,learning to hard way is often the best way....I dont see the iPod near the PC any more

    If you've seen dayz in its early stages you'll know what i'm talking about.

    I was playing not long after the release as I had bought Arma 2 and Arrowhead ,and while searching for the myriad of Mods/Add-ons I needed to get to play Arma2/Arrowhead online,I found it .

    Then.

    Getting into the one of three full 24/7 servers in OZ was a pain.But once in It didn't take long to find or see another survivor and it would be A) they would look at me and go on their merry way or run away,B)You friendly? yes..want to find a car and fix it..yep,C)KOS

    After a long break due to work and return to the game

    I've never considered trying FreeTrack. I should try it... I'm not really comfortable with my webcam being constantly on, though. I put frickin' electrical tape over the thing to stop gremlins spying on me. :ph34r:

    The software is free and you can test it with a TV remote control( its tracking the infrared LED) .

    I had some old remote control,TV,PS2,old VHS videos player and all worked.

    I found in the shed a LED torch(small pen) that has a single LED in it and took the infrared LED from one of the remotes and put that into the torch.

    Ill be going to find two more cheap torches today.You don't have to use a infrared LED,just when you are playing at night you have a invisible light instead of a visible one.

    The nights on this game are near impossible. I played some custom Arma missions with my friends recently, it was night and eventually we rounded up enough NVG's for 3 out of 4. Me being the one without. I was completely useless because I couldn't see anything, running around in DayZ at night is extremely dumb because you can't see anything, and flashlights will give you away so easily.

    i've seen that alot too. and Bobby's right. Most to all player will KOS every chance they get, it's not even about killing for gear anymore, just for the sport, or to ruin someones day. i was killed the other day and the person that killed me didn't take any of my gear, and didn't hide my body. i know this because when i got back, everything was still there. i had a G36k with 4 mags, G17, NVG's, Rangefinders, Chezch Backpack, GPS and some other goodies. yet, not a single item was missing......not even the highly coveted....canned beans.

    I was killed a week or so ago with all the goodies in my backpack and nothing was touched as well.

    Not long after this mod was released I started playing and was killed more times by script kiddies then other players.Now its the other way around.

    I cant remember the last time I seen a chopper flying or someone driving around simply because you will be KOS long before you can repair it.

    Probably the smartest location to lay a tent down, nobody really bothers to run around every tree to check for tents, especially in Kamenka. I tend to avoid it.

    Im trolling around there now and some bandit will be QQing when he gets back to his tent.

    AS50/DMR and ammo gone.I just took the guns,ammo and dropped them away from the tent

    I now have NGVs,GPS and a M14A1 SD and ammo..Im laughing.

    I now can do a grid search starting from the edge of no mans land and work my way in.
