Me and two friends were looting Stary Sobor today early morning and had a car. All out of the blue, one of my friends where shot. This could have been regular gameplay, I don't know. After he killed him, he stole our car with all our goodies and drove away. The other friend of mine logged off then, and I wen't down to the tents and went inside one, waiting for my other friend to make it back. After 20 minutes of lying dead still in that tent, I heard the car again. After maybe 20 second I heard it roar the engine and I died. I think he actually run over all of the tents. No way he knew I was there, he had been gone for a looooong time before he returned. It happened around 14:00 (I'm on the same time zone as server) and the player names of the victims are Yngve and aLmAnZo. I have notified UK 7 admin too. I logged off after death, and haven't played since. (time is now 18:22)

UK 7: Possible hacker
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to aLmAnZo (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Nope, it's just close to impossible that he knew where I was. It's nothing wrong with investigating. If it was legit, then of course it was fair play. If I suspect hackers, I report it, since it destroys fun for everybody else. Sometimes, I might be wrong, but that's life. Nobody is going to be banned due to accusations alone. -
I just ran through Electro, got a makarov (1 mag left, aggroed alot of z's), lee Enfield 3 mags, clock, knife, matches and hatchet, ton of food, medical supplies (as much as I wanted) and visited office building, fire station, barn, three houses, church and the hospital. Didn't see a single survivor, and the server was full... Now that's the first time... Has people been avoiding Electro so much it's pretty much deserted now, or did I have a good portion of luck?

Anyone Else Having Trouble Staying Friendly?
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree with your thoughts. Things where at least a bit better back in the bandit skin days. I still haven't killed other players, not even bandits because I think killing is wrong, and I am role playing. I've been killed with starting gear several times, with nothing on me of value. I don't get how killing innocents are fun, it's not even a challenge. It is more profitable to be a bandit, especially if you have a couple of bandit friends. It has allways been like that. I find that to be a bit sad, there should be equal profits to be had with both play styles. -

Very cool idea! I love this concept, and wish you the best. Every effort to make the wastes a bit more warm and fuzzy is getting a thumbs up from me. -

There where 35 I think. Had the feeling of a ghost town, was actually pretty epic. -
ARMA it self is more realistic, especially with ACE and ACRE ;) Other then that, I agree with you.

I have had the same experience since the last patch. Weapons do appair from time to time, but really, really rare. Except for the hatchet. -
Hackers becoming a big issue!
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to meta87's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are you guys admins of your own server? If so, I suggest turning death messages off, so you know the nick of who killed you. Then check server log, there should be evindence there. Hackers are the scum of the earth. I say don't ban them, make em spawn as zombies... -

You know, I think this is a fucking great idea. Especially the ability to meet strangers on TS, if they back stab you, you at least know their name. And I love the rescue mission part! I might visit a time or two. -
I don't know the server, but it is happening right now: Live Stream: http://de.twitch.tv/thedukey3 Not the streamer who is hacking, he is just witnessing it right now. Transport planes being spawned in. Now go nuke those fucking hackers! Edit: Now a plane blew up and killed the streamer. How stupid is that. edit: Stream ended, he said he was going to make a clip of those planes exploding. He will probably mention server name in that clip I hope.

Hacking going on right now
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to aLmAnZo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This was not an advert for the stream, it was my first view of it. Actually it was my first view of any live stream. It just got me that we had evidence this time. Shouldn't be a problem tracing that stuff, he knows the server, it is possible to track who did it, due to the fact that we have the time. Just check the server logs. I would very much hope to see those hackers banned. -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon

Yes! It makes the game more exciting, I loved spawning without a weapon. -
Possible for vsb body damage in DayZ?
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to pieeyedsniper's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would guess not, vbs isn't by any means cheap, and it's a feature meant to sell the software to the military. If it has been in the game version, there would be less reason to buy the military version. -
Welcome to Alpha! A message to the community.
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to Legacy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am very attached to my gear, and it's also the reason I am so afraid of loosing it. At the same time, I understand that I am actually a Alpha tester and that I might actually loose my gear out of glitches and updates. When it happens, I report it if the devs didn't expect it to happen. If they expected it, it's a known issue or intented necessety for further development. I will feel sad about it, but it won't change the fact that I love the game and will continue to contribute my bug reports and points of view. It's ok to be attached to your gear, it's kind of what makes the game exciting. But it's not ok to act like an ass when you loose it, as if you have some kind of rights as a tester. You are a tester, not a costumer. The fact that you bought ARMA to be able to contribute to test this, does not grant you rights to whine. DayZ is not ARMA, it's a mod. However, if you encounter bugs or glitches that are related to the engine, and not the mod, aim your complaints towards Bohemia Interactive, and not DayZ. And if so, I have a friendly tip. I've been a BI costumer for years, and I've had some complaints now and then. From my experience, BI is the one developer who actually cares for and lissen to their community, as long as you expain your problem rationally. They also pay alot of attention towards devheaven. -

aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to mtuckner's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's simply stupid. Played with my brother, it was his first time and he managed to do pretty well. Still, we died so many times, I lost count. Best bet of survival is if you aquired matches, hatchet, empty bottle and hunting knife pre 1.7.1.4 and hunt game and keep close to ponds... -
IMPORTANT: Central Server was Dropped
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
You are more than welcome. Nothing is solved with hostility, and I do believe in most priciples our society is buildt upon, and one of them is that the accused stand innocent until the opposite has been proven. The benefit of doubt, as it's known as. But yeah, WolfQuaid is right. You can of course be banned for having illegal equipment, but battleeye can't do that. The most obvious way of spotting spawned in gear, is to read the logs. If people are using gear that is not a part of the mod, it's pretty obvious. Gear that has been spawned in, and exists in the mod is way more difficult to discover, since there is basicly no way of telling (Not that I know of at least). The thing is, if you are caught with illigal gear, you will be banned from the central server of DayZ, but you can still play ARMA 2 multiplayer with other mods or vanilla. This is either something that has to be checked manually by server admins in the log, or the mod does it automaticly somehow. I would guess the latter, since your gear is saved regurarly, and on every log out. It's as easy as adding a script on the central server looking for illigal gear (gear not available in the mod) and then replacing that gear with said makarov. I can't see how they can discover hacked in gear that is in the mod allready. My knowlege of the ARMA engine really tells me that its not possible. -
IMPORTANT: Central Server was Dropped
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
No Rice, you are not reading whats being written to you. Battleeye do not care about what gear you have, there is no way for battleeye to know what weapons are allowed and what weapons who is not allowed in a mod. All weapons are spawned via scripts on the server, scripts that Battleeye do not have access to. So, in other words, Battleeye have no idea about what gear is legit, and what's not legit. The hacked in gear is also spawned by a script, and will have the exact same values as legit gear. How battleeye works is very different. When you join the server, all the files you use come with a BI key with a check sum. If the check sum are incorrect, it applies that you are running mods or apps that the server is not. That's why you'll get a notice if say you forgot that you where running ACE or any other mod. If the mod you are running, are spawning gear client side, or if it's sending spawn requests to the server, it get's detected and results in a ban. Of course the system can fail sometimes. It is possible that you where banned on false ground, but it is utterly impossible that you where banned due to having aquired hacked gear from looting. So, if you are falsely banned, the cause is not your gear, but something else. It certainly doesn't help you to behave like you do. It's highly likely that most people here responding have played BI games for years and knows the system really well. Most veteran ARMA players have at least some experience and insight into how mods work, since ARMA is everything else than user friendly, and allmost nobody plays vanilla ARMA. So, there you have it. Ask Battleeye why you have been banned, they keep records. Then sort it out with them, instead of settling it here. Oh, and Rocket: Thanks alot for sorting this out. Great to have a system to regulate hackers and scripters. -
The logical fallacy of keeping the day/night cycle
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to lherron's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree with the thought behind, but day and night should be equally long. Shouldn't really be that big of a deal if days and nights where 7-9 hours rather than 12. Then people who play at basicly the same time everyday, get to play both during night time and day time. And forcing global DayZ time is a good idea. -
why sacrifice carebears safety for sake of bandits ?
aLmAnZo (DayZ) replied to unsobill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Quite simple, people who ask where the advantage lies in being a bandit, pointing out that all can do what they like on the same footing. Well, the game encourages you to kill others. There is nothing to loose by doing so, and there is a lot to win. Being a survivor is a heck of a lot more difficult than being a bandit. Going bandit is simply playing DayZ on easy mode. Finding loot takes time and is dangerous. Killing others that have done the job for you is much faster. That's why alot of people complain. There should be downsides and benefits for both playstyles. As it is today, there is no benefits in going survivor, and alot of benefits for going bandit. As if this game needed more of them...
