Yes we all want the standalone. But dear god do any of you who want it right now understand that we would be getting the same crap as the other game that failed all too recently all because a need money outweighed the value of making sure the game was of good standard? Good things come to those who wait, and making sure that this game can have its own reputation outweighs that. There is nothing you can say or do, in fact there is nothing you should say or do unless you want the same crap that we got for War Z and Resident Evil 6. Never rush a game development because it cuts corners, and crushes the value of what might have made it a good game. Edit In fact= When I see most folks talking about Day Z I do not see them worryng about hackers unlike War Z because the game so far as a mod has made great strides to meet most of the demands we have wanted so far though yes I do know there is more we want and more to come. War Z however has failed to do so in being rushed out and the only thing most folks talk about are how it failed, and is hacked way too much. HELL, look at the latest article on kotaku about it and you will see what I mean. The fact of the matter stands that, whether or not we get news for a while about what occurs next is not as bad as getting a horrible product that has been rushed. For christ sake LOOK at the BLACK MESA SOURCE MOD. It took a hell of a time for that thing to come out but when it did was a success and the years of waitin were dam well worth it. I get that some folks here feel like they have been waiting for a while and want some answear and have no shame in admitting that myself however, at the same I want to have just as a good of a experience as you all have had over time and not feel like I got screwed over like so many did with the War Z. I got no bark left for this argument at this time. You want to tear it apart, be my guest but the cat is out of the bag and running for the back door atm.

This is actually VERY smart and a good move. Oh crucify me if you think I am being a fanboy but think about it. WIth so many folks out there right now burning from how bad War Z did recently, many would be less inclined to follow through on a game that actually has a good work added. They would easily just write it off, even with how well and successful Day Z is right now as a mod. This is very much what I was hoping for. This gives Rocket and the Day Z team more time, it gives us a better chance to show that Day Z is better then other games that try to follow its idea and its also even if it is annoying that nothing is out yet, the right thing to do.

Do we have a defined story as to what exactly caused the infection, how far along the infection is moving, etc? This is one thing that has been egging me for a bit and now It's time I found out the cause.

I am curious to know what kind of missions or goals everyone else sets out once they start a new game and what kind of recommendations they would make to a slightly younger Bambi here. I do understand that most of all it is to survive, its a mod so there is a limit as to what can be done and what not but still within those limits, there are bounds of tasks that can be done. Edit= TBH I kinda wish we could get some sorta hint from Dean as to what he would like to do with the story, as its been a darn long time since Ive seen a decent story for a video game involving Zombies. And before you say Resident Evil, I will smack you and tell you know because that whole sordid affair are mistranslated in English even to this very day.

Funny story, got the game back earlier this year, but could not enjoy because of how old my system was. Only finally got to start on the game last week but I have been doing my best to read in on tactics and watch videos. Still there is a lot to learn. Already have the hang of getting about scavenging and what to do for certain situations.

THe immersion of the game for me. Moments where I literally am so nervous and find myself talking quietly to my brother because I almost fear that the dead will hear me in game. That and trying to avoid being detected. Other fun moments are just watching others be silly such as a guy running through a town infested and getting chased while singing a carnival song. Heh. Good times.

Well that wouldn't work, because then the zombies would be green 8O (Nor would they be hungry for Beans and Burritos).

I actually will stick with this story till the game comes out heh. At least for jokes sake ^.^

In all seriousness, its a game of everyman for himself in most cases, other cases its because they can, and some instances, its just an accident. .... But mostly its because they can and want everything for themselves. And....its not too far from what could occur in real life though maybe not as common to the level of Day Z but it really could occur.

Now that is a good feature for the SA. Gives us more freedom for those who want to follow the story, or for those who want to just run amok and raise havok. Giggity.

I think the little child in me just let out a squee of joy hearing the word Virologist. ^.^ That is an excellent means of working on a good storyline. Also yes that does make sense that since the game is still in Mod state, that really there is no storyline atm. ....Which means we need a PLACEHOLDER STORY till then! =D

I just want these guys to take thier time. I have seen too many games rushed and ruined already this year, especially Resident Evil 6..
